Well, here's the thing, I'll download unreleased tracks (such as Wonderful, Fever, and others) of Lady Gaga, I would consider that supporting. I won't however, download tracks to be on the album, unless to just tide me over. Like Hair and Edge.

Plus you know me Jeff, I support it really, but the only songs I may be putting up will be the remixes and the expanded edition, and I'm not sure if I'll put those up.

I think Gaga would actually support this since it is art for art's sake. If I was an artist, I hope my stuff would leak a little, if I didn't leak it myself, lols.

Well said. Definitely agree with the perspective that it can be seen as supporting an artist to spread lower profile songs as well.

And thanks for the excerpt, Hani. Sorta took the words outta my mouth.

even if i already heard everything online, i'm not "really" listening to them... just "skimmed" the music..

i'm gonna take it all in fully on 23rd

Born This Way is probably not what fans expected. After all the hype and Gaga’s odd fashion (face-horns, anyone?) and somewhat blasé attitude, listening to these tracks becomes a great reminder that she’s really just out to have fun. Her strange antics seem as though they were just an act to build hype—maybe she’s not crazy after all!

Now that she achieved “the fame,” Gaga can play around and take her fans on whatever journey she chooses—maybe that’s where the Gagacycle fits in the picture. Born This Way isn’t as deep or personal as it could be, but it showcases Gaga’s fun side and her “be yourself” attitude, which is enough even for a non-fan to appreciate.

No nope. She's still crazy. All artists are crazy. Writers are just said to be controlled schizophrenics. Sometimes... we're not even controlled.

oh lol ur right.....i love crazy. we're all crazy.
yet i can see how this person thought how gaga used the "fame/monster" in order to share her "real music"(music that gaga enjoys/has passion for) with the world... like these sledge hammering/ old music beats...
b/c remember, gaga never was a pure pop-artist in the beginning...
haha ohhh jeffery

Well, I can't even find the leak, so I haven't listened to it yet. gonk Internet fail, haha.

I think listening and downloading are two completely different things. Yeah, I've listened to countless albums before they've been released, because I want to see if I even like the songs in the first place, and then I just buy the ones I like on iTunes (saves me some cash too).

Speaking of saving cash, $15 for a CD? That's pretty expensive these days. If money is hard to come by, I say just download it. The moral police aren't gonna hunt you down. (Well, maybe they will....)

Anyways, I think if people are uptight about "supporting" Gaga, then go buy some merch from her concerts. That makes up for all the CD's not bought. (;

Actually I find $15 quite cheap. Isn't Rihanna's album like $11-$16 at Wal-Mart and it has about 16 songs? The standard edition of BTW is only $10.

yes, and i just enjoy the thought of having a "tangible" cd case..... you know? its the real deal.
like how it's alot more enjoyable to look through an actual photo album vs. facebook pictures.

Agreed. But as for the moral police .. they'll hunt you down for anything. rofl

I think it's okay to listen to the songs, but I think that downloading it illegally is cheating. If you don't want to spend ten to fifteen bucks (which is very little) then just buy the individual tracks you like off of amazon or itunes.

I don't buy them on iTunes for a few reasons. The first being that I am going to buy the CD with the songs on them. Why would I need two copies of the same song? The second being that I would have to buy a $15 iTunes gift card for three singles. Yea. Don't thinks so if I'm about to get the entire album anyway. If I wasn't, then that would be a different story.. But I am.

Gaga herself said she doesn't want our money but rather for us to listen. The only reason I bought the album was to have a physical copy, and to put a little chunk of change to fund her next artistic exhibitions. Anyone who thinks all of the money made from sales will go straight to her is beyond naive; countless artists get ******** over financially by their record labels. I pirate and DIY my own band shirts 90% of the time, so it's not like a steady stream of my pocket money goes into their pockets. It's about music and art, not money and industry.

I don't judge anyone who downloads music. I download music. But i'm one of those people that likes to physically hold a copy in my hands. I love the original pictures and artwork that goes into album covers.

I downloaded the entire BTW album and the next week I still went out and bought it. But I knew what I was buying and I knew it was going to be good. Uh oh, I feel a rant coming on.....

I distinctly remember Jon Bon Jovi saying, "Steve Jobs destroyed the music industry." It was along the lines of people are only buying one song and missing out on the rest of the record. Well Jon, if artists nowadays stopped making shitty records, perhaps the consumer would feel abit more confident on what they're buying. How many people here have bought an album, all excited, only to find out that the singles were the only good tunes! I know I have and the Have A Nice Day album would be my example.

When I first wanted to hear more of Lady Gaga, I didn't rush out to buy her album, I downloaded her music first and listened to what she had to offer me. Once I found out it wasn't going to be s**t, I went out and bought the album.

I hope I didn't go too off-topic here. The TL;DR version is that its a two-way street. Stop making shitty records and maybe people will stop downloading. By downloading the BTW leak album, I knew what I was going to buy and I knew I was going to like it.

Good points.

What some would argue against that is the existence of YouTube and similar online programs/sites. When the album comes out, you can stream it and listen to it for free, thus you can decide if you want to buy the album or not.

But don't worry, I download a lot too. rofl

Hehe, I downloaded Eclipse because I hate Twilight but I read the books and wanted to watch the movies. Meyer will never get a dime out of me twisted

I can see both sides too. I'd like to think that the artist should get something when their hard work has become so popular, but I rip CDs from the library onto my computer all the time. Its hard for me to draw any kind of line as to what is right and wrong.
