So, as I am never able to complete (or participate in) the official NanoWriMo, I have decided to set one for myself during this summer. Starting earlier today.
If anyone would like to join me, or even complete half of a NanoWriMo (800 words per day, rather than 1600), feel free. I am going to post (hopefully) daily, both as a way of checking up on the guild, and to make certain that I do not lose count of how much I have written.
Prizes? I am not offering any personally, but I imagine that there should be some sort of satisfaction waiting at the end. It might also look nice to put on university applications for those of you who will be doing that soon (although I suppose that applications will not be due until sometime this winter). I personally will be using the increased amount of writing to edge closer to a goal of perhaps publishing something. I had not originally intended to, but I feel that if I will make a net gain by publishing, then I could certainly use a little extra money.
So, today I have written 600 words thus far, although that was all done during my break time at work. This evening I shall complete the rest of today's writing.
As an aside, I have calculated that it will take me approximately three hours of work write my 1600 words. If anyone is joining me, that is likely a good approximation (that's about 88 words (3 sentences) per ten minutes, or 533 words per hour. I typically write fairly slowly, so that I do not have to make as many edits later).
