So, she was finally here...
It had been many months since she had met the orange eyed boy at the bar, a lot had happened since then but she still remembered her promise - she was going to visit him, better late than never. She had been very busy recently and a lot had happened, in herself she felt like she was a whole new person. She wondered if he would recognise her, physically she had not changed much if anything but inside she felt more confident and the world seemed less scary. She felt like she had seen the worst and coming to terms with her abilities took a huge weight of her shoulders since it was one of the main reasons she felt restricted before. She took in a deep breathe and put her hand on the shop door.
She remembered the state she had left the bar in, he had been so nice and she had acted so foolish and childlike - she was a little ashamed. She could not even fully remember what he looked like, he had fiery eyes and leaf coloured hair. Sara herself was wearing a green kimono style dress which she had picked out for the day, for some reason she wanted to make a good impression, she even refrained from wearing her hat. Her green hair down as always and stroking her shoulders. She pushed the door open and entered the shop taking in the sights. Wondering over to a shelf with some figures displayed on it, it brought a small smile to her lips - they really were beautiful. She stopped and looked over her shoulder as she heard someone coming her way....

It was a slow day in the shop, and that in itself was an understatement. With his father still away trading with smaller villages off from the Imperial city the shop had yet to receive new merchandise aside from the usual decor. The timing couldn't be worse, summer months were near at hand and crowds of Lunarians would soon be coming to the large city for vacation and they would need far more stock of greater quality and diversity. It was days like this Cais preferred to be in the workshop rather than the storefront. Irritated, he had taken up sitting on the stool behind the main desk for transactions, idly thumping his foot against the back of the wooden bit of furniture with his head slumped down.
It took a long while to register the small bell on the door clanging lightly as the wooden door was pushed open. Hours had slipped by and he was sure by now he must have been imagining the sound as the silence passed on. Creaking on the floor, he heard the footsteps and blinked, lifting his head up dully to glance at the intruder. Would it be yet another large order? He was getting less fond of them as time went on.
His eyes widened at the familiar sight which nearly caused him to fall from his stool when he attempted to stand. He moved slowly, glancing at her from behind. The hair was familiar but the outfit seemed different, and he would hate to call someone by a name if it ended up not being that person. He swallowed slightly and moved closer to her, but refrained from calling to her. Slowly he moved a hand out, tapping her shoulder lightly and clearing his throat, waiting for her to turn around.

It came as a little bit of a shock as she felt a tap on her shoulder, she was nervous and that made her jumpy so the moment she felt someone touch her she twisted around, her hair spiralling behind her as she did so before falling gentle back into place. At first she looked a little surprised but her eyes and posture loosened and relaxed when she saw who it was. "...Cias." She said softly as a small smile came to appear on her face, she brushed her hair back over her shoulder and looked to her side with a small blush - maybe her movements were to distract him from her face, or more likely it was her nervous habit of having to fuss kicking in again. She was so sure she had gotten over it, however it seemed like she had not changed at all. Maybe it was because it had been so long since she had last met him - or maybe it is because she could still remember the racing of her heart when she ran away the first time.
She snapped out of it and went to look at him again, collecting her words in her mind before she spoke them. There would be no stuttering today, if she could do that she would have truly made progress. "I promised I would come see your work one day, I know it has been longer than I would have liked it to be but.... if it is not a bad time maybe we could catch up." Were would she start, so much had changed since she last saw him - so much had happened she did not know if it was even possible to fill him in on everything. Maybe she should have come back sooner because no doubt a lot of things would have changed in his life also. Maybe they were not the same two people who met each other all that time ago. She looked at him closer and tilted her head to the side with a small smile, he had grown taller - not only that she could see in his eyes that he had matured.
"You do remember me don't you?" She asked, it was such a little thing. He had returned her hairpin to her after it fell out of her hat. Yet she remembered it like it was yesterday, he was really nice to her and was the first person to make her feel... normal. He did not care about her abilities and that helped her a lot at the time. Now she was not scared to admit who she was and she owed a lot of that to the green haired boy standing in front of her. Part of today was to thank him for that.

Cais smiled. It was a warm smile, one with familiarity. Luckily he had been right, he dared not think of what would have happened had he been wrong. Clearing his throat gently he moved back from her, looking over her outfit. "You look different..." he began, cocking his head. "But I think that's still Sara down there." He finished with a grin and laugh, glancing around the abandoned shop. "This is a good of time as any, it's... been slow."
Another small laugh escaped his lips before silence took over. He was excited to see her, it had been a time since he had seen a face, friendly or otherwise. He had wondered about her when he left the bar and for weeks afterward, though he was unsure of where to even start looking for her. The day which begun so terribly was beginning to turn around for him, and he was glad of it.
"So what have you been up to since I last saw you? I think it's... been a while, hasn't it?"

He did remember her and this made her very happy indeed. It was true she did look different and she knew why, but she did not wear her heavy robes all the time. Especially on her days off. "It has, I would have come sooner but circumstance would not allow it. I am sorry." She would have explained everything, the fact she was almost killed by a mad spirit, the fact that she had to move in the Lee house whilst her master was out on a mission, and all the other little adventures her path had lead her down. Yet she did not think this a time for such stories, the months had been hard and she did not want that to be the taste of their reunion. This was a happy time. Maybe one day she would tell him about everything that happened, but not today. She gave him a soft smile and bowed her head.
"I have been very busy with my training and duties however as of late a lot of my time has freed up so I thought it would be a good idea to come and strengthen old ties that I do not want to loose." It was true, now she was settled in with Hua once more and was no longer under constant supervision it was a lot easier for her to move around freely and spend her time as she wished. She felt like her absence might have damaged her most treasured bonds and prevented some to grow stronger and it was something she was trying to rectify now. "How about you? I hope the months have treat you kindly." She asked as she turned to her side and started to take in her surroundings.
She could tell his family had done well, the shop was beautiful and she could not wait to see his creations. She paused and looked at him, her eyes slightly lowered and a small redness tainting her cheeks at what she was about to do. "I- have something for you. close your eyes." She nodded her head hoping that he would go along with it. There was no good time to give a gift so this moment was as good as any - if she did not do it early on she knew she would spend the rest of the day looking for chances to do so.

He couldn't help but smile. Sara seemed like a girl who was generally in high spirits. Cais had come to admire that, even through her apparent shyness it was obvious to him that she did her best to stay in high spirits. That was more than he could say for himself. "That's alright, I understand that your duties would keep you busy. As long as you're doing well, I think that's what matters most, right?" He said with a tilt of his head, broken by a quiet, nervous laugh that escaped him at her question.
"I've been alright." He said simply, thinking over the past few months. A crease appeared between his eyebrows as he thought over some of those darker times. Casting a glance backwards he thought of Nam and let out a sigh before returning his attention back to her. "Can't say it's been perfect, but you know, life and how it is." He said with a darker tone, ending in a superficial smile. He didn't want to bother her with such depressing manners, rather he'd want to catch up with her to further their friendship.
Blinking a few times he looked back at her, afraid he'd said something wrong until she spoke again. He felt his face grow a bit hot then die down quickly. "Alright." He said softly, closing his eyes and facing towards her. Not sure what to expect he was slightly nervous but stood his ground. I wonder what it is.

Sara smiled and tilted her head to the side gently, her hair free from her hat moved around easier and the teal strands seemed to whip and spin with her every movement, she had thick hair like most of her people but it was smooth, especially because she had just washed it this morning. It felt strange not to be wearing her temple robes but it was her day off, she could be herself. "I understand completely, if you ever need someone to talk to I will be there. I am not good at many things but listening is something that comes naturally." She would be lying if she said she was not concerned by his answer. By the sounds of things life had not been treating him as well as he would have liked but she thought it would be rude of herself to pry on such things, maybe when he was comfortable enough he would tell her. She remained silent until he finally did as she asked. Sara nodded when he closed his eyes, fiddling with the belt that was around her waist until she was able to pull out something that was hidden in it. She took a few steps closer, her footsteps seemed louder now the room was quiet. For a moment she stood closer to him nervously, wondering if this really was such a good idea, though soon enough she napped herself out of her self conciousness and placed a the pendant around his neck. For a moment she stayed there, close to him. She did not know why maybe it was because she froze but deep down she knew that maybe it was because she wanted to linger, her eyes were on the gift she gave to them too scared to look up in case he was looking down at her questionably. Her fingers blushed his hair and neck as she put it on, inside she was proud that she was brave enough to do it, but was also glad his eyes were closed, her face was warm. She had noted his own small blush, she thought it was cute but she would never say anything, mainly because she was such a timid character but secondly because no doubt he had noted her own actions and the looks that she gave him. Her mother said that crushes were just something that happened and you could not really explain them, back home Sara thought she was broken. She had never looked at someone and felt any kind of attraction to them, she did not know why she wanted to be around Cias, all she knew is that she did - it must have been the way the spirits made her. The tie was a black piece of rope, coated in a substance to make it stronger so it would not break easily. The pendant itself was a peice of aquamarine still in the shape in which she found it, it was smooth and pebble shaped and rested in the middle of the design she had made, around this centerpeice were a few jade beads and inbtween each bead was a small tooth. It had no clasp and fit our his head with great ease, more so there were only a few beads and teeth each side of the aquamarine so a lot of black rope was showing. its tie was long and it hung down to the middle of his chest, something that could be hidden easily under most clothing in case he did not want others to see it. "It is not much but I thought you would like it. After what we talked about the last time we met." She stated standing back a little after she gave it to him, looking at the floor. She had said that she liked making little trinkets and after she made this one a few weeks ago she felt in her gut that he was the one meant to wear it, it was not very valuable but she knew that did not matter to him. She stepped over to the window and looked out of it, sun rays leaking in and bouncing off the glass ordainment in places most colours of the spectrum could be seem, like many little rainbows. The warm light made her tanned skin look almost caramel and her scales shone in it, shades of green and blue. It was such a lovely day.

The sound of her footsteps over the hard floor made him curious though he obliged her request and remained still with eyes closed. From deep inside he could feel his heart begin to thump heavier with anticipation. This was something he could never prepare himself for and often the one thing he couldn't stand up against, such interesting emotions that hit him during times like this. He felt her body heat near him as she stood in front of him. What is it? He repeated in his head over and over again.
In a mere matter of seconds he felt a light weight fall on his neck and blushed as her hands moved over his at the back of his neck. It felt strange to him, to have such a weight there and he remained a few moments with eyes closed, unsure of whether he should open them or not. After a long pause of silence he opened them and looked down to the gift, touching it gently with a hand. Admiring it he brushed his fingers over the hardened rope and down to aquamarine, pressing it between two fingers. A smile crossed his face though he could not shake the light red which remained over his.
"You made this?" He questioned, moving his hands away and returning his attention back to her. She appeared timid with standing back, he felt almost ashamed to have been the one to make her feel awkward. With a few quick motions he was next to her, admiring the window as well for a moment before turning his eyes back on her. "You have a true artistic gift." He began, nearly tripping over his words. With a quick clearing of his throat he continued. "It's wonderful." He added, putting a hand on it again to admire it. "It's one of the best gifts I've ever gotten, and perhaps the first I've gotten from a friend."
There was another long silence between them while he made a cough, turning from her entirely to avert his eyes. She was kind, talented and lovely, he had to admit it, but that left him feeling only more awkward and misplaced than anything. A rush of embarrassment ran through him while he attempted to compose himself. "I'm only sorry I don't have anything for you."

"Thank you, I am glad you like it Cias." She nodded with a small smile, a sense of pride came over her. It was not often she felt proud of something she had made but the fact he liked it made her happy. Though she was surprised when he stated that he had never received a gift from a friend. "Well, your the first friend I have ever gifted such a thing to." She never thought anyone would get pleasure from her creations, they were not expensive and they were not typical of the Lunarian style of jewellery but if it gave him some joy her goal was achieved. She could tell the way he looked at it and the way he played with it that his thanks was genuine.
She shook her head as he stood closer to her. "Oh no, I do not want anything in return, I did not give it to you expecting such a thing." It was a kind gesture to him. She was not used to gifts either and when she did receive them she always felt like she did not deserve them so in a way she was glad he had nothing for her. His thanks was more than enough.
"... although." She started nervously, she had to break off to give herself a chance to arrange the words in her mind. Maybe a small part of her was trying to talk her out of asking but never the less she decided to be brave and say them anyway. "If you would do me a kindness, your company is what I desire. I would like to spend some time with you. So we could get to know each other a little better... whenever you have time really... I understand if you are busy... Or you do not want to..." She trailed off, her speech getting fainter and fainter towards the end. A small part of her wanted to run away like she did the first time they met however she told her feet to stay firmly where they where. She did not know where she wanted to go, or what she wanted them to do... she just wanted to talk and enjoy each others company.
"Maybe that was a little forward..." She gave a nervous chuckle waiting for him to reply...

"And I greatly appreciate it." He said with a nod to her. She would probably never know what it meant to him. Outside of his family he didn't really receive gifts, but then again the last time he thought about it he had very few friends. The thought seemed to linger for a moment and he felt his lips begin to curl to a frown while it washed over him. As his eyebrows began their normal crease to his displeased face he was stopped by her words and blinked, looking back at her.
It was as if she had shrunk before him as she began to speak. Cais felt a flush of heat return to his face again as he blushed a bit. It nearly took him completely off guard and he struggled to remain still. Such a rush of emotions often had that affect on the young Lunarian, but he managed to stay in control until she had finished.
"Well, being forward isn't always a bad thing." He remarked before clearing his throat a bit, looking back at her. She had her own way, but she was a kind person at heart and he could see it. He also thought of her as cute, but would never verbalize that thought. It took him a minute to find the response. "I think that would be great." He let out, rubbing the back of his head with a nervous laugh. "Though really, I should have been the one to ask. But there's no helping that." He said in a delicate tease, he meant no harm by it.
Blinking himself back to his senses he let his hand fall to his chin in a thoughtful manner. "What would you... want to do?" He was still blushing a bit, but concluded it was something he wanted. With a warm smile he looked her back in the face with anticipation.

Maybe he should have been the one to ask, however she saw no harm in asking a friend to spend some time with her, she did it often with Mei and Yue however Cias was a different case, when she asked him butterflies invaded her stomach. The feeling was different. She did not know why he had such a effect, he just always seemed to have the right thing to say. That night when they first met he was so kind to her and even when she admitted what she was - he did not look at her any differently. She smiled and then her gaze came back from the window to look at him.
"I have an idea, do you know where the small lake is just inside the forest? Its a quiet place and not many people go there but its perfect for what I have in mind but it is going to be a surprise." She would keep her secrets but she knew it was something that he would enjoy, she had done it once with her mother when she was little and had always wanted to do it again. She saw this as the perfect occasion to do so. She laced her fingers together behind her back, her mind tinkering away. She was proud of herself, a few months ago she would not have dreamed of having the strength to confront him and tell him the things she had today. Maybe she was getting a little more confident step by step but it would be a while till she was brave as Yue... if anyone could be as brave as Yue.
She pushed her hair behind her shoulder and bowed her head a little. At that moment she heard the door open once more, it looked like he might have a customer. "I really should be letting you get back to work." She stated with a nervous chuckle, peering over her shoulder before looking back at him. Maybe it was a relief she could escape, she only had so much courage to last her a day and maybe it was best if she left before she said anything stupid and ruined what they had done so far. "... I guess I will be seeing you around very soon, I will write... I am sorry for intruding.... but I am glad I did." She seemed to have a habit of rambling on when she was nervous, the stuttering had stopped but it seems like that only made the lesser of her nervous habits more obvious.

There was a large, dumb grin on his face when she spoke again, but he made sure to lose it soon thereafter. He shifted uncomfortably for a moment but kept his bright eyes glued onto her. "I know of the lake." he began, feeling the same heat return to his cheeks, though he fought to make certain the pink pigment on them didn't proceed further. ""Maybe... dinner and then a nice walk there?" he added with a nervous tug to the side of his shirt.
It had been a long while since he'd let himself have such a conversation or even have the courage with a girl. He'd felt lost and alone since then... but he refused to let that memory resurface. With his other hand he grabbed a hold of himself and looked back to her. ""If you would like that, I mean." He felt the world around him crashing, like he was on a burning boat of failure. He wondered what she would think...
The sound of the door opening made him jolt and he glanced over to the intruding customer. With a sigh he nodded back to her again, with a soft look to his face. "I'll be in touch, just write me with a day and then we'll go, how does that sound?" He didn't want to be too forward, but he could already feel himself getting excited. She was a kind soul, and brave to have come out and asked him especially since he was sure he wasn't ready for such a thing.
Moving back behind the counter he waved to her, not wanting to add tension to the situation. ""Soon." he added.

Sara bowed her head and smiled at him as he went to continue his shift behind the desk. "I hope so." She added before she made her way out of the shop. As she let the door close behind her she found herself looking at him as she walked past the window with a small smile on her face. It as not often she genuinely felt like life was looking up, especially here of all places. However right now she felt like her luck was turning around and a new chapter in Lunaria was about to start. Did she like him?
