Alan opened the door and glanced over at the boy on the bed. "Hello," he greeted his roommate with a faint smile and waited for a response. When none came he frowned slightly and tilted his head to the side. Had he said something wrong already?

Then he noticed Devon bobbing his head slightly and the smile came back. So he hadn't done anything stupid within the first word he had said to his roommate, Devon was just listening to music.

He slipped off his backpack and put it down on his bed. It was plain and simple with his black covers but he didn't mind. He liked it better that way. Then he flopped down onto his bed and stared at the door.

Alan had no idea how long it had been until finally the boy in the other bed said something. He slowly turned his head so he could look at him better. Alan shifted on the bed nervously as he, for the first time, got a good view of his roommate. A blush spread across his cheeks and neck as he nodded,"Hello. I'm Alan."

He didn't know if he should get up and go over there so they could shake hands or something so he just stayed where he was on his bed and ran his fingers through his blonde hair. He really hoped his roommate didn't notice the blush...
