Hey rmcdra. I've been away for a while, but now exams are over!!!
dramallama How do you seek truth in Christianity? I seek truth in Christianity by reading my Bible, first (thanks to the internet I can easily find passages on any life issue. Thank you, Google
wink ) Then, by talking to other Christians. Finally, through prayer. I often pray for wisdom to discern what is and is not God and so far, it has helped me.
What is truth? Anything that isn't a lie?
rolleyes j/k.
xp Truth is something that can't be any other way without going against the inherent nature or order of God. Example: You can have a square circle. Not true, because each are distinctly their own and can only be what they are. Also, geometrist's brains might explode at the notion.
How do you test it? Well, I know what God says about testing him, so...I use my mad reasoning skills to rationalize it first in my mind. Only if I reckon it against the other parts of my faith and it does NOT mix will I apply a real-world test. Though there's little left for me to test for myself (at least right now), I do get caught up in the rat race from time to time and whenever I get back to finding God I always realize how fickle and petty I was. I try to check myself before falling as far into it, though I still fall nonetheless.
Is truth alone enough? If the truth comes in the package of personal conviction then yes. I do not simply call things "true" because I have heard it from someone/somewhere else. I test it against what I already know to be true (i.e. my personal convictions). Otherwise I become a sheep in the bad sense and can easily be lead to slaughter as lead by the Shepherd.
What is sacred?Anything that is true.
blaugh (I feel my argument is becoming circular...oh noze!!!) So, to add to that, all that is by and of God. (who is also Truth...hm, I can't escape the cycle can I? Perhaps it's not meant to be escaped?
eek )
How do you know that something is sacred? OK. I will NOT use the 'T' word. hmmm.....
Something is sacred when...you know that its absence causes an inevitable and insurmountable void. A non-God example: When a family member dies. It is not that individual who is sacred but their life and subsequently life in general that is sacred.
So, anything that can extend into eternity is sacred: love, life, creativity, consciousness, spirit, as well as any corresponding opposites though they are NOT to be revered, but everyone here knows that
cool .
Wait. God is life and eternal, making him.....
eek Nice to be back!
