The usually short elevator ride to the top floor felt like half a year. Shanderaa nervously fidgeted in place, trying to calm the oncoming anxiety attack. This past week, she hadn't had much interaction with Matasoga. She was still kind of scared of approaching him. But now, things were finally going to be okay... weren't they? She glanced over towards Kromli. Should I ask what's going on now? ...No. Best not. In less than a minute we'll have answers, anyway... She returned her gaze to the floor until the cheery ding! of the elevator signaled their arrival at their destination. She headed down the hall, nervously approaching the door to Matasoga's room.
She wasn't at all prepared for this. She was one of the only people to have ever seen the inside of Matasoga's room, but had never, EVER seen Matasoga himself looking so... casual. She looked back down, avoiding all eye contact. This was so much worse than she could ever have imagined. It was best, she thought, to keep quiet and listen along to the plan rather than say anything that might make things worse.

Matasoga stepped out of the room clumsily, still quite numb from the potion that was intended to still his nerves. His back was still literally steaming from where Shanderaa burned the runes into his back. It was well worth the pain. He would now be able to switch between his dragon wings, all three stages of the red wings, his violet wings, or conversely simply absorb them into his body altogether. This would have great utility in times where food might be scarce and the metabolic burden of his wings would work against him, or when he simply wanted to lie on his back. Even through the potion, he still felt a great deal of pain of having his scales soldered into. It took hours of work as Shanderaa carefully traced over each line, but at last it was done. Although he was also still hung over from the night before, he said, "I could really use a drink. I do not want to be sober when this potion begins to wear off. Then it's straight into a cold tub with me."

Shan followed behind Matasoga, hand aching from the hours of soldering work. The process of burning the runes in with near-surgical precision was difficult enough, but doing it severely hungover made it even more of a nightmare. That plus the obvious agony she was inflicting on him, as necessary as it was. Thank goodness for pain killers, she thought.
"Yeah... I don't blame you. I'mma sit the drinks out, but go ahead." She replied, a dull pounding still ever present within her skull. "But uh. I can help you with that second thing! ...Uh. That is. If you want me to..."

"Of course," he said, in little mood for further discussion. A sudden pang struck him. He didn't let it show, but instead said, "On second thought... please just bring the bottle to me. I'll take that bath, now."

"Yes Sir! As you wish. I'll bring the usual. Back in a flash, kay?" she said before taking off, going as fast as she could to minimize the time he'd have to be alone.
