http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1663425/lady-gaga-judas-video-explained.jhtml

critics just dont seem to know what they want. its either "too offensive" or "too tame". as with their responses to "judas", they were underwhelmed.
i mean, seriously. they were complaining how unoffended they are.
when people used to criticize her for using "shock" for fame, now they complain they're not "shocked" enough.

and really, gaga's creations all come her from her heart and vision. how could they judge anyone on ones dreams and goal that came true?

while us monsters are the only ones who seem to be able to enjoy good music and video, and not complain about how "unoffended" or "insulted" they are. seriously. gaga was BEAUTIFUL in judas. many even compare judas to "bad romance", which i admit, is one of her best.

i mean, i know everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when gaga puts SO MUCH effort, time, money, etc.. into her creations, it seems so RUDE to bash. ya know?

"The video is so good, it's an individual interpretation, and as for me, personally, the dress, the wedding dress, you're the bride, Christ is the bridegroom, and to marry hope, faith, inspiration is ultimately the idea that no matter what anybody says, your purity is in your heart," co-director Laurieann Gibson told MTV News about the finale. "There's always tomorrow. There's always an opportunity to find peace, and it's pure. She's pure. You're pure. I'm pure. And the stones, they're just from people who judge, and if you're gonna throw one, then make sure your closet is clean."

This is gonna cause a degree of butthurt but to a smaller extent, I agree.

The video in itself, it's different from all her videos and as it should be. The mix of religious symbolism with the modernization of motorcycle culture is refreshing. It gives a present-day illustration of the brotherhood amongst Jesus and his disciples. In no way is this an implication that either are sunshine and rainbows; if anything it's as much brotherhood as it is struggle and conflict. The biker gang seems to be a befitting personification of Jesus, Judas and the others.

Aesthetically it seemed too literal. The outfits laid too heavily in Biblical portions (yes yes, I know it's "Judas", but the song itself uses Biblical characters as a metaphor as being in love with a back-stabbing man). This is purely based on opinion, but some of the outfits were a bit dare I say...ugly? Art is purely subjective and whether something is deemed attractive or not is solely based on one's opinion(s), but ones like the earhead bodysuit and the outfit at the end were aesthetically unappealing.

Finally, this is less of a direct issue but it seems like you're kissing up a bit to Gaga. Many people in the music business put in thousands, even millions towards music videos. I'd rather not let my status as a Monster get in the way of who I am as a critic and a person, hence why I attempt to steer away from that "ZOMG LADY GAGA IZ TEH BEST UR ALL JUS JELUZ BCUZ SHE'S SO AWSUM N SHE'S NUMBUH ONE ON TEH CHARTS!11one!" I don't care about the charts, the critics, the numbers. That's not what she's trying to get across to us. The only thing I care about is the music, the art, and feeling ******** awesome.

but i loved it lol. i love details and the images were very caravaggio-like in it's shadows/lights/etc. i thought the music video was great visually.

and there is nothing wrong with it being too "literal".
i do agree that art is purely subjective.
the outfit at the end is based off a traditional italian wedding dress.

i'm not kissing up to gaga. (infact, i did state that i was not attracted to the "judas" music/lyrics)<

i do understand she does not care about charts/critics/numbers etc, and neither do it.
it's just that i DO care about her/everyone else's music and art, and being an artist myself, being criticized for a "lack of shock factor" is ridiculous. gaga, like i said, created her music/art from her own vision, NOT to create perversive images for critics.

sorry if i sounded like a crazed fan. i still dont know how to organize what i'm trying to say even above. nothing is meant to be rude or anything towards you Findette.

Ah, I can agree with that. It's not so much an intelligent critic as they are basing it more on her work as a musician/artist/performer instead of the widespread shock she receives from people.
