Before We Were Explorers

It was a quiet night when Spirit and Dymitri were finally accepted as explorers and given a room all for their own. It was plain and simple, a few basic furnishings like a couple of beds, a dinning area and a lounge. Spirit always being the more relaxed of the two novices glided to the farthest bed in the room and waited to see what Dymitri would do. Spirit suspected he would choose a bed then feel so uncomfortable he would just end up sleeping with spirit. The timid aron didn't disappoint as he made his way to the bed nearest Spirit, and the ghost shook his head. "Just c'mon over here. Ya know ya gonna be with meh anyway." Dymitri just shrugged and replied "I wouldn't always end up with you if you didn't scare me everytime we visited a new place. But you are what you are." the slightly exasperated voice in which Dymitri had answered caused Spirit to smile a truly content smile and not the sneer, leer or smirk that usually graced Spirit's ghastly features. As Dymitri settled down and got comfortable, Spirit couldn't help but ask, "Do ya ever think about before we was explorers?" His eyes were closed but he moved habitually to curl around his partner like a blanket of security. Dymitri let out a thoughtful hum before he deciding to be honest. "More often I probably should. Do you Spirit-kun?" Spirit huffed in mock annoyance at Dymitri. "I wouldn't 'ave asked if I didn't pebble brain." His reply contained Spirit's favorite nickname for Dymitri and despite it soundling like an insult it was a sure sign to the little Aron that his ghostly companion was feeling a bit sentimental. As it stood it was a drastic change from the life they had shared or at least is was bound to be Dymitri reckoned.
