@Mira: I'se tossin' out Patches just cause. She can hang out with family or whatever 3nodding ]
A nap had always felt nice around this time. The green beauty was resting peacefully in the sands near to her home. She had wandered away, but only for a moment. Patches wasn't one to stray from home, but it did happen from time to time that the young girl needed space. Her tail often waved to her own tune, ears flicking causing her flakes to dance about her head. She hummed gently, eyes closed as she simply rested enjoying the weather.

Regulus needs some exercise...
A black and pink male trotted through the lands, exploring with his two mice. He was strong, muscular, and confident in his movements, but he was no ordinary male. In fact, due to a rare eye disorder that made him hypersensitive to light, he was effectively blind and wore a bandana around his eyes to protect them from light. To move, he used two longer flakes that seemed to originate from the back part of his head that acted like the feelers of a bug, the directions of his mice, and an ability he'd been trying to perfect that his father could do...actually see through his familiar's eyes. It was something he was still struggling with, and have two fiesty mice who scurried quite a bit tended to give him headaches trying to sort it out. One day he'd learn to focus on one mouse...or learn how to mentally control both...that could be interesting... Thinking about this, he was ignoring the odd comments from his mice up until Riana mentioned something about a lioness in the sand. "Huh?" he stopped short to sniff around for her...

Dark x Deception
The sun was beating pleasantly against her body and again she almost slipped into a peaceful slumber when her ears and flakes picked up the sounds and vibrations of...mice? She opened her eyes slowly, lazily in fact. Her body moved with the grace of her mother as she stretched her legs, neck, and tail. Finally, she shook her torso sending bits of sand back ontop of the ground. The lioness was a little more awake now, her dark blue eyes looking around the lands of her father. A little ways away, she could see the mice..and another form. For a moment she was unsure whether to go back and find someone to walk with her to greet the stranger...but the back of her mind said something else. With a quick flick of her body, she leapt out of her little nap hole and traveled to meet the mice and their stranger. "Ho!" The young princess called out. "What of you? Are you and mice lost?" Her voice held a strange, scratchy melodic tune. Her mother's speech had rubbed off on her, but she had managed to gain some sort of structure as she spoke. The female stopped a few paces away, maw slightly open as she tried to cool herself with her ear flakes. It was hot and she had just sprinted what she believed to be a mile, maybe less against sand and dirt. She'd end up going back home after this 'adventure'.
Lunar Mirage
It wasn't her smell that caught his attention as to were this elusive being might be, but the shifting of the sands as she sprinted towards them. Her greeting served to solidify it, even as Adair squeaked, "Come she does, Master. A bit weird she does talk." This served only to make him chuckle lightly as it was like the pot calling the kettle black...whatever pots and kettles were. He did a quick view through the mice's eyes (which was more like viewing a movie that 'jumped' quite a bit..in this sense literally as his mice were fairly active creatures constantly moving, and the two views served to do little more than make him sick) to get not only a sense of where she was exactly, but also he was curious what she must look like. Honestly, it'd been a LONG time since he'd met anyone outside his family. Her voice was foreign, a bit sing-song yet a bit of coarseness...it made him curious about the creature that possessed it.
Giving a bow, he greeted her formally, "I apologize if I am intruding, my mice and I were exploring this area today to see..well, to see what we could see...as much as a blind lion and his seeing-eye mice can," he chuckled lightly. "I am Regulus, and..." using his a single feeler, he pointed out each mouse in turn, "...this is Riana, and he's Anair. We're not lost, but if we have crossed upon a pride's land..."

Patches' ears flicked a little as she heard the mice speak. The little animal reminded her of her mother and how the elder lioness spoke. Her nose twitched a little taking in the scent of the three companions. She smiled a little looking toward the bouncing little things. "No intrusion. Even if you did cross into the lands, I'm sure it wouldn't have been minded..."
Patches eyed him a bit. He looked normal albeit the strap of cloth across his eyes and the two extra flakes he had forming behind his head. It was when he didn't directly look at her and when the mice seemed to gaze at her, she began to wonder if he was somewhat impaired. "So..where are you going? And what is what with the...things behind your head? Do they help you?" Patches came a little closer, craning her neck so that her nose could gently touch one of the pink things. She couldn't help but giggle.

"Oh good, I had been lost in my thoughts for quite awhile back there, I wasn't sure.." Regulus used one of his feelers to tickle the female under her chin lightly when he sensed her lean closer. "They're sorta like flakes..but more specialized, more like bug antennae or an elephant's trunk if you get my drift. I use them to sense obstacles in my path when I don't have my mice with me, because...well, I've been blind since I was a kit. Not totally, though...it's a bit of a story. May I enquire as to your name? Your voice intrigues me so..."
Dark x Deception
As one of the pink tendrils came close to her, Patches remained still, stiffening her body. It was when it tickled her, she realized that he did in fact harbor no threat. She couldn't stifle her giggle, tail waving in the air in a content manner. She purred gently then stretched shaking her body. "Oh! So feelers help!" She got excited again using her mother's tongue. "Quite different. Very cool." Her dark eyes gazed over him again. "I like stories..." Patches blinked a few times coming out of her tickled trance. "I'm Patches. Nice to meet Regulus." She tilted her head a little. "My voice? Oh..well..that is a short story, sadly. Not long." Her head looked toward the sky then back to him. "It's awfully hot...would you and your mice like to come back to cool off at home? I'm sure Mother and Father won't mind company." She was now making a conscious effort to speak properly in fear that maybe she wasn't being understood...in all actuality, she loved how her mother spoke and did her best to mimic her mother as a cub. But maybe with other lions it wasn't the best idea...
Lunar Mirage
"Patches, hmm?" He rolled her name on his tongue considering it, then nodded. "You have a beautiful name, reminding me of cool green grass, much like your pelt, that grows near rivers, your paws of soft sand and hair of downy snow...." He hesitated slightly, just enough time to maybe become slightly confused before continuing on, "and no my mice didn't tell me what color you were. Nor is it a guess."
He grinned, pleased with himself, however her mention of the heat made him realize just how late in the afternoon is was becoming, as they'd left early this morning on this particular adventure, and how hot he was becoming standing there with the sun beating down on his dark pelt. "Coming with you would be wonderful, perhaps a swim would be in order if your family lives near enough to a river or lake," he ventured, "and if I may add, you've changed your voice pattern, but have no need to change the way you speak for my sake...if you think you talk weird, listen to Anair...Anair, introduce yourself to the beautiful lady. You too, Riana."
Anair, annoyed with Regulus, squeaked, "Talk weird do I not! Normal talk I this...." Anything else he said past this point became intelligible as he scurried off Reg to sit in the grass with his back turned to everyone, grumbling to himself about being teased constantly for talking in his own way, mostly by his sister. Riana, the quiet simple female, simply shook her head before she took her customary position at the top of Reg's head, gave a grand bow and said, "I am Riana, that was my twin brother, Anair....don't mind him. He's like that all the time. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Patches."
Using one paw, he scooped up Anair and let him scurry up his shoulder till he was back in his mane, still grumbling which made Reg chuckle. "All aboard? Good...shall we go? And I offer this deal, if you'd take me up on such an indulgence....an exchange of stories along the way?"

The female's ears perked as he spoke catching his words. His description of her was...almost poetic. She wondered how on earth he could make a perfect description of her so...it then occurred to her that his 'feelers' might also be a way for him to 'see' the world. She gave a gentle smile. "Thank you...words are very sweet.." Patches looked at him through her bangs then lifted her head up a little more.
Turning the conversation to another curious note, she tilted her head toward him. "Yes. It grows hotter...swimming is no problem. Family pride is near an oasis. Great day for a swim or a soak." She blinked, feeling a little trapped as he noticed her force change in speech. She was about to protest when he requested his mice to introduce themselves to her. She smiled a little lowering her body so as to get to Anair's level. The way he spoke reminded her of her mother. It was cute, even though he scampered off to pout, poor thing. Patches straightened up her body to get a better look at Riana. She spoke much like her father which gave a good contrast between the two mice. "Pleasure to meet Riana..and Anair." She smiled over to the brooding male mouse.
Once introductions were fully complete, Patches shook her body and trotted around Regulus so that she was beside him. "Sure. Ready to go." The lioness started off at a leisure pace trying to not over exert in such a heat wave. At his boon, she giggled and nodded. "Sure. Stories make for fun. What would Regulus want to hear?" Patches' tail waved off behind her, ears forward and erect in a curious, fully aware manner. The sand under her paws felt nice though the heat was starting to take effect on her foot pads. The cool water couldn't come soon enough!

If anyone was the epitomy of sparkles and all things girly, Sapphire would take the trophy. She oozed sparkles, and always had a sort of sparkly aura that never went away, surrounding her in a way that made her shine like a gem. Of course, this made hunting near impossible, but she had the advantage of ghostly siblings always willing to scare prey her way, should be alone and hungry...which wasn't often.
She was a Mama and Daddy's girl, happy to be at home and helping out with whatever, but today...she'd decided having a bit of a walk would be a welcome change. Wherever she went, a trail of sparkles graced her paw prints, and wherever her pelt touched the tall grass or bushes she might rub against. Personally, she rather liked the effect, especially should one view such a track in the moonlight, and it made her feel rather pretty. She was a bit full of herself, but having not had contact with many outside of her family, it was to be a bit expected. She was curious about others, but happy with her little life as it was. Little did she know of the future, and at the moment, she cared little about it anyways.

((Sorry for the delay, I wasn't sure how I'd wanted to reply till on my way home from work tonight!)))
"As long as you don't mind," he said while laying one feeler upon her shoulder, "leading like this, then I say we get the show on the road!" He was beginning to pant in the heat, his darker coat soaking in the sun like a parched plant might water. "This is just easier, the mice can be a bit...erratic...in their directions at times. As for a story..."
He thought for a moment while waiting for her to lead the way before finally coming up with a reply he thought suitable. "Well, I'd ask about you and your family, but I feel I should tell you of myself first. After all, personal questions require personal answers, and I think this calls for an even trade." He went on to describe how he'd been born like any other kit, able to see everything normally, but had been afflicted with an eye disease that left him hypersensitive to light. He described what it felt like afterwards, how it was only keeping in the darkest corners of the cave that saved him, but even then the light was bright. He had near constant migraines, and generally was not very fun to be around. Even full moonlight could bring one on if he ventured out...it was only when there was no moon, pure dark (or at least just before or after it'd disappear) could he remove the bandage to see with his eyes.
"The bandage was my mom's idea after she found some discarded cloth from a human settlement. She wanted me to be a normal cub, but even just closing my eyes wouldn't block enough of the light out. So, she tied this around my head and it worked. My father is blind himself, also not from birth, so he taught me how to survive and fight. He even taught me how to see through another's eyes, specifically Riana and Anair. He has his own familiar, using his eyes like he would his own, but...I've not quite mastered the technique yet with these two. But they're how I saw you..." And you are very pretty he thought of adding, but decided to stop there, a bit hesitant and embarrassed to say something so bold so quickly into this encounter. Realizing he had stopped, he tried to make up for his blunder by saying, "Um...so what's your family like? I'd love to know more about you and them..How did you come to live in such a hot place?."

Patches made sure to keep her pace light and slow as well as keeping close to him so that he could always sense her near. They began their little walk back home, the wind slightly picking up only to die down when it was getting comfortable. "Understand. Must be difficult." She nodded a little, tail waving up and side to side careful not to hit him.
When he suddenly spoke, Patches flicked her ears to the side often looking toward him as well in order to catch what he was saying. She listened to him intently even if it appeared that she wasn't paying attention. It made her wonder how hard it must have been for him where he was growing up...and this oasis wouldn't be a good idea. Her brain wracked with ideas for spots in their home where he could relax without much discomfort to his sight. There were a few places but at this time of day the light would still be shining. She could still try the home cave if anything. "Mother was smart! Saved you." Patches flicked her ears, flakes brushing against her back and his feeler. "Sure you will get it over time. Things take time. Like hunting...or walking...or swimming. Is not so bad. May take time, but life no rush." Her dark eyes looked over to him and she flashed a smile then gently nudged his feeler with her nose as if to comfort him.
By the time he formulated his question, Patches had already thought of what to say. She described the beginning before her, the story of how her mother was heart broken when she met Blake. Almost any time she met Blake it seemed. And he was always there to make Synda feel better. It was when a final confess was made that the two came together. Blake had a home in the oasis where he tended his roses, Synda's now favorite flower, and he brought her to that place frequently and then the last time permanently to live. She then described her older brothers, Halo and Neo, and sister Holly who were "little miracles" as her parents described. Once the children were grown, Blake and Synda had the twins. "Myself and my sister, Xiangmao! Out of all I'm the youngest." She giggled a little. "But it's fine. I stay at home with my parents and help them. It's nice and the oasis is surprisingly cool and comfortable. Halo comes back to visit. Holly too. Xiangmao is still around, but Neo has big family so he not visit so much. All in all, family close, very loving, very supportive. Best in the world."
Patches gave a content sigh at the sight of the familiar tree. "We're here! Few more steps in and you and mice feel better out of this heat. Good thing too. Sun rose higher." She began to sweat now, panting a little as the sun started to boil her from the inside out it felt like. Hopefully the small pool would be cool enough to swim in. There was always the shaded rocks too. "Oh! Thank you for story. Feel like I know you a little better now, Regulus. I'm glad and happy." Patches kept wanting to smile but...would he even see? She kept doing so anyway knowing that even if he couldn't see it, she was sure he could feel it.
