Sutiiven
But its not totally them. I mean, take the Muslims for example - in some Islamic Countries, Homosexuality is considered a CAPITAL crime! I dont know about you, but from the sound of that, I don't think it's 100% the Christian's fault. Besides, there are sects of Christianity that accept Homosexuality.

That's why I said Abrahamic religions, which include Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The East didn't have a problem with it until they were influenced by those. India, for example. Check out my history and geography link above.

In Asia same-sex love has known since the dawn of history. Early Western travellers were taken aback by its widespread acceptance and open display.

Oh man, y'all should read my senior research paper. It was on homosexuality and it's history. Basically, it was everywhere until, as Szen said, Abramic religions took over. The Torah (and therefore the Old Testament) forbids homosexuality. however, Leviticus (the book that it's in, the first time anyway), was written as a law code for the tribes of the people. It was meant for the survival of the tribes, and so if all the men were gay--no babies, the tribe dies. Hence, say it's illegal and offensive to god--no more gays! Certain current sects of Christianity today see the bible as not literal and to be adapted to current times (which I think is highly reasonable for christians) and so don't think there's anything wrong with homosexuality. Unfortunately, they're the exception, not the rule.

I'd love to read your paper.
There are a lot of things in the various religions that were established for reasons that were practical at the time but no longer have any application. I find it fascinating that people keep carrying out the tradition despite the fact that it no longer means anything.
