Kuro-kasai
Oooh! I remember now Dark! It was Rayne! Would you still be interested in her meeting Jysben?

Dark x Deception
[Pokéball go! I choose you, Rayne and Patches xd

@Kuro: Yesh yesh.
@Mira: I'se tossin' out Patches just cause. She can hang out with family or whatever 3nodding ]

Silent steps moved gently across the shadowed lands as the lioness prowled close to her forested world. Her body moved in a hauntingly graceful fashion, silver eyes seeming to stare out into space - at nothing. But she was all too aware of her surroundings, of things that went bump in the night. She was one of them. Hair brushed against her face, tail swatted at the air, maw slightly hanging open revealing dried blood sticking to her muzzle and nose. She wandered without purpose, without thought. But she wandered nonetheless.

A nap had always felt nice around this time. The green beauty was resting peacefully in the sands near to her home. She had wandered away, but only for a moment. Patches wasn't one to stray from home, but it did happen from time to time that the young girl needed space. Her tail often waved to her own tune, ears flicking causing her flakes to dance about her head. She hummed gently, eyes closed as she simply rested enjoying the weather.

Kuro-kasai
The sharp smell of a metallic crimson, blood. Jysben's stomach turned over and growled at him, letting him know he -still- hasn't eaten that night. Growling in anger he turned his head towards the smell and headed off at a brisk pace. The only sound he made was the soft shifting of the fabric over his powerful hind legs. His eyes were sharp in the darkness, having spent nearly his whole lifetime living in the night, the best part about his lineage was that he had the ability to be both a nightwalker and a daywalker. When he saw the white lioness, she almost looked like a ghost in the night, her coat so bright there was almost a glow around her. The only stain on her coat was that around her maw. Blood. Sighing with frustration he glared at her, his fangs extended. Usually normal lions, in fact any creature in these lands, knew not to mess with a hungry vampire.

Dark x Deception
It was when she sensed another's presence that her body tensed, eyes widen slightly out of their stupor. Her mind became fully aware that she was definitely not alone and now she was suddenly becoming the hunted. She snarled a little turning to face who was it was. A tan male dared to enter her territory and the way he moved, he looked as if he were on the prowl. Her tail lashed out annoyingly behind her as she bared her fangs, canines starting to lengthen. She had fed earlier, but it was a little taste of what was to come. As a blood drinker, she would need to consume more than just the small family of meerkats she managed to pounce upon before. Something bigger...something full of what she wanted. The smell was all around her, but the male was intruding on her haunt. She was growing annoyed of his presence. Again, she hissed wishing for him to leave.

Kuro-kasai
Jysben rolled his eyes at her hiss. She must have been out of her mind. "Don't you know better then to get in the way of a hungry bloodsucker?" He said, obviously annoyed. He hadn't noticed her fangs because he was more distracted by the smell of blood nearby and it was moving... possibly a wounded gazelle or zebra... something... it smelled delicious. He could almost make out its paniced heart beat. "You are standing in the wya of me and my dinner and I'd appreciate it if you'd move so I don't have to kill you to." He said with another roll over his eyes. His stomach growled at him again, only making him more agitated.

Dark x Deception
Her eyes widened as he spoke to her. It took her a moment to realize that she was one of her own, a kindred perhaps. How had he escaped her for so long? Only when he threatened her did she snarl again, her body tensing. Her silver eyes glowed fiercely in the night as she turned away from him toward the source, her stomach starting to growl. She kept him in her senses, however, ears laid back as if listening for him. "I am of you, daywalker." The female warned gently. "Hunt with or for, but never against me." She simply stated. "You are of my domain, my night." She turned and bared her canines again, maw slightly open to reveal more of them.

Kuro-kasai
The slightest movements caught his eyes as she seemed to be dumbfounded by his presence. "Little Sister, our meal is getting further and further away from us. If you'd stop acting like I was trying to take over your area, we'd happily be satisfying both of our needs." He said even more aggrivated than before. He was hungry, which meant he was easily angered. Great, another thing he inherited from his mother. "If you didn't have blood on your face I would have noticed a second sooner, but right now I can't exactly think straight and I'd appreciate it if you'd get over yourself so I can think straight again." He may have been a bit sacrastic but it was the truth... He had seen the gleam of her fangs when she had tensed again at his, what she thought, threatening statement. He had to give the the benefit of the doubt because she didn't know his sarcasim... He would jsut have to explain it later, their meal was about out of his senses.

Dark x Deception
It took her a moment to realize that...well he was right. Instead of arguing, they could both be eating their fill. His words found their mark in her ears, but she was still trying to register what everything meant at this current moment. All she knew was that her belly was cramping with hunger, and this male in front of her was willing to hunt by her side. A moment longer and then she was off chasing after the heart pulse of their prey. Her muscles moved under her ghost-coat, hair brushing against her face and neck as she leapt over fallen trees and slinked under branches. All in all, Rayne kept her predator's posture through all of this. Her eyes wandered the area until she finally located the animal. The male was obviously aware that something was in the dark chasing him, but it was unsure what exactly lurked in the darkness. 'It is here...' She cooed in his mind. She found it easy to slip into his mind, albeit too easy. Was it because he was on of her own? Was it that easy to speak like that with those of the vampiric blood lines?

Kuro-kasai
As soon as she had moved from in front of him Jysben was off, he closed his eyes for a brief moment to catch the direction of their prey and opened them as he dashed through the foilage. A ear twitched as he heard Rayne beside him. He knew she wasn't quite a new vampire because she was practically silent. It was hard for their bulky bodies to get through such thick brush in silence but they were doing rather well, their prey would have no clue. But he knew she wasn't the most experienced either. Although they were lions and it was common for lions to have blood on their maws, it was uncommon for vampires to spill that much blood. Clue number three, she hadn't recgonized him as a Brother... children of night knew their siblings, unless she was trying to hide what she was.

His mind was tumbling over these few little details until she spoke to him. She's definitely not a fledgling if she can talk to me... he thought, carefully keeping his mind closed to her. Stopping, he closed his eyes, trying to feel the presence of their prey. In a split second he was pouncing. His body landed on the wounded gazelle only a few feet from them, it had been hiding in the grass from them. Bring his paw down sharply on its neck, it was dead. "Sisters first." He said quietly, a smile trying to curl up the corner of his mouth.

Dark x Deception
He had kept pace enough with her, she was sure of that. He wasn't as slow or stupid as she thought either. She wasn't sure how their movements could be as precise as they were, but it got to the point where she didn't think about it anymore. It was all automatic to her - stalking, killing, feasting until she thought her belly would burst. Then doing it all over again after grueling exercise or a few lazy nights. Rayne never feasted just to eat or kill or maim. She had that much respect for her prey.

Her mind and body stopped simultaneously as he drilled through the foliage toward the animal. It was a wonder why the lone beast wandered about at night. Maybe it was a siren's song that blood drinkers were so adept at performing? Or maybe it was just dumb luck? Her eyes watched him through all her thoughts. She watched how unmatched the poor animal was against the male, how he easily broke the prey beast's neck. The satisfying crunch of bone made her back shiver in pleasant ways. Blinking a few times, it took her a moment to realize he was referring to her. "Sister...?" She was confused as she came slightly closer to the kill. The blood scent was overwhelming. Without much more thought her fangs drove home into the neck. Immediately the metallic, coppery taste of blood engulfed her senses. She closed her eyes as she drank but only enough to sate her hunger. With much discipline, she pulled herself away from the animal and pushed the rest toward the male.

The female moved a few paces away allowing him to feed licking her maw and paws as clean as possible. Her mouth was permanently stained with blood, bat marking (a seal perhaps?) seeming to be a sore spot among her white body. The gloves on her legs stuck to her like a second skin, blood markings on her feathers and flakes seemed to glow against the black. The spike ring on her tail shone in the faint light that seeped through the canopy of the forest. Rayne was strangely attractive in her own way, but she was more dangerous than anything. Her body radiated anger and dominance for her soul would be tormented. She was of the damned as her sire made it to be. It made her wonder why this male called her 'sister' if they looked nothing alike. He was her polar opposite in looks if there were to be something of relation. It never occurred to her that if her sire, the 'Count' was king of his domain, why shouldn't their be other nobles about the world? What if there were others like her, just not look like her? It was all too much, all too soon. She had always been alone in her forest drinking prey and keeping to herself afraid of those who would not understand her ways. She was also unsure of the sunlight, never daring to venture in it for long. The dark was her home...why should she venture to the light? Her mind wandered, her eyes gazing toward the night sky as if forgetting the other was there to begin with.

Kuro-kasai
Jysben was quick to feast and quiet. After a few minutes he brought his head back up and licked his maw once. He could have decieved any normal lion to make it seem like he had only been grooming himself with how quick and precise he had been. Shaking out his mane he sat down then, letting his gaze wander over her, she -was- a rather curious lioness. He brought his paw up to his mouth, this time he was grooming himself, and stared. The cuffs holding the sheer black fabric sparkled in the night whether moonlight hit them or not. The fabric rustled lightly when he moved his forearms or whent his shifted his rear. The skirt around his waist was very similar to an Egyptian style of dress, the fabric was light but also striking against his dusty colored pelt. If anyone knew his lineage, they though he'd be odd. A desert vampire? How could they even exist? Sighing he let his paw drop again.

"Sister, you should learn not to spill so much..." He said softly, looking at the stained blood on her face. He wasn't sympathetic but he wasn't demanding either. He was merely speaking. Now that he had a full stomach he could be civil again. It was all he said, as he looked her over once more. Yes, she was a vampire alright, but just by how she was actin he could tell something was off. "You looked at me earlier as if I where a dream... why did you do that?" He asked, his voice full of curiosity.

Dark x Deception
Rayne barely paid attention to him as he ate, though she couldn't help but linger her eyesight on what he wore and what he was like. He seemed to hold himself regal like he was some sort of royalty. His dress was obviously saying so even if his body posture wasn't. She stretched a little almost starting to calm down. It was only when he commented on how "wasteful" she was that she stood to attention. "I am not spilling!" She hissed. "Permanent stains on my face. Can't help that..." The female trailed off a little seeming to feel ashamed at how she looked. Maybe she was wasting too much blood...she'd have to be careful from then on. "And I'm no sister. You are simply a rare occurrence! I never met another...like me. You will only go away..." She simply stated giving a cough of a growl. "I will not allow myself to be tricked.." She said more to herself. Slowly, Rayne made her way back over to the carcass and nibbled on what was left just for the sake of playing with the dead animal. Anything to get her mind off of the fact that the vampire would leave soon. She'd be in her forest alone. Again.

Kuro-kasai
Jysben stared for a moment, trying to figure out th best possible way of approaching the situation. "Well, for starters, a name would suffice. I am Price Jysben, my mother is the Queen of the Damned, Akasha. I prefer Jysben because the only prince in my mother's eyes is my older half-brother Freniere. And I happen to have four brothers, 2 full brothers and 2 half-brothers. So there, you are not the only one other than myself and your sire." He stated simply. He was worried she would not believe him, but by the looks of it she really had no clue of the gift she had been given. "I apologize then Sister, for your stain, but one cannot change how one looks." His tail twitched a bit, making the fabric of his skirt shift. Lifting his head the moonlight glinted off his small crown, proclaiming his title to her, although it was usually fairly hidden in his mane.

"As for calling you Sister, you are my sister. We may not be of the same birth mother directly but all peoples of our kind link to one family, one Maker. An evil spirit took over the One's body and from there it had needed blood to sustain life." Hopefully this little bit of information would help her... for some reason he felt to need to help her. "I will stay for a while, you need to know more of what you are. Your Maker did a very poor job of showing you your gift." He added matter-of-factly.

((I know Akasha is called the Queen of the Damned, but it isn't far to play her as the 'origin' of vampires. So for rp sake and to make it fair shop wide I will just say the 'One' because that would make it more general and easier to rp with =] Especially for anyone who has a vampire character and has a background story of how it became a vampire ^^ ))

Dark x Deception
The white female could barely kept still as her body twitched. She was still listening to him, his voice seeming to soothe the chaos within her mind and her questions becoming quelled. But not for long. A flurry of more questions would come into her mind whirling and batting about like a tornado. His title - and crown - scared her a little. It was obvious she was in the presence of a higher being, but...what did one do when one found oneself in that predicament? A name might be good for starters...she had to cough and growl to clear her throat. "I am Rayne. Mother is..not of me... but Father was...of me. I ran when I was old enough...scared of Father..scared of me..Mother was never there...Mother not care.." Her gaze rested on Prince Jysben. She then became self conscious of her mouth and tried to lick off the perma-stained blood with much vigor. She quit after her mouth became dry with lack of saliva and her chin was dripping with it.

He kept calling her 'sister'. It didn't sound as bad as it did before, but...it still was strange to be kin and yet not kin to one such as he. Her tail twitched gently as he recounted the tale of the 'One' who made them all...who started this lineage. Suddenly, she jumped at his words. "Stay?!" She gasped, eyes wide, fur bristling, tail straight and feathers splayed wide. This emotion of...fear ran through her. It was new and it was... exhilarating but it was unwelcome. Before him, Rayne was perfectly happy not knowing, perfectly content in ignorant bliss living in her dark forests - but he changed that. Now he changed that. It then occurred to her that he was of royal line to the 'One'. She simply could not say no and leave. "....greatly honor....your Majesty..." She mumbled under her breath not really looking up at him until she felt safe to do so. "...home.....your home..." Rayne's head flicked over to give mind to the dark forest around them. The forest seemed to come alive when Jysben announced his stay for there was much commotion with the insects, rustling of leaves, and night animals about them for a few moments before it became quiet again. Maybe the forest was scared too...scared just as she was - and didn't like it.

[[I was slightly wondering about that, but I didn't want to be rude or anything like that. I figured that it would play itself out and things would be all right ^.^ Thanks for the info though. Rayne's mother and brother will be paying a visit here soon so that might make things interesting for Rayne and possibly Jysben and his family if they ever find out.]]

Kuro-kasai

((Yeah I would just consider them some kind of far down the line royalty. I really should go add that in my journal for Akasha... Oooooh Family! They can visit his family a little farther down the road. =] ))

Jysben watched with fascination. She truely was alone, at least, alone in this endevor. No one had taught her the correct ways... she must have had to figure out everything on her own. He shuddered a bit. He felt bad enough for any lion that had to go through puberty, but being a fledgling vampire and figuring it out on your own? He was surprised she was even still alive. His coat twitched a bit on his shoulders, as if there were a dozen flies settling on his back. A scowl crossed his features for a moment. "Rayne... you are talking to much and your mumbling. Please be more clear." He said irritably.

Heaving a sigh he shook out his mane, his crown making soft musical clinking noises, and he stared at her for a moment. He took in her appearance, apparently she was trying to clean up for him. "Stop, you don't have to act differently in front of me. And I told you, it is just Jysben." His gaze drifted off into the forest, as if demanding it to be silent for everything seemed to grow louder. The wind had picked up and it rustled the trees and grasses, the birds where squawking and even the crickets had started chirping again. He was annoyed again, but not nearly as bad as before he had eaten. "Come, we shall settle deeper in the trees for the day. Have you ever seen the sun?" He questioned lightly. He knew he was a specal case, not all vampires could see the sun. But where there more than his family? Now he was curious... He knew there were others out there... but she was the first he had met besides his brothers. He had started forward, his mind turning over ideas and questions, before he turned his head to the side, "Are you coming?" He said in a short tone.

Dark x Deception

[[That's a pretty nifty idea ^.^ Knowing Selene though, she'll be sure to poke her nose in her daughter's business as much as possible. Vladmir on the other hand is a bit...'bitter' for the most part. But we'll see how things flesh out xd ]]

Rayne had dropped into a case of self loathing for a few moments, her eyes brooding and dark. Her ears flicked a little as she listened to the sounds of the forest calling for their new master. It seemed as though the prince ordered everything around him. Rayne knew she probably was younger than most and well...it was a surprise that she was alive. It even surprised her own self that she didn't go mad with blood rage and kill everything on sight. How she had overcome the beautiful voices that urged her to feed and how she learned to stalk the nights and sleep during the days was something...automatic inside of her. She couldn't explain her survival tactics to anyone for she doubt that they would actually understand. When he became cross with her, she shied away a little, curling her tail around her paws much like a scolded cub.

The music. The clinks and chinks on his crown suddenly made her sit to attention. The music was beautiful and it soothed her nerves. It made her listen to him...actually listen. She slipped back into her arrogant self-engrossed attitude. She became the hunter that the trained herself to be when she was out on her own - collected, demanding, cocky, and dangerous. She stood tilting her head at the word. Sun. Was it that big orange thing in the sky that wasn't the silver one? "I..." She cleared her throat speaking louder. "I have seen the silver orb but...I've only seen traces of the orange one through the trees. I have not dared to look at it but it has touched my skin. Only little burns here and there, but I do not hurt so badly. More like an irritated bug bite I want to scratch." Rayne described her feelings the best way that she could, her nose and forehead scrunching and twitching a little as she spoke. When he barked a command at her, she quickly and silently went toward his side, her steps placed with purpose and power. "Have you seen the sun, Pr--ah Jysben?"

I feel like it's just me wanting the semester to be over with y'know? I have a few more weeks left and then finals. And then I start summer school.

Kuro-kasai
Mentally sighing, Jysben proceeded further into the cover of the trees. He was silent for a while, not because he was ignoring her, but merely because he didn't remember to speak. He had been alone so long, or he was in the company f his brother Freniere, that he forgot that with others it was polite to have conversation. As he walked, he held himself upright, his head was kept forward and he was silent. Despite the fact that he had clothing, he moved like a shadow. He didn't orverexagerate, it was just something that came naturally to him by now. Of course, when he had been a cub, he may as well have been a herd of elephants he was so loud. His ears twitched occasionally to the sounds around them, his tail twitched back and forth showing that he was deep in thought, but Rayne perhaps wouldn't catch that since she barely knew him. After a while, Jysben turned his head towards her.

"Rayne... why are you alone?" Was his first question. He had to know why her maker let her leave. Even though she had said she ran, it was common for makers to be near by, or at least know where their children are. He paused then, figuring it would be easier for them to talk for a short while then to try and be quiet and talk at the same time. As they stopped, Jysben sat, his attention focused on Rayne. "The moon, it is the moon you see. We are safe in the moonlight." Looking up, the sky was still dark as ink, but soon enough the moon would be over them. "The other is the sun, the orange orb. You should be careful then if your body becomes irritated by it." As she spoke he would be patient and listen to everything she said. It was her last question that he was wary to answer. "Yes, I have seen the sun. I see is regularly. I live in the desert, there is no cover from the sun there, but the moon is glorious when it is dark." He said softly, he ached for the desert again, it was where he felt at home.

Dark x Deception
As she kept pace with him, her ears would flick at the small noises that made up the forest. Her eyes, however, remained on Jysben. The way he held himself, the way he moved, the power in his body, the brooding, darkness of his eyes...it was all new to her. All strange, but it felt...comforting. Comforting to know that she wasn't, for the most part, alone anymore. She had...kin now. Her tail gently waved behind her quite comfortable in the silence between them. To her, it was an understood silence, a silence that she had been yearning for it seemed. Suddenly, he looked at her and she looked back at him meeting his eyes for the moment.

"I'm alone because I chose to be." She simply stated. "My sire had others...what is one less? I think....he thought I'd die out here on my own.." Her mouth curled into a small snarl at the thought of the idea, but she wondered if it would be something she would do given the chance. But she wouldn't leave her fledgling out in the cold on her own. She'd be there...in the shadows. When he stopped, she had to slow her pace and find a place to rest. She sat a few paces away toward his right side, her eyes taking him in. When he spoke of his home, she could immediately see the ache for the familiarity of his desert. She'd never been a desert but she wondered what it would be like. At the sound of it, she might be irritated with all the light but it would be fascinating to see. "Then may we go to the desert? I...I want to see..." Rayne said softly looking up at the black sky. "What else is all out there that I have missed...so much it seems..."

Oh, Kuro, did you enjoy your trip?

Kuro-kasai
Jysben sat and listened, his tail twitching back and forth showing that he was deep in thought. His ears twitched occasionally as she spoke. What finally pulled him back to reality and out of his thoughts was her comment about going to his home in the desert. He made a small "hmmpf" noise but it wasn't directed at her, although he realized after he made the noise that she probably would think it was. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly he looked her over. How badly would the sun hurt her? He knew there wasn't muc cover from the trees to where his home lie. He had managed to make a small shelter in the desert, it wasn't much, nothing but some large stones holding up the doorway to his tunneled den. He had dug his small den himself, sure he had to dig a little more everyday just to keep it the same size from all the sand that blew in... but that was besides the point. It was at least a day and a half of consistent travel to get there. "You really want to go to the desert?" He asked quietly, his gaze resting on her face, his eyes calculating.

Flexing his claws into the ground, his shoulder twitching again as if flies where irritating him, he looked up to the sky. "We can't go right away, I'm afraid you are too weak but I won't know how badly until sunrise." He said in a normal tone. "If you would like to go to the desert, you will have to get stronger. If we make our way casually to the edge of the trees within the next week or so, I think you may be ready. But it will take more than just time... when the sunrise comes, we will determine how much of my blood you will need. Hopefully not much if you say that it just irritates your hide. What about your eyes? It would be a shame for you to be blind... you have such lovely eyes. I'd hate to see them burnt." He commented as he turned, rising once more to keep walking.

Dark x Deception
Rayne took no heed to him really. She had just been speaking to make conversation but the desert....the desert was alluring. It was a dangerous place due to the extreme heat and sun but it...but it was something that made her curious. Strangely curious. Her ears flicked hearing his deep breathing. Again she found herself looking toward him, her dark eyes studying his form and the way the clothes shaped around him. It was obvious to her that he was a strong lion - both in mind and body - and one that did not seem to think so inwardly. There was that constant air of royalty about him that made her pause and consider him, something about a commanding presence. It was...interesting. She had never met one such as herself before, a presence that could still the air or making others turn heads to gaze upon her being. Sure he was prettier than she, but what did it matter as long as you were respected? At his question, she found her gaze to match his. "Yes." Rayne answered without hesitation, ears flicking gently.

"I know. I figured as much." She agreed, head turned to look around her then up toward the sky - to the moon. Strange how it had a name now...a name that was fitting and hauntingly beautiful. The moments of silence between them were long for she was thinking and battling with her thoughts. "I am not used to...your world, Jysben. I know that...to be part of it, I must become stronger. I...I am willing to partake in your plan." She blinked a few times then stood just as he did keeping stride with ease and grace. "Your blood? I...don't understand...why your blood for me?" It had never occurred to Rayne that her kind could and would sometimes feed off of each other. The mere thought confused her and honestly made her stomach coil in an uncomfortable way. She imagined herself sinking her fangs into Jysben's shoulder and drinking his life blood. She almost outwardly gagged. She snapped herself back to reality when he continued on about her skin and eyes. "Well...skin is pale so maybe it would get worse? Eyes? Don't know. I never looked up when I know the fire - I mean the sun claims the sky..." Her tail waved behind her as she kept pace with him. "Tell me more...of your world?"

Kuro-kasai
She is a wonder... Jysben thought to himself, making sure to conceal his thoughts to her. He wasn't sure how developed her Mind's Eye gift was, but he didn't want to take the chance, yet, of figuring out how much she could do. He was silent for a while before he spoke, still not quite answering her question. "My world, hmm?" He started, his eyes looking ahead, but not focused on the trees around him. It was as if he were seeing his desert, his hole in the ground, his safe haven. "It isn't anything spectacular... well.. to me it is, but to others, they find it useless. I think that's why I like it so much. It's very quiet." He was speaking softer now, his mind preoccupied with the memories of his home. It had been several months since he had been there.

"Someday, perhaps, Sister, I will take you there." he said a little stronger. His eyes no longer looked like he was looking into some unseen world, instead he was turned his head to look at her. "We shall stop here for the day. Tomorrow evening we shall move closer to the line of the trees and see how the sun affects you." The area he had chosen was dark, alluring... beautiful. The trees came together to form a tight canopy above them, moss hung from the branchs above and on all sides of them. They had entered the small area from a break in the trees but everywhere around them was closely knit; shrubbery, moss, trees, or other foliage circled them.

"Oh, any about my blood..." he started, for he had only just remember her reaction to him saying she needed his to get stronger, "I can walk in the sunlight without any problems, my mother, Akasha, is an Ancient. She can be in the sunlight without any problems. My father, Bahir is a desert pirate. I suppose that explains why I like the sand so much, but his body has adapted to live in the rough of the desert. I have received both attributes. As for you, with even the smallest amount of my blood it will make you much more powerful then your are, thus your resistence to the sun shall be greater. But I cannot determine how much of my blood you will need until I see how it affects you." He said matter-of-factly. He didn't find it odd at all to share his blood with her, it was as if it where normal to him.

Dark x Deception

Rayne had preoccupied herself by playing with the shrubs near to her forepaws. She had been listening to what little sounds remained of the night that was soon to wane into day. When her mind began to tickle, she blinked shaking her head a few times. Rayne was vaguely aware of something...or someone gently brushing up against the outskirts of her mind. It was alarming but the touch was nonthreatening. Slowly, her eyes turned to Jysben wondering maybe if he felt it too. Or was she really going crazy this time? The thought was pushed aside as he described the desert. She noticed that he seemed to be looking at something that wasn't there...his home mayhap?

Her head cocked to the side a moment as confusion dotted her face. Was he not going to take her now? It then occurred to her that she would indeed need to become stronger in order to even dare venture out into the desert. In time she would be of his kind and in time she would be able to travel with him to his world. Her fur bristled at the thought of seeing something new besides the dark, lonely forest. Rayne nodded and quickly went to work setting up a nest for herself. She busied about the small area grabbing twigs and branches with leaves still attached and assorted them upon the ground. After many more trips in and out of the brush she had managed to make a large nest for herself made out of the leaves and grass and shrubs. It then occurred to her that maybe Jysben would want the bed. Rayne turned to him and bowed stepping away from the nest for him.

While she had been making the nest, she caught him explaining about why she would need his blood. It slowly started to make some sense to her. His family lineage was adapted for such harsh environments while hers probably wasn't. "Ah. I see your ways now. It makes sense." She nodded in agreement, tail waving gently as she then began the arrangements of making another nest for herself. This one wasn't as elaborate or as nice as the first, but it was to suit her needs, not the Prince's. "I think sun on me may be bad..or worse. Again, it itches like bug bites about my body but...I have received no markings or rashes of pain." Rayne chatted as she worked, tail flicking and waving about her. When she finally settled her body down, she looked over to him then to his nest then back to him. "Come. We rest. Tomorrow my trial with the sun." She gave a wide, fanged grin then curled up into her tight ball to rest. She wasn't sleeping, but as soon as she felt the night disappear she probably would fall into slumber.

As she moved about, Jysben had been holding still, not wanting to get in the way of her nest building. He quietly admired the work she was doing on her bedding but when she bowed to him and stepped back he was slightly taken aback. Rarely did other lions, especially those of their kind, even recgonize his status. They usually cast him to the side, especially when he was with his older brother Freniere... quickly rearranging his features, for he had lost his calm collected mask that usually hid his feelings for a brief moment, he nodded his thanks and stepped into the delicately arranged nest. Had she caught his moment of surprise? He had hoped not, there were few things that caught him off gaurd like that.

"Tell me Rayne, how long have you been on your own? Is there really no one around who even cares to hear your voice? Or cares to at least see how you are every once in a while? I find it hard to believe that you have been alone so long. Even as a vampire... Most vampires have at least one companion. Whether it is another vampire, their family, or their pet..." He had laid down now, his posture still holding a bit of its regality. He was leaning back, his back legs stretched out in front of him, his front paws crossed over one another, his head still held high. "I am very curious to know more about you..." He added, almost surprised that the statement came out of his mouth.

[[ Oh I knew I was missing parts of it whee You're a life saver ]]

Her movements were quick and Rayne often kept her head down as she worked. Rarely did she look at him or even a glance. He was royalty and well..if he was a brethren of hers, which she truly believed, then he needed to be treated as such. When she was resting and almost falling to slumber, his voice broke to her. Slowly, she raised her head and looked to him letting his questions and comments roll into her mind.

Her voice was steady and her words were chosen carefully. "Since I ran. No one else but me...and forest. Creatures run from me. Know better. If someone does come to see me, I do not know of them. They do it when I sleep maybe." She slowly uncurled her body so that she lay on her side, back legs resting slightly stretched out. Her fore legs were side by side slightly apart enough for her head to be placed between. Her hair brushed against her face as her head moved to look at him slowly and carefully, eyes averted from his gaze. "Ask and I shall try to answer..."

Jysben wasn't confusing her. She took it as simply a prince poking and prodding at his subject. In this sense, she was in fact his servant and well..it felt nice to serve someone of proper rank. Rayne realized that if it had been any other male lion she probably would have ran him off or drunk him dry by now. But he was different... He had honor and respect and commanding authority. There was something strangely attractive and refreshing about that.

Sleep rarely came to Jysben during the night. He usually sat up, watching as the last of the stars disappeared with the lightening sky. Only then would sleep star to fill his limbs. Where he had chosen to rest for the day, he couldn't see the sky. He hadn't wanted to risk hurting Rayne but now he wished he had the open sky. That was the best part of the desert. "The sky..." He muttered to himself as he brought his gaze down from the canopy of branches back to her relaxed form. He hadn't realize he had interupted her sleep, well, near-sleep.

As she spoke, he picked up on her speech. When she didn't quite know how to answer she didn't answer in complete sentences. It was more an answer of instinct. Who needed complete thoughts when you were feeling your instincts? He had to respect this lioness, she had done everything in her power to survive on her own. There was no doubt that she had been afraid, tired, hungry, ... lonely. He had felt those once. "It can wait until evening..." He said gently, wanting her to sleep. He could see the fatigue coming over her. It was what happened to most of their race when day was dawning.

Letting the silence surround them he sighed a bit and looked forward, his gaze unfocused once more as he thought of his desert home. Even Freniere stole into his thoughts. Where are you brother? He thought, his mind too distracted to bother concealing his thoughts from her. He wasn't trying to push his thoughts into her head, his mind was merely ungaurded. Why did Rayne speak to him the way she did? Why did she treat him like the royalty he was? She was a very confusing lioness... that or, unlike many of their kind, just ignored the fact of his status. Certainly he didn't care when others ignored it, but she was recgonizing it and for once he didn't really know how to respond.

Sighing softly, under his breath, Jysben laid his head down over his crossed paws and closed his eyes.

Rayne stole a few glances toward Jysben. He seemed to be looking up at the darkness of the canopy as if trying to steal a glimpse of the sky. Her head tilted in wonder as to why someone would want to look up at the sky and the moon and the other small bright dots in it? Sure it was interesting and could sometimes be pretty, but...wasting night looking up? It was something she couldn't fathom.

Her tail waved gently behind her as she readjusted herself again adding more weight to the side of her body that was on the branches of the nest. At his request, she curled her forelegs into her chest and settled her head within the little space, hair spilling over her eyes as if a natural block. Her ears drooped a little, flakes brushing idly against her fur. Her breathing went into one of near slumber.

Then there it was again. Gentle whispers filling her mind. This time she kept still and listened. It was yearning for something. Reaching out for something. As the tendrils came further into her mind she slowly realized that it was Jysben. His thoughts were clouded and full of questions...about her. For once, she didn't have an answer herself about his questions. Why was she treating him as such if, apparently, others did not? Was it just pure instinct that she was reacting to him the way she did? IT just came so natural that she just didn't think about it....nor did she realize when she fell asleep.

----- Time Skip -----

It was like a haunting melody that made her body shiver. She was in the realm between consciousness and unconsciousness. Rayne called it "confusion" for many things could happen here. It was a realm she often imagined things such as a different life or a different form or possibly some strange realities. In this 'confusion' moment, she heard a song. A sweet, dark song that made her become strangely emotional and reactive to this. Quickly she followed this sound trying to find the source. It was there! It was in her sights! Oh that beautiful music! How she wanted it! She ran faster and faster and faster hearing the notes grow louder and louder and louder. There was a figure...a familiar figure that played the haunting tune...

Eyes opened to the pure darkness of the forest. Rayne was groggy and barely remembered anything...her nostrils twitched to find her scent and another's. Her body quickly jolted up with alarm, only to realize that it was Jysben sleeping to the side of her. Slowly, she started remembering last night's events and her interest in the desert...in his world. She shook her head then slowly went through the brush to get an inkling of the time. Parts of the canopy started to loosen and before she reached outward, she noticed the spots of the sun dotting the floor. It was a strange color...like the start of sunset. Dusk maybe?

With a quick turn, Rayne made her way back to the nest site. Once there, she would report to Jysben of her findings and ask of what to do next.
