Vesperi 10 years ago because of low test grades on a state wide test my city cut our music and art classes for elementary schools... so our bands dropped down to 30 members in the middle schools and 15 or less in the high schools.... but now due to my awesome new high school band director he's trying to rebuild the programs and our high school band is at 50 members and growing! ^^ we went to MICCA and won a silver medal and then we went to the Heritage Music Festival in Virginia and won a gold. So whatever happens don't let them cut the music and arts or kids like us will never expierence preforming that simply epic piece on a concert stage or football field! yeah it's not that our school is going to cut the music program, or anything but they're getting rid of a really good teacher who's made the band better. yes they are gettign rid of the middle school, and elementary art and stuff, but that's because of money problems that we can't fix because of the government. and i don't want to stop playing my instrument either.

Kagami_Hiiragi_9960 My School cut our assistant band director, Miss Gunn. Shes the best if you ask me. this was her first year here, and a lot of people gave her crap. She really is nice. You gotta get to know her. And i was peeved when I heard that. I mean, at least they didn't cut band entirely. But without Miss Gunn it wouldn't be fun. She has helped me so much, and I have gotten sooo much better! yes that's how it is for my band right now! Except we don't know if he's being laid off or not next year. he came the first year i started band and he's improved it so much more than what it was before.

Quill2018 I figured out why Government hates art type classes, they want us to be bland, be 'politicans', like anybody wants, like you sit there, nobody cares what you say, they want to make you keep everthing bottled up, somebody in the government is about to lose it, I swear it, music inspired half the things in the United States, if they think that cutting it would just be the same as cutting new arcetecture, art, and entertaniment, etc. It wounldn't solve ANYTHING, I heard that famous artists was inspired by music, again, WOULDN'T SOLVE ANYTHING!!!my band director and our super intendent told us that the government doens't care what we, the students, have to say. they told us that they ignore us and such because we are in the arts. but it's not like that right now. my state is causing an upraor towards these cuts happening, plus we have a representive coming to our school on friday, because we had so many people call him.

And this year with Miss Gunn we got a 1-1-1!! before my teacher ever came we barley had any people in the band and now we have like 40 people in the high school band (i'm from a tiny school). we used to not do festival because the person teaching us didn't understand the stuff even though she was quallified. then we got mr. krum and he was an amzing teacher who made us way better than what the band ever had been before him.
