Counting the hOmer

This year I put an alarm on my smartphone to remind me every night after dark. The last 2 years I didn't make it all the way through - this year I'm determined to count till Shavuot!

Counting the Omer is the traditional act of counting the days, like phsyically taking notice of the day and putting a token or marker, traditionally a mature wheat or barley corn cut from the field. To indicate the days between Passover and Shavout.

I always thought it was a useful way of the Israelites to remember to get seeds from the previous crop in order to grow the next one.

Having Omer apps my android phone to remind me has been great! The wife, kid & I gather together and count. The kiddo is 8 now, and old enough to join in.

well to bring everyone up to date last night people(including me) counted day 15. itry to help people keep track of days w/ my fb status

even if you missed a day you can still count the omer w/ a bracha its only if u missed more then one day then u count w/o a bracha. also sephardi minhag for women is that they dont count w/ a bracha only ashkanazi do.
