Trust me when I say I'm not a big anime fan, but mother ******** if I don't love me some Evangelion, and 2.22 was possibly one of the most intense viewing experiences I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

I had the hugest nerd boner the whole time.

The show has a really cool concept, but I just end up not having the time to watch anything >_<

I almost started crying I was so happy to be watching it. gonk One of the best movie experiences I've ever had.
Watching it subbed on such a big screen (I was in a little mini-theater) kind of sucked though. I could only see like a third of it while I was reading subs, so I kind of felt like I missed out on a lot of the animation.

They're redoing Evangelion as a 4-part movie series called Rebuild of Evangelion, and 2.22 is the blu-ray/dvd version of 2.00 which was the second installment.

It's not an exact remake, but sort of a re imagination of the original, with more or less the same plot and same outcome, and most of the same characters, but condensed and with additional characters and events and things.

Also the animation is updated and it's overall just a fantastic experience for anyone who liked the Neon Genesis series.

I was happy to watch it in dubs, but it's certainly one I could have enjoyed immensely in subs if I had to, it's actually one of the few animes I prefer the Japanese voices for, but I wouldn't have been able to fully enjoy the show quite as much as I would have liked if I was glued to the bottom of the screen the whole time.

Maybe it's partly because I live in Japan and I hear Japanese voices consistently, but I just can't ******** stand dubs. They ******** up the execution and emotion of every goddamned line. It literally sounds like a bunch of retards trying to formulate sentences for the first time. There are pauses in mystifying places, exclamation that sounds like the voice actor is trying to hold back and failing, and the rhythm of speech ends up matching neither English nor Japanese. For an aspiring novelist/director, and general fan of the arts, the level of inarticulateness is vexing almost to the point of personal offense.

I can understand that. My cousin always complained about dubs, since he himself learned Japanese, and that subs will always be better than dubs.

But, I'm lazy, don't know the language, and in the end for me, it works out just fine. =/

yeah dubs are 90%+ of the time gonna be better, english VA's just tend to be awful/cheesy... if japanese VA's are cheesy, at least we can't tell ;]

on top of that, i don't know why but in dubs the music is ALWAYS lowered in volume, changing the mood of the anime itself. FLCL was ruined by this.

Trigun is one of the few dubs I've seen and I thought they did a good job

The volume is lowered because they have to mess with it in order to erase the Japanese voice overs, at least from what I understand. If you know anything about audio manipulation then you know what I mean. If not then I can't really explain it cuz I dunno the technical terms.
