but on the opposite end the new gen has some pretty kick a** pokemon like blitzle and its evolution. and my personel favorite axew
Alright, I'm gonna jump into this fun zone of discussion. ANNNNND GO!
First of all, the
precise reason for remaking Gold and Silver was to attempt to bring back more people to Pokemon. The minute they had those people and the rest of the die hard fans that got D/P/PLT on there bandwagon, they announced a new game almost directly after HG/SS came out. Now all of the buyers of the remakes are all interested on the new games after they have played their precious remakes due to them being all fuzzy, warm, and nostalgic. THAT'S WHY the games came out as they did.
Secondly, I feel the same way as you. I also enjoy the fact they made these new games. I also walked a good three miles from a friends house in a group of four to buy the new games.(it was a wonderful adventure as we almost got run over several times walking back as we had our noses in our DSs') So I do sympathize with your arguement.
Third, I would like to address your term "Scraping the bottom of the barrel". To be completely honest, I believe every generation(excluding the first and second gens) was "scraping the bottom of the barrel". Of course I tend to have a different definition to this term. I'm sure EVERYONE has one pokemon from a generation that they have an issue with. Whether its how they look or simply what they are. I for one have a couple issues on how things evolve or how their typing is.(I'm pointing at you Oshawott and Tepig respectively) Of course regardless of what I think of them, it all comes down to the fact that they are POKEMON. I will always buy the games as long as they continue to exist even if I don't like their appearance or what they are, whatever. If a sixth gen comes out I will buy it even if they all look terrible from the get go. Odds are they will make something that appeals to my little nerdy brain.
