So, I finally bought another PS2 and regained my motivation back to play non-DS games, so naturally, I'm playing Dragon Quest VIII. I can say, I had troubles getting into it due to the overwhelming world map and my duty as an RPG'er to uncover every treasure floating about, but after giving it a second chance, I'm really enjoying it! It's sort of like IV in a way (characters with roles instead of changeable classes says hi), but with epic graphics and a skill system to boost the gameplay (gave Guv lances, Yangus axes, Jessica whips and Angelo swords).
Now, I'm just curious, I just got the ship and traded my first batch of mini medals in, how far is that? Hopefully there's still lots of gameplay left, it's too epic to be halfway done yet! D; The world map agrees with me, but never hurts to ask.

You've still got a fair way to go. Don't you worry.
Glad you hear you've gotten back to it and like what you see!

ThePersonInFrontOfYou You've still got a fair way to go. Don't you worry. Glad you hear you've gotten back to it and like what you see! Whew, should'da known better, a ship is always just the start to a journey, aye? By now, I'm just about to raid the Dark Ruins, but because my RPG senses are tingling, I'm now running around aimlessly in hopes of gaining levels as the inevitable boss fight in there is bound to be a standard Dragon Quest boss and that freaks me out! At least alchemy completion provides me a good excuse to grind. Also, the mode of transportation on land is one of the coolest animal mounted modes of transportation yet; I never get tired of the epic some as well as the beginning animation! Cats are awesome. >w<

I still need to beat it. sad I got to the final dungeon, before I had to leave my PS2 for school, then I forgot I had it. D; If you want advice, I'd say to not make alchemy and finding treasures on the world map #1 priority, as it takes time and makes the game a grind-fest and takes away from the game a whole lot rather than a fantastic game.

Alchemy should be a side thing, definitely. Focusing on it is a total drag. But finding treasures is, in my opinion, a lot less fiddly and time-consuming. But that could just be because I am a huge sucker for Dragon Quest VIII's overworld. I could explore it forever. And I kinda did. So finding treasure in those wide open spaces and finding all the nooks and crannies was fun for me, at least. You know me, I'm a sucker for colors, aesthetic, and wide open spaces.

I know I haven't been focusing on alchemy. Right now I'm stuck since I can't get Angelo to join me. I have seen him and HOMG that scene in Simpleton...PRICELESS!

I was hating Marcello for what he did to us though. That rotten b*****d...but it's all good now. I'm just working my way to the next area I have to go to.
