Perhaps it would have come as a consolation to Galatea to know that she did the same thing to him, repeatedly. This time however, her answer was hearteningly normal and simple and clear.
"I'd love to!" Which was the absolute truth.

"Truly?" Face lighting up more, her hesitancy slipped away at his positive response. "I don't want to impose but it would be so much help." Galatea shifted her weight from foot to foot and it was jarring to see her so carefully excited. "Of course, you should leave when you like and please tell me if you get hungry or thirsty or... Thank you."

"Absolutely." He said, grinning in the face of Galatea's new found excitement, "You're very welcome."
Hadrian stood and stretched, "People build houses with big teams, you know. I watched them do it once across the street from my mom's house. And the person who makes the blueprints holds them and points and tells everyone one to do."
He stepped away from the desk and rocked on to balls of his feet, smiling, "Which makes you the supervisor!"

"Oh, no! I couldn't." Flushing, Galatea shook her head. "I don't want to tell you want to do. Not like that. You're my friend."
Turning away from him slightly, she idled over to a pile of Legos, though, and touched the uppermost one with a small hand. She thought for a moment. "But I suppose suggesting is alright. Not that you wouldn't be able to know what I was doing from looking at the blueprints. You're clever enough, Hadrian, to know that."

"Well its your project, I want to do it the way you want." Hadrian said cheerfully, "So I think suggesting is important."
He joined her next to the pile of legos, and took hold of the one her hand was resting on - ready to pick it up.

Immediately, her hand came away and she looked up at him. The smile on her face was almost unreal, far too natural and free compared to anything she had offered before. "Yes," she agreed. "I think so, too." Then she bent to pick up another brick from a side pile. "Can we build the window first in the north wall?"

"Sure! Lets take these over and you can show me how you want to do it."
Hadrian's enthusiasm was terribly contagious by nature. This, he thought, is how Galatea should have the courage to be all the time - with a natural uncontrained smile.

Holding the brick to her chest, Galatea nodded obediently before turning on her heel to pad back to the half-completed house. "It's not hard at all," she replied. "Thank you so much for this, Hadrian. I... I'll help you with your house some day."
Carefully, she settled the Lego on top of another one, leaving a gap between it and the next - a window. "We just do it like this."

"I'd like that." He answered, following her lead and snapping his own lego into place.
With two of them, it wouldn't take long at all before the walls were all finished. It was a good way to spend an afternoon, playing with legos and friends.
