Okay I've got what you can call an intimidating build, ----I'm overweight, have a deep voice, i got picked on a lot when in grade school, and thus developed a rhetorical undertone to that same voice, and due to the being-picked on, i never really learned to smile.
I would say that gives me a lot of bad charisma, and so do plenty of my friends.
I'd like to improve it, but losing weight is an issue i'm working towards, so is there any other ideas/methods anyone can suggest to help me improve it a bit?

My advice would just be to not let others phase you. I would also say remain confident smile Because I find those that are confident, are approachable! The most approachable people are confident with themselves, and usually initiate conversation, they also usually do smile (I know you said you do not know how, but it may be something to look into, maybe practice in the bathroom with the mirror! Remember some funny jokes, imagine talking to someone nice, etc.)!
