Introduction:
This is an rp that Queenie, Jynstwin, and I started over a decade ago, so please excuse any mary-sueish-ness. We three have decided to post our parts as if we were writing it as a story, because in our over-decade long development, we have come up with a universal plot. Thankfully, because of our lack of details, this still lends it to be an open enough world for rping. There are a few characters, who, for the sake of the story, must be played. There is one that we have given to another friend of ours and we do not rp her anymore.
For those of you who wish to join in, please do not hesitate. We three only ask that you send us a description of your character, any special abilities, and a little bit of background via PM. (Please send them to QueeniePmonkey, or post them here). Additionally, we have some pre-made characters that have been long in disuse and would love a chance to be played again, so if you are interested in playing one of these characters, please contact Queenie, Jynstwin, or myself via pm.

The world and history:
Athalan is the name of the world in which this story takes place. It is a mixed world of technology and magic. Currently, there are two sets of deities that are aiming for control of this world. However, neither have good intentions for it.
The first set wish this world to be strictly scientific, technological, and abide by an unyielding set of laws to govern its existence.
The second aims for a world of pure magic, where chaos and chance reign supreme, where literally anything could happen.
Neither set wish to concede and their opposition to one another has left them completely oblivious to the fact that the world works just fine with a balance of both. Their obsession, however, is about to reach a peak, as they will vie for control of certain pawns to take control of the world, burning the currant to ashes, and start anew.
Long ago, these two were of the same group. When they split, there were a few who got left behind, choosing neither side. Instead, these "gray area" beings were left with little choice but to go and live on the planet they so longed to protect. Living on the planet, in their world, however, left them with the consequence of being more mortal, and thus kill able.
Of the few stragglers, only one managed to stay out of sight of her lost brothers and sisters.
She called herself "Lady J" because she was, initially, the tenth of twelve survivors. Lady J was the one who carefully cultivated the unimaginable types of roses that make up the forest as it is today. Each is said to possess different characteristics, and perhaps a bit of magic. Each species of rose also chooses a champion, a guardian- someone to protect and work with others of different backgrounds to exemplify the ability to create harmony in difference.

World description:
Athalan is far and widely diverse, with large, industrial cities towards the center of the continent. These cities have known to harbor all kinds, but are usually segregated with prejudice.
Towards the north of the continent is a vast mountain range that butts against the sea with sharp, breath-taking cliffs and dense forestry. Here, and towards the edges of the continent in general, can more of the mythical types be found, with the occasional human settlement.
In the south of the continent is where Blood Rose Forest belongs, butted next to a very anti-magic human settlement. Only those who wander here by accident or exile find the forest, because it has a protective shield that gives it the appearance of a vast and unforgiving dessert from outside perspective.
To the east is an actual vast dessert where a great deal of nomads, both human and non, can be found. Truly, these people can save your life or end it if you enter this place unprepared.
And finally, due west on the continent is a small mountain range that slopes into a breathtaking valley. This place is politely segregated.
A large freshwater river runs through the continent, bending gracefully around the large cities, branching off into smaller streams and ponds.

Blood Rose Forest:
Despite the outward appearance of a vast dessert, Blood Rose Forest is actually a thriving forest of trees and roses. From an aerial view, The forest is actually shaped like a giant rose, with a combination of streams and trees forming the outlines of the petals. In the very center heart of the forest is a small island surround by a large lake. This island contains poisonous black roses. Around the shore of the lake are blood red roses. In separate "petals" of the forest are also silver roses, ice roses, fire roses, crystal roses, golden roses, starlight roses, and snow roses to name a few. There are five guardians presently, one of which is the guardian of two types.
