::Astronomy::

The planet on which Telk is located is a small planet, approximately half the size of Earth, located within a solar system of only three other planets and one sun around which they orbit. Two moons orbit the planet, but the orbit of one planet is something more akin to a comet, being elliptical and only resulting in visibility once every three to four days. The planet has no true name among general population of sentient beings but more technological advanced populations (i.e. 'the foreigners) have taken to calling it 'Avela'.

Days are 26hrs long with a week still deemed 7 days. There are 390 days in a year.

Avela has three major continent masses, one located mostly in the northern hemisphere, one located mostly in the southern hemisphere, and one that splits the hemispheres more or less equally. This continent is the largest of the three and is further split into three regions. The center region has been named Telk by the native humans who live there. The northern most and southern most regions have no set names. Island chains are prevalent along all three continents. All bodies of water around the continents are salt water and all inland lakes/rivers are fresh with exceptions of anything that spills into the salt water oceans (brackish).

The next two largest land masses, excluding the continents mentioned, are located at either pole. These poles are completely uninhabited and are surrounded by frozen islands.

::Regional Geography and Climate::

The largest continent on which Telk resides is divided into three regions, with Telk being the middle portion that splits the equator on either side. The northern region is 80% snow and ice and mostly uninhabited by humans aside from a seasonally nomadic population and cold-weather tolerating animal species. The southern portion is desert closest to the equator with a string of mountains that cross along the east coast and across part of the horizontal portion of the region. Southern to that, the land is flatter and eventually will break way to colder regions in the southern most area.

Telk hosts various types of climate and geography, making it the easiest to inhabit portion of the continent. The southern region is more tropical like, with heavy rain and balmy weather throughout much of the year including much of the mountain region below the equator Temperatures below freezing are nearly unheard of in these areas. The northern region experiences all four seasons, with bitter cold in the winter and hot, humid summers. Mountains cross various portions of the region, with the peaks snow-capped year round in most cases.

Of the two smaller continents, the southern most continent is mostly desert wasteland with very few species able to tolerate it and no human life as far as anyone is aware. The northern continent is very similar to Telk in climate, with seasons rotating throughout the year with snowfall in the winter and balmy summers. The northern continent is where the 'foreigners' originate, having populated all but the very furthest reaches of their continent where the weather is more severely cold.
