Hard black hooves hit the grassy plains covered in midnight darkness. The trees behind the blue stallion tried to reach out and take him back into their protective embrace.

A slender black tongue flickered out, tasted the air for anything nearby, tasted the air for the natural surroundings. White eyes moved slightly in their sockets as the dark slate tail flickered.

"Interesssting,' the male seemingly hissed in thought aloud. This land was different from his, the inhabitants had odd tasting scents. There were plenty who seemed so much like a rabbit or hare, but there was also the taste of feathers too. What type of land was he coming upon?

The stallion moved out further from the forest, deeper into this grassy open land, his tongue flickering out like a four legged snake. The tail whipping back and forth behind him as if it was propelling him forward, not the strong legs that supported the blue body from below and giving him a serpentine grace as he moved forward.

Eclipse had now grown up. She was torn between her emotions. A lot had changed since she had been left on her own. The 2 demons had split up some time after the demoness had adopted her, and the green stallion had chased her off with threats to kill her if he saw her again. And she could not likely go back to family she had before that. So she was alone, broken, confused. What was she? Was she to be a strong proud demon....or the half blood she was and adopt nicer attitudes while still depending on meat, flesh and blood of other animals for her survival?

Lost in her own thoughts she continued to wander alone. The night sky was pitch black, the pale moon shining upon her dark coat. She preferred the night. The sunlight was too bright on her eyes and so she would hide and sleep during the daytime, but at night.....well....this was when she did most of her thinking and self reflection. She was a child of 2 worlds and as such, would generally be rejected by most of her kind. She had enough demon showing in her, that most would run on sight or drive her off out of fear or anger for being what she was.

She stood motionless, not far from the forest she called home. She sstood silently watching the sky, unaware of the stallion nearby heading her way

The flickering muscle slipped back into the fanged mouth of the stallion. He tasted mild sulfur on the air but the taste of prey-able horse too. An odd taste on his sensory tongue, nothing he had come across on the forested mountains where his breed existed.

The head turn and white eyes saw the silhouette of another in the faint star light. The tongue flickered out again as a soft breeze came towards him and curiosity pulled Saetan in the direction of the odd scented mare; gender noted in the last tasting.

Gently the slithering motion of his tail picked up again, the soft swishing of the course hair irritated him a bit. Why couldn't he have had one of the lizard tails some of the other serpents sported? Or one better, a tail with a rattle on it like the lead mare, she was a spit-fire though, and some of her breed.

Saetan halted his slithering advance when the mare's features became visible. Ah, be she was the coloring of a silhouette with what looked to be folded wings to her sides, face tilted towards the night sky.

White eyes watched for several moments, before the curiosity spiked in him. "Ssshouldn't thhhe winged enjoy thhhe sssky? Not thhhe ground?" the hissing question was not meant in a menacing manner, it naturally just had that type of tone.

Eclipse was lost in her thoughts when faint hoof beats finally came to her ears. Turning to look she noted the flash of a dark blue silhouette moving against the blackness of the night, before finally halting in place, as if watching her. Her nose told her it was a stallion. Stallions she found were very unpredictable and so she turned to meet him, in a defensive stance, just in case he had any ideas about trying anything.

She was in no mood for any nonsense so if he provoked, she was ready to tear his throat open. Her lip curled slightly, to show fanged teeth as she glared at him
. "What do you want?" her voice was hard and cold. She looked at him as he asked her a question. "I prefer to just look at it and think. My wings can take me no closer for even up there I cannot reach out and touch the stars." He didn't seem overly threatening, although his voice was almost that of a hiss to her ears. But she would not judge him for being what he was. She knew all too well how that felt as memories flashed through her mind of just such things that she endured.

She turned her gaze back to the stars a moment.
"what brings you out in the night? Not many are out at this time, which is why its when I come out. To roam the nights....alone." Her gaze fell now to the earth below her hooves. Indeed she truly was alone, confused ..lost.

Saetan watched the mare slide into a defensive stance. The show of fangs behind her lips, fangs far greater than the ones in his mouth, and his wasn't hollowed out like some of the poisonous horses. These the mare bared at him, Saetan was sure hers wasn't hollow either.

Her question hit his ears like a cold hard rock. So did her statement, though through the logic of touching the stairs made since, wasn't the fact having wings gave you more freedom than what those bound to the ground were forced to suffer.

Well some suffered, Saetan enjoyed the heat that radiated up from the ground at night after it took the beating of the sun during the day. However it wasn't as warm as in the midst of the dog days of summer, this still had a winter chill to it.

The forked tongue flickered out then back into the mouth as the ears focused on the mare. "I want nothhhing." He answered the mare's first question after she gave another and had fallen to staring at the ground and after she had looked back to the sky.

"Fewer active animalsss at night, asss you ssstate." Saetan pawed at the ground a bit with one forward hoof. "Earthhh isss warm at night too, not like thhhe mountain rocksss but ssstill warm enough."

His white eyes looked the dark mare up and down. Her defensive stance betrayed the mare with something of her predicament. Did he say anything and get a lashing with those fangs the mare carried?

Saetan kept his distance, never inched forward, the wariness of a snake one could say. "Sssolitariness, can be a curssse of itsss own and a gift."

Eclipse closed her eyes and sighed deeply. She guessed maybe he didn't understand after all? Or maybe he liked being on his own. "Its not voluntary, I assure you." Her voice was barely above a whisper. She had been rejected and chased away her entire life. Did he think she chose or wanted this? Or that she had not tried to find a place where she would be accepted?

She turned her head slightly, noticing he kept his distance. So he too was judging her. A tear slid down her cheek and her heart felt heavy and burdened. Why would no one just give her a chance and get to know her? Even she didn't really know herself or what she was, or what she was supposed to be. She felt lost. A part of her just wanted to end this life so she would be free of the torture and suffering she battled every day. Every day fighting the demons inside her, trying to find herself. Wandering from place to place, searching for a place where she would be accepted, and not judged for what blood coursed through her veins.

Finally she uttered a statement
. "My life is a curse." She stood with her back partially to him now. Trying to hide the tears that flowed down her cheeks

His tail twitched and he watched her, the words she spoke faint but he heard them. So she wasn't one wishing for solitude. Odd, the display of fangs...oh, she hadn't wanted anyone taking advantage of her.

The black forked tongue flickered out, and he could taste the tears on the air. Some part of his cool body felt sympathy for the mixed demoness. He moved forward towards her now, the threat of being injured lessened in his mind.

"You are not cursssed. Windsss are tesssting you." The stating hiss came as soon as her last words dropped from her mouth and the partial back was turned to him.

"Life isssn't easssy, but it ssshouldn't be too tough on one eithhher." Saetan came from a breed that only kept around in numbers to protect their mountain, but other than breeding and that, they tended to be alone. A lonely life, but life of cursed serpents.
