Aakosir Shadows-shine What I don't understand is why didn't the government pass a budget in the first place? They were supposed to do on Oct 1st of last year. Now because it wasn't passed for this fiscal year, we are stuck in this mess on a pending and very likely shutdown. I have been wondering about that also. Wouldn't you think the budget would be number one priority? Or have there been so many arguments about it that it has gotten pushed back this far. I doubt that. It seems clear that they are thinking about other things of less importance.Look at the minutes from today's session in the House. It'll do horrible things to your blood pressure.

I just noticed on the news though that a deal was struck and there is no pending government shut down.

Aakosir Why would a rep. have two residences? One is a summer home or something? And if a rep. doesn't have a good savings account then something is wrong there. My husband is an E-4 in the Marine Corps, the lowest paid of all branches, and we are the ones who live paycheck to paycheck. I doubt her story. But what's with the two residences... They're required to have residencies in the Washington DC metro as well. They live all over Maryland and Northern Virginia in addition to where ever the family home is.

I don't think I need that right now. My BP was already high at the doctor's yesterday...

I saw a headline for an article, but I think I'll check it out a bit later when I am a bit less stressed.

Hotels and condos are fine and dandy for short periods of time, but reps spend a lot of time in DC over the years and that type of hotel money would add up past a mortgage value in a couple of nights in that area. You get the right kind of mortgage you can sell the home after you're no longer in office. I'm sure reps get certain perks on home buying as well.

So has anyone heard anything on a budget decision yet? All I keep seeing are articles about "the sacrifices" and some other BS... I can't find if they actually did make a decision, but I'm guessing they did because we got paid.
