The dig site is a large square that has been dug into the earth. A tarp protects the site from the elements, and a short set of stairs lead down to the level of the ground. It's less like a hole and more like a pit.

The cave is at the bottom of Mount Halcyon, where the miner scours the walls and ground for anything of value.
