Volcarona
"When volcanic ash darkened the atmosphere, it is said that Volcarona's fire provided a replacement for the sun." -Pokemon Black Pokedex entry
So, Volcarona. One of my favorites from 5th gen. Thought I'd snag this one before Ty took it from me. Lets have a look at the stats of this flaming bug.
-HP: 85 -Attack: 60 -Defense: 65 -Special Attack: 135 -Special Defense: 105 -Speed: 100
Base 100 speed isn't too bad, and look at that awesome Special Attack stat. That's nice. A relatively decent pokemon, here. His typing, fire/bug, gives him a whopping three weaknesses. Lets look at a few good things about Volcarona.
-Overheat: Pretty strong as it is, with a base power of 140. Combined with STAB and a high special attack stat, this move is great and will do a lot of damage. Just watch out for the special attack reducing recoil.
-U-turn: A great move for any lead pokemon used for scouting. Attack and switch out at the same time. Great for dodging weaknesses.
-Flame Body: Not only does this ability give opponents a 30% chance of getting burned when they touch this pokemon, it also helps with hatching eggs. Always a plus.
Some of the more unfortunate things about Volcarona, now. Gotta take the good with the bad.
-4x weakness to rock types: Good thing U-turn is there, right? Rocks should be avoided with this guy.
-Low attack: And unfortunately, Volcarona can learn a LOOOOOT of attack moves. Not too many good special attack ones.
So, pretty good pokemon here. Rather decent stats and a good ability means this guy will most likely find a spot on my gym team. Unless I find something else better. And maybe even then.

the problem with flame body, is that the moves need to make contact to cause a burn, meanwhile the majority of contact moves are physical, so he wont be living too many of them to make too much use of the ability.
You never mentioned quiver dance, raises his sp atk, sp def and speed by 1 stage. after this he will out-speed pretty much everything, and transform in to some sort of shandalure/blissey combination with an extraordinary special attack and huge special defense.
then add in his main signature attack, flame dance, which may look weak at 80 base power, but with stab it 120, AND it increases your sp attack 1 stage almost every time you use it.
life orb only further increases the devastation.
finally, add in his stab bug buzz for power, and coverage, and either hurricane/gale or a hidden power to complete the set.
This is an amazing pokemon, who can sweep entire teams with ease given the appropriate chance to set up.

I don't know how it gets better than this. You take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless. Volcarona, hm? I've heard this pokemon was pretty awesome, but... the typing is so odd that I didn't think of adding one to my team. I think after reading this, I may consider doing that. 3nodding
Oh, and I know what you mean about Ty trying to steal the pokemon from yew. >_>""" *hopes she can do Scolipede before he does v.v* I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress, fearless<3
