Charybdis Trench
Shrine | Water | Element

User ImageBy far the deepest point in Axiom, Charybdis Trench has yet to be completely explored as even the deepest dives into it have yet to even glimpse the bottom. It's location far from any civilization and/or dry land also makes it expensive for such extensive explorations to be undertaken frequently, adding even more mystery to it. However, other than the time needed to travel to it, there are few obstacles as the stretch of ocean it is in is relatively calm while simultaneously flourishing with wildlife. Monsters are a common sight, obviously for such an untamed portion of the world, but unless they are attacked, they will not attack. At least, that's the rule for the area outside and near the surface of the trench. Travelling within the trench is much more dangerous as the deeper waters seem to breed much more aggressive monsters. However, such dives are also sought after at times as some of the strongest sea monsters are known to make their home within Charybdis trench. The immeasurable depths of the trench also hold a secret. The flow of water's energy is strong within it, making it the ideal place to master the water element.
Traveling into the trench, the first three posts of a dive are fairly peaceful and much like traveling outside of the trench. After the first three posts, however, things become dangerous. For five posts, roll a four-sided dice: 1 and 2 bring nothing, 3 brings two Walpers, 4 brings one Elber. After these five posts, the level for the largest monsters has been reached. From here on out, the traveler will simply have to swim around on roughly the same level to find a monster. Of course, even this requires chance, so roll a six-sided dice: 1 brings the monster that the traveler wanted, 2 to 4 bring three Shielas, 5 and 6 bring two Floor Dwellers. For those in search of more, specifically water users looking to master their element, it is necessary to go down deeper, much deeper. Roll a ten-sided dice: 1 to 4 bring five Walpers, 5 brings a Turtle Titan, 6 brings three Floor Dwellers, 7 and 10 bring nothing, 8 brings three Shielas, 9 brings a Machine and two Elbers. After ten posts of this, the traveler will reach an area rich enough in the essence of water to complete their water element training even if the bottom of the trench still can't be seen. Here, they will be able to meditate in peace.

The lies, the betrayal... every last treacherous event that had led him to this very imprisonment. This deep dark oblivion, where not even the faintest rays of light make their way down towards this godforsaken pit. A void; timeless space where naught was present, save for the crushing weight that never ceased to remind them of it's presence. There they remained for only Michael knew how long, unable to escape, unable to even think... and yet unable to die, strangely enough. As if even the afterlife were too sweet of a mercy, too divine of a blessing to grant this deadly duo. If the the non believers would have had it their way, nothing but an eternity of nigh on unbearable suffering and eternal lightless damnation would await the pagan and the magnificent beast that had partnered itself for life with him. If there was any way to reverse this ill begotten destiny, to regress the unpredictable calamity; he would surely take it... but certainly there was no route out of punishment such as this. What could be done but holding on to perseverance? They would endure until the right time came however; and it would come. Sure enough, as every dog had to have it's day. Mother Gaia herself even grows restless at the imprisonment of her children; and seeks to help in the only way she knows how; through raw power and natural disaster. The drake feels it before it's master; a subtle shifting beneath it's claws that turns into traumatic shaking as tectonic shifts occur right underneath them. The fact that an underwater tremor of such proportions didn't send some manner of stray underwater rubble tumbling upon the two was a miracle in itself, but what happened next was nothing short of divinity incarnate. the disturbance managed to shift the massive weight upon their shoulders; if only for a mere moment. This was all that was required to make the great escape. Bubbles of immense proportions release from the dragon's mouth as he let's loose an epic roar, muffled by the ocean all around as he transfers all the strength manageable to Tiranus. The god's roar matches the intensity of his partners, blood vessels within a heliotropic visage threatening to burst as the weight on his shoulders slowly shifted. Veins and arteries bulge under dark skin, muscles expanding and straining with the sheer effort of his battle with the hill atop shoulders until the mountainous mass of earth surpassing the size of even Vexion himself moved enough for the sky warrior to cast it from his back and off of the edge; deep into the abyss below. Where it would land he knew not, but good riddance.

GO! both scream through their mental link with as much urgency and power as possible, their one wish finally granted; freedom. Robbed of all senses and any form of direction, there was only one way for the pair to go; up. The chains which were used to bind forms of pure grandeur are of no use; and barely even slow them, let alone stop. Magically enchanted metal links and shackles crack and break like pottery against a hard surface. Ivory claws scrape against the rock below before pushing upwards, and as the weight grew less daunting a sliver of light shone above them. The little ray of hope grew brighter and brighter, the weight lighter and lighter, dancing with jubilation about what was obviously the surface of the ocean. Did their domain still exist? Were the skies what lay right above? Suddenly a scaled snout breaks the surface, and breathes the first delicious breeze of fresh air that it has had in an eternity. Immediately afterwards the remaining mass of scales and muscles encroached upon open air, the shoulders of which were bearing upon them a rider sent from the heavens themselves. Like dragon like dragoon, and so it is that the god of war revels in his first breath of fresh oxygen. Never did he think the day would come when they appreciated the very air that was granted to them... until now that is. Droplets of water clinging to ivory scales shone as bright as tears from Kaminae themselves, giving Vexion a glorious appearance that rivaled even the pagan which he guarded; an entity both magnificent and terrifying in every way, shape, or form. The sun sets behind the duo in perfect backdrop, the gales of their very domain blowing through jet black tresses and tossing them about wildly as their owner laughed giddily, whooping triumphantly as a single armored fist is thrust into the air. Glorious the duo was in every way, shape, and form. The Apex predator of the skies roars his triumph as well, tongues of bright and cataclysmic power erupting from a wide stretched maw, flickering past razor sharp teeth as if in celebration. At last they had done it; through circumstances none could predict, and a favorable hand cast by and perhaps even manipulated by the lady of fate herself. At last. it hums in it's master's mind through their bond; practically purring at the thought of vast green expanses beneath wide open wings, for the taste of something other than salt water, and for the sensation of anything other than thousands of tons of water pressing down upon his back; threatening to grind them down at the faintest sign of weakness. They had fought back, and against all odds proved victorious. against the odds and had proven victorious. Indeed Vexion. Free at last... and now you know what it is that we must do? It is asked plainly, and answered with a silent, grim nod. Vexion was not a vengeful soul; such childish notions were beyond a being such as him. But the effects of the imprisonment upon his master had been clear. They had inadvertently warped the war god's mind, and stained his heart with the inky black of retribution. It was the one emotion; the one feeling that remained constant within Tiranus throughout that time period. That which had once sought to be nought but a savior and guardian had turned it's back, seeking nothing less than the power to carry out his own plans. Nothing could steer them from this fate, and Vexion had enough time during their torture to understand the man's mindset. However irrational it could not be helped, and would not be dropped. All that could be done was to aid the god in his endeavors. Despite it's colossal size, the drake manages to soar and sail through the clouds at a speed more than thrice than that of the birds around them. It was as if the heavens themselves were at their command. Onwards they head towards the horizon; to a land where the sun does not shine. It is within this shrouded land that he seeks to find what all men in this world seek to find... strength and power.
