With this app, you can participate in a whole community of people interested in the flora and fauna growing around us, and help scientists (the professional kind) discover more within their research projects.

NOAH (iPhone)

You can photograph an interesting plant, bug or animal that you want to learn about, send in the photo along with a little info about where you found it, and store it in the species database. You can sort through the database to find out more about the flora and fauna around you, and your uploaded data will be added upon by local experts.

Survive!, or The Survival Podcast's Android app - I haven't explored this too much yet, but it's basically a collection of podcasts with self-sustainable/survivalist living in mind. Some of the subjects I see so far include: homebrewing, converting raw land into fertile land, storm pepping, and bow deer hunting [ eek ]

I sort of wish i had a better phone so i could get the app's that allow me to have access to more information all the time lol.

The Survive! app seems like something i would get.

I recently got the free version of Peterson's Feeder Birds of North America for my iPod Touch, and I'm really liking it so far. It has beautiful illustrations of males, females and juveniles, maps of ranges, and songs. There's a full version available too, but it's *really* expensive.
