Archie was bursting with pride at what felt like the best show they'd ever done. Not that there was a lot to compare to, given how new the act was...but still, it seemed very much like they'd been very successful, and that made him feel great.
More importantly, not only was Archie part of a very successful circus (even if he was just the barker)...he was part of a successful circus that an old friend had just watched, which made him infinitely cooler. For once in his life, Archibald was actually cool. That was the most awesome feeling ever.
Excitedly, he made his way into the arena, fitting Clancy back into his harness and tying him out to the stake, pulling down handfulls of greens and flowerbuds and -- as they'd just figured out what ladybugs eat -- a small bucketful of half-paralyzed smaller bugs.
That done, the hedgehog rocked back and forth on his paws, smiling shyly as the others were invited to come over and see the circus star. He knew, rationally, that they were coming to say hello to Clancy...but he let himself pretend for a little while that they were coming to see him.

“Come on…Come on!” Newt tugged at Abeya’s arm as he rushed over to meet Clancy. “Wait, Newt, I gotta…” She turned towards Tristan, but was yanked before she could offer up payment for the show, “Oh…never mind!” If he really wanted payment, I’m sure he would search me out, no need to worry about it right now, she thought to herself. She stumbled a bit, trying to keep up with Newt’s swift little legs. “Oh boy! This is so exciting!” Newt began to bounce as he made his way towards the Wonder-Bug and his Keeper. “Hey there!” He called out gleefully to the hedgehog kid, "Wow…you’re so lucky…getting’ to hang out with such a cool bug!” He got as near to Clancy as Abeya would allow him, glaring back at her and then smiling at the hedgehog again, “Can I touch his shell?”

The circus show had been the neatest thing Switchfoot had ever seen and the young bat pup had eagerly hopped and crawled and swooped her way to where the wonderbug was now tied up. Clancy was still just a little tasty looking to Switch but she knew better than to try and eat such an important creature. She also knew that it would be wrong to ask the show's start to share his partial meal of incapacitated smaller bugs.
Instead Switch just smiled and shifted her bright blue gaze between Clancy, Archie and a dark furred mouse boy she didn't know. It was hard to choose who to focus on, to decide who she should talk to first. In the end the little bat chose to speak to her fellow former orphan first. " That was neat, are you going to do stuff like that soon, maybe take out your spikes and throw them and make a pattern or something?" Surely if Archie had run away and been accepted to a circus than he must have hidden talents that would make for good shows as well.
