Mozhgan was ecstatic. She had been taken from a pride where she was either abused or neglected to one where she was showered with attention and love. No one seemed to care if she wasn’t dark enough and respect was always given whether she was amongst family or in the presence of strangers. She was even getting along with her father’s beybanu, who she’d been somewhat wary of on the first few days.

But what had the young girl in such good spirits was the fact that daddy was taking his children to see their grandparents. It sounded like a wonderful idea but it did not go exactly as she’d expected. Right at the entrance of the den, she’d met her grandfather and he was rather… intimidating. Even in a pride full of demons, the dark lion would’ve stood out. Mozi endured his gaze with difficulty, sitting straight and trying to look like a proper banu as Anwar introduced her, knowing that it was not her place to speak… not that she’d wanted to or could’ve for that matter. She was terrified of Tariq and it was a relief to be quickly dismissed from the males’ presence. Her father told her to introduce herself to the others but the den seemed to be rather empty at the moment. She padded forward softly, letting her eyes slowly get accustomed to the darker place.

“Hello…?” she spoke quietly almost in a whisper.

Ukoo had been inside the den, busy staring at the wall. Now that her children were gone, she was mostly alone these days. Not that it bothered her much, she'd rather be alone than around Tariq or Otep. She sighed, leaning her head against the side of the den, her red eyes glazing over as she sat in thought. As happy as she seemed around her family, she was very sad. Very lonely. Very alone.

When she heard talking outside the den site, she perked up, recognizing her son talking and a voice that was unfamiliar to her. She perked up as Tariq went out and could hear more speaking; she decided she wanted to know what was going on. She stood, favoring her sore paw like usual, and padded to the entrance.

Her red eyes peered past Tariq and not at her son, but at the child before her. A smile crept across her face, as she stepped around Tariq, rather rudely; and to the girl. "Tariq. Don't be rude..." She said sternly, before turning to the girl. "Hello there..." She said softly to the child that resembled her.

Mozi looked in awe at the lioness who had dared to speak to the demo- her grandfather in such a way. Immediately, her jaw dropped and her eyes travelled down to look at the lioness’ paws and then back to her own. Same markings. And the same black markings around her eyes as well and red eyes just like her – though her mother also shared that trait. Their coats were also similar even though Mozi’s had a greener hue, perhaps due to her father’s influence. The young girl barely noticed the wound and gave it no real importance, obviously amazed by what she was seeing. Her markings… they were just like Zadok’s. She was definitely family and looked nice, too, which brought a wide smile to the girl’s expression and a strange feeling she couldn’t quite explain welled in her chest.

Unsure of what to say – and because the dem-her grandfather was still close enough to hear them if he wished – the little lioness turned to the polite speech her father and his banu had taught her.

“I’m banu Mozhgan, daughter of Pad Anwar’Mazin.” Her tone would probably give away the fact that she had been practicing her formal introduction. But her voice grew softer when something spontaneous came out. “Grandmother…?”

Ukoo smiled down at the girl, not caring if Tariq was glaring at the back of her head with an evil eye. She knew she was on the way to Kaejira, she didn't care. She wasn't happy here. She wouldn't ever be happy here. She knew that someday it would come to that, for now, Tariq put up with her for his fear of her was keeping her there. Her powers were to great.

"Hello Mozhgan. I am Ukoo. That there is your grandfather, Tariq. I am grandmother. Yes." She said with a grin, stepping over to give the girl a soft nuzzle on the top of her head. "Come, walk with me child. Your father and grandfather can entertain themselves." She said over her shoulder, knowing her son wouldn't mind the suggestion and that Tariq would punish her later for such bold actions.

She began to walk, her eyes gathering in the sight of this child-who was so similar to her. "Have you been enjoying your new home with us child?" She asked, happy in every way at this moment.

Mozhgan was still staring at Ukoo with a happy dumbstruck expression when she received the little nuzzle, narrowing her eyes contently, a tiny purr threatening to become rather loud as it slowly increased in tone. She wasn’t really used to cuddling just yet but from Ukoo, who looked strong, kind and so much like herself, it was strangely easy to accept the physical gesture. She pointedly refused to look at her grandfather in the eye – though the young girl did bow her head to the male and waited for her father to nod her off before following after her grandmother. Mozi thought she was the most amazing lioness she’d ever met.

“Yes. It’s so different here. You sleep during the night!” she said excitedly and overt displays of emotions weren’t really something Mozi often did. The pride’s sleeping habits still surprised her even if she was used them by now.

Ukoo smiled down at her and couldn't fathom how anyone wouldn't sleep during the night. She nodding her head thoughtfully, understanding that some prides are different than others; and that must have been normal for her past pride. "Yes. We do... I suppose it was normal for your old pride; judging by your reaction." She smiled. "I too came from a pride that slept during the day, back when I was younger." She said matter of factly, hoping that this would help draw them together.

Not that she wouldn't be anyway.

"My past pride was very unlike this one... but I won't bore you with the details of that..."

“Really?” the young girl’s eyes lit up. Maybe The Ukuucha’Wafalme was the weird pride, after all. And, apparently, her grandmother was also from outside the pride which was an encouraging thought. She might be able to help the young lioness adjust to all the unfamiliar customs and duties expected of a lioness… no, a banu.

“I’d like to hear about it.” She said honestly, not even considering the possibility that Ukoo’s memories of her former pride could be anything other than pleasant. “My mother’s pride was pretty scary. They were always fighting and pale lions were slaves. That’s why my dad brought us here.” If all the cubs had been dark, there is absolutely no way that Rhaen would have allowed them to leave so easily.
