It was a pretty gray day outside. It was early afternoon and the sky was heavy with dark clouds threatening to rain down on anyone who ventured out. Not really a good day for little small businesses. And not very good for a candy shop. Not many people would brave a storm just to get a handful of jelly bean or risk getting soaked to get that slice of fudge. But even if no one would come it was a working day so someone had to mind the shop.
So it looked like today Elaine Laimere got the short end of the stick and had to come into work. But it was not all bad, when she was going to be working the shop fully alone she was able to allow Achille to actually help run the shop like a worker.
]And so it was that Achille was staring out the glass door into the dark clouds. "No one come?" He asked in a soft little voice. His large fanned tail swayed behind him as his dark eyes saw rain starting to fall a couple roads down. "Rain rain!" he giggled and ran back to stare at the pretty tasty treats his mother was setting in the display cases.

Dayo hated being in trouble.
He hadn't meant to do anything bad! He was just... it was so lonely at stupid Uncle Cat's house! No less, even Cat had to go to school. The little duckling hated, hated, hated being alone. Especially being alone in Cat's stuffy old house! There was nothing for him to do there and it was lonely and sad and all he could do was sleep or watch really bad teevee.
So he had done the obvious thing: Gone to find his Mama.
With his little wings, he'd managed to half-float down from the window of Cat's apartment, scraping himself up a bit on a little too hard of a landing. From there, he wandered and wandered until he finally found a school ( the toddler was blessed-lucky that he'd actually found the right school ). Yet, when he found his Mama... well, Mama hadn't been happy with him at all.
Quietly, the little crossdresser cried to himself as he was pulled down the street by his more-than-a-little-upset Mama. He didn't mean to be bad...!
Luckily for the sad little duckling, Damien found his anger dissolving as he walked. It helped that he couldn't stand to hear the way that his young 'son' cried, all whimpery and pathetic and heart-wrenching. Sure, when he had bust into his gym class and tackled him with a joyful cry of "Mama!", he'd been close to losing it. But now... The spawn stopped with a sigh as the sky began to threaten rain and picked the duckling up, speaking seriously.
"Okay, look Dayo. I'm... Sorry that I snapped at you back at school. It was because you scared me; you could have gotten lost or hurt very easily by doing that. But I won't yell again, and I won't make you stay at Uncle Cat's house again." He smiled gently, ruffling Dayo's hair. "We'll figure something else out. But for now..." He cast his gaze around before heading into the store with a half-smile.
"How about some candy?"
Dayo couldn't help but squeal when his Mama told him that he wouldn't have to stay at Uncle Cat's house, arms latching around his neck as the little one snuggled against him. "Yay!!" he said excited, kicking his pink legwarmered legs happily, brightening even more when they went through the doors to the candy shop, turning his big baby blue eyes to his Mama in joy. "Really?! We got monies fow candy?!"

As the door to the shop opened softly happy bells sounded. The two people who entered into the shop would be met with the sweet smell of candy and cupcakes. Soft music played in the background and the over all feel was much brighter than the darkening outside.
The chiming of the bells brought the sounds of bare feet padding around the corner and the bright the shining black eyes beaming with excitement. The eyes belonged to the bright smiling pale face of a young boy. He giggled and in his pale little hands he held a tray. "Mere look...look peoples." He padded over and looked up at the strange looking man and the young fluffy child in his arms, "Um...wel..welcome...free sample?" It was not that he sounded shy it was more that he stumbled on the word welcome. He held up the tray with seven little truffles on it.
