Skill vs Power

For my first post, I'll drop in one of my bigger concerns when it comes to Roleplaying. A long long time ago, eight years prior to the current, when I was only just beginning to roleplay, I was baptized by the fires of a Roleplayer, and book writer by the name of Jen in the RP section of a forum of the Battleon.com. It is in these very, Very... VERY humble beginnings that I learned about the disconnection between having a skilled fighter, and having a powerful one. In most cases, today, the gap between the two is very hard pressed to find for newer Rpers and often take the power of their characters as of their skill. In truth, power is the ultimate compensator for lack of skill. And Creativity soon becomes the only bridge that connects this gap.

This is not so much the case in older roleplayers who weren't raised in the era of flashy moves. In fact, I was taught that powers were only meant to be extensions of a character and not to be taken as end all traits.

Once upon a time, before Revan Maxwell was Revan Maxwell and I still used the names Adongalra and Shadow Bird(the latter on is lame I know), my character's ability was simple, yet highly affective. Anyone within an affective radius of 30 yards of him could no longer use their powers. Those who were in a 50 yard radius of him found that their powers were either weaker, or that they had to expend more energy to pull out the same attack. The power went on further to explain that any magic based attack that was thrown at him would dissipate within upon coming into 20 foot radius of him. Pretty cool power, forcing your opponent, by default to not be able to use their powers on you. And you would have thought I'd win a lot considering this meant that the cheapest of the crop, the "shadow killers" and the Dragon Ball ripoffs couldn't really get me without using their own strength granted to them by their physical bodies alone. Even made the very large group of character's formed of pure energy scared to even approach me, cause that would likely be death for them.

Now I say all that and put my old character on a pedestal only so that I can forcibly shoot you all down before you get a chance to call me a cheap b*****d. On a very regular basis, I got destroyed. Why? How you asked? Because the best roleplayers of the time, even the insanely powerful mage characters, had character's with something mine did not have. Skill. Pretty hard to stop a much faster and lighter blade with the massive hunk of gunblade(yup, I said it) my character wielded. And then there was the sheer amount of understanding to the simple concepts of gravity, shifting weight, and other natural aspects of our world, and used them to their advantage. I was, by all means, outclassed skill wise, which is why I hinge most of my best character's on skill.

Now since that time, I have scrapped the personal powers for a sword that does the same thing. And even with it, the sword must be at least partially drawn and it is not even the first weapon my character uses.... usually.

Note: I'm only talking about straight up fighting here. If I was going to canonical, and play my characters how they would be, most of them would not even opt to be fighting, and thus I must say to even enter them into any fight here I must change their personality if ever so slightly to place them somewhere.

I digress.

I'm not saying that powers don't help define a character. They most often times do. But if you look at your characters, how many of you could honestly say that your character would be able to fight on even terms with like, Bruce Lee or Westley Snipes and be able to hold their own sans your powers? Ask yourself the question, have you opted power so much that the more creativity goes into saying HOW you created the attack and not WHAT you did with it?

Because if you are, you might just Naruto syndrome: Power = Greatness.

You then become the one at the martial arts tournament with no real training whatsoever showing up in the front seat of a Tiger Tank.

In Roleplaying, all's fair in love and war, but don't claim to be skilled when you're really just powerful. Because skill is a show of class, prowess, and effort. If you can destroy a planet without effort, can you really call that skill?

♠Energy♠ and ◄Matter►

"Energy is Energy, whether magical, natural, or artificial," -Gargoyles.

This fact reigns true. "Life force", mana/magic, chi, chakra, light, electricity, heat, radiation, spiritual, all forms of energy. In such a manner, no form of energy is beyond any other form of energy as all have levels that can exceed and or increase. As such, to use energy, energy must either be gathered and then used, or expended straight out.

Matter is, by scientific definition all particles and atoms that have mass.

In many cases people have taken their powers and have gone to great lengths to fancy up their moves and try and manipulate both even though they have not stated that they can necessarily do both. And why is that important? We often like to think of energy and matter as being equals. That is not true.
e=mc²
e = Energy
m = Mass
c = speed of light in a vacuum

Mass and Energy are not interchangeable because by definition matter CAN be destroyed were as mass CANNOT and can only be converted into energy. How is this so? Anti-matter is the polar opposite particle to matter. When they collide, they are destroyed and release pure energy. Therefore, nothing can be reduced to nothingness, just transformed into a different state of being.

I'll get to the point. If you character has the ability to control matter, to change the matter to meet certain criteria, they would have to be able to manipulate energy as well if they were going to turn rock into lava or even more so plasma.

My reasoning? Lava is molten hot rock. To get molten, the rock would have to have a significant amount of heat attributed to it. As for plasma, plasma is the state of atoms that are closest to either becoming energy or results of energy condensing into matter.

Where as the three classical states, gases liquids solids, have to do with the physical position of individual particles, plasma deals with intricate situation of matter going through a structural change itself, a highly unstable one at that.

Now, how is it possible to have mass without matter you ask? Simple. By definition of the above expression, energy and mass cannot and never be destroyed. If that were the case, that would mean energy would constantly leak out of the universe when stuff blew up and would eventually lead to the it decaying till there was absolutely nothing left. Even in RL, our universe is expanding into the vacuum of space. Yes, if this continues then the universe will become a cold empty expanse, but the mass and energy will always be there, just so far spread that they won't be able to come together and create matter.

Now, I have to say, thanks to Yummy, who has become an instant favorite in my book, has done something I've never seen anyone perform correctly in role-playing history. He explains, while not in gratuitous detail, but still in detail, how he is able to gather the necessary changes such as using the energy released from chemical changes to educe heat.

I'm sorry for everyone else, if your power is manipulating matter, if you don't have some way of controlling the heat, then you can't expect to do something like turn rock molten.

I've lost my train of thought so I'll end here for now.

Magical Techniques vs Psionics vs Direct Manipulation vs Dominion

Today I'm going to talk about the different degrees of magic users, psionic users and users with Dominion over an element. First off let's start with the Magic Users.

Magic
Magic should not be considered it's own energy entirely, as it is often if not always linked into the users own spiritual energies. Even in the case of where manipulation of spirit energy is documented as a separate technique as to using "magic", such techniques are still considered to fall under the use of spirit magic. Therefore, Spirit manipulation should be and, for the purpose of this explanation, will be included in the terms and bound of magic.

Now to explain the different types of magics-
(Note: These types are not sub-groups or sub-types and any and all types often have properties that make them fall under the other types as well. They are more like specific aspects.)

Elemental:
As is obvious, Elemental magic refers to the use of magic to manipulate elements that are already present. So earth, fire, water, and wind and energy (which extends to lightning and light) through means of tomes, the use of applying one's own mana (magical/spiritual energy) into the element, or the manipulation of the natural mana of one's surroundings.

Conjuring and Ninjutsu:
These are exactly the same damn thing. Bring upon manipulation through the use of phrases or hand signs. If you have to say your attack, or it needs to have a special technique that requires a sign in order to complete it, it's conjuring. Because the act of saying or performing the signs means that you are drawing in the mana needed to perform the magic. There are no exceptions, even if said technique is a manipulation of force. Magic is still backing it. That said, the use of Tomes and objects also counts as conjuring. Also, the act of creating objects not present before hand, such as fire, water, light, lightning, or even concussive force is considered conjuring.

Ninjutsu is a specific type of conjuring that involves all hand signs that prepare the body and spirit for the act of controlling a very specific part of the mind and body. In a sense, it is more illusion based than physical and steps in the bounds of psionics. However, magic(chakra, chi, w/e) is still the initial energy that makes the manipulation possible.

Illusion magic is what it sounds like. By use of magical influence, you disrupt the natural perception of another individual. Unlike the related psionic, this power is magical base and falters when there is a disconnect in the users flow of magical energy, not simply when their concentration falters.

Spirit Magic is where we get into dragon ball type powers. Pure spiritual energy translates to pure physical energy. As previously stated, in my book, energy is energy, and in it's physical form, all energies are basically and fundamentally the same.

((List subject to expand. If you have a magic you would like for me to go into a little more specific details on, contact me and I'll try and fit it in if I think it falls under the category of magic. Who know, it might be something else))

Psionics
Psionics are the ability to manipulate objects with the use of ones mind. As they have been explained to me by some heavy users of the skill, psionics are mental abilities that are granted on a physical scale and have only the requirement of the understanding and connection to a specific wavelength(s) in a manner in which a user can manipulate said wavelengths of others.

I took this as being in sync with a certain domain of an element or elements. The grain has it's own wavelength, and it is scientifically proven that we can bring about change, if only on a small scale at the moment, to our surroundings by simply concentrating. Telekinesis is usually the broadest of said abilities, and is fine tuned to more specifics. That being said, psionics have a firmer grip on manipulation than magic users as magic bends material to it's will through indirect means, the mind and mana. Psionics takes mana out of the picture. However, psionics are still bound by the expanse of their minds and the physical capabilities that are granted to their object.

For example, a psionics user makes a beam of light. They can bend said beam of light, but not against the pull of a black hole.

Manipulation
Manipulation is a step above Psionics. Where Psionics takes concentration, Manipulation is more tied to a distinct connection to that being changed. For example. Tye, Caiyo's character, is a phoenix. He is, by birthright, not simply chance, mutation, or training, able to control fire and heat. You could even say fire has a kinship with him. A psionics user of fire, a pyrokentic, would not have more control over the fire as Tye could simply make the fire go out because his connection with it goes further than the pyrokenetics focus will ever.

Kaio Musashi's character, Argus, would also fall under this category as he can force light to bind to his will. His power, however, is neither magic based nor based upon being gifted with psionics.

To refer back to the light example in psionics, Argus would be, if hard pressed to, be able to pull light from entering into a black hole, though he would be hard pressed to.

Dominion
Dominon takes manipulation to a whole other level. Basically the same thing, dominion basically serves as the right of Gods. Using Ky, my own character, has Dominion over light. Any and every object made up of light can be forced to submit to his will. This includes creatures because they would fall under his dominion.

Again, continuing from light example, Ky would be able to control Argus, as he is a being made of Light, as well as be able to turn a beam of light away from a black hole with even more ease than Argus.

(It should be noted that Tye belongs in this category however was simply used as a reference in explaining the previous one)

Recape
To put the terms of control in more relative perspective:
Magic Users use a whip(figuratively mana) to manipulate elements.

Psionic users grab (used slightly figuratively as their psionic powers but at the same time true because their manipulation is a physical bond)

Manipulators basically ask the element to do what they want, In the case of those made from their element, they can try and control them, but will have to fight against the physical conscious.

And those with dominion order their element with and iron fist, taking the aspect of nature wishing to remain in it's more proper state out of the equation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Analogy provided by Dalcain

Dalcain
So these four types of altering/manipulating pretty much fall under two general categories and four "professions".

Mortal
Magic - Bandit (Enslaves the force or "persuades" it with a sacrifice of esoteric energy like "persuading" aka bribing the cops to look the other way or bust a certain enemy.)

Psionics - Knight (Impulses the force)

Deity
Manipulation - Prince or Princess (Can invoke the force)

Dominion - Overlord/King (Owns the force)

While you may find this an odd analogy, and while there are obvious exception to the rule, this is very much a very good way of thinking about the relationship between users and powers when they talking about who rightfully should have a more inherent control over a power in a power battle.

Thus I will expand on this discussions using this analogy.

There are cases where the lower ranks can make themselves appear stronger than those of the higher rank. For example, "Bandit" (magic user) could provide a large enough bribe that an "Overlord/King" will have to start actually trying to take their control back. Even when a person has more control over an element, the degree of strain exerted still ties directly to whose in control.

Types of Energy

As you may have guessed, this is a extension stub of the Energy vs Matter post, focusing on an explanation of energy.

So, as far as I see, here is the list:

Physical energy- Heat, electricity, radiation, microwaves, gamma rays and light. These energies are the classic examples and are known to be, simply by the way we define them, different types of physical energy. Tangible to the regular senses. Things that can be observed in nature through science.

Metaphysical energy- This is where we get things like Life and mana energies.
Mana/spirit energy/chi/chackra- mana is the radiant energy of the that comes from spirituality. A strong spirit produces strong and/or abundant mana. As such, magic and spiritual magic, as I'm sure I've stated before, should be synonymous. Spirit magic, however, is just spiritual energy, the radiant energy of the spirit, should be synonymous.

Life energy- while we'd like to often think that as spiritual energy, and in some cases, that is true, life energy is actually the glue to the spirit soul and body. While Mana grows with spirit and only decays at death, and sometimes not even then, life energy simply is the fuse that slowly draws to a close. In a some cases, creatures are directly tied to their spiritual energy, such a immortals. When their life energy is dispensed they expire because it is their life fuel. In a vampire, they must feed off of the life blood of others to prolong their own lives.

Soul energy- Probably the stupidest energy to use, but also the most powerful of those mentioned so far. Soul energy is energy that is "le gasp" wrought from the soul. It is one's will power solidified into raw energy. In most cases, soul energy is focused into "soul weapons" which are representative of a character. Having that weapon shattered or absorbed means that is a part of your soul lost. Some users even fire off beams and lasers. While in some cases I can let this slide, since users of Soul can will their powers to dye off, or rather return, you are still using your very soul, your own essence as a weapon. Examples of this would be Bleach's zanpakuto. In most cases, the breaking of a Zanpakuto means that the fighter's focus, their will, is gone, and it breaking usually signifies them being close to death. While this plays into spirit and life energy, I would like to note that the spirit and soul are not considered one entity in most teachings. Yes we hear body, soul, spirit, less than mind, body, soul, however, could you say that our mind is what tells the body to portray what sort of "spirit" we are in at that moment?

Dimensional energy- This is a special category for shadow/ darkness users and high order alchemists.

Shadow/Darkness: I don't care what people want to say, when you bend a shadow and use it as a manner in which is akin to a blast, you are using dark energy, and I do mean the invisible energy that apparently around 70% of space consists of. As such for a shadow to become tangible, it must be given mass and since we don't want to claim is has an elemental make up, that simply leave the use of dark energy. Point blank.

Alchemy: There are a lot of cases where characters simply turn a large rock which is likely to be granite, into a steel sword. To pull this off, you would have to turn the matter which have mass, into pure energy of equal mass, and then into a new element. That's not impossible, since matter and and anti-matter are created and destroyed constantly in stars. And before you start whining about matter being destroyed, I repeat matter and mass are not synonymous(look up mass vs relative mass). However, that still means that energy was solidified into a solid state with relative mass.

Special
Energy sword I'm putting this here because I've been bothered by a few users who have tried to argue that their swords would not be eaten my Revan's. Characters have claimed that, because a weapon appears and acts like metal it should be to solid. However, this is a load of bull. Sure you can take the elements burning in the heat and arrange them in a manner that seems fairly stable and would act in such ways against regular weapons, however, if a weapon is created from pure energy, then it is still pure energy. Point blank. Simply because you can't take a blow torch and have a Star wars lightsaber-esque fight. The flames would simply pass through each other. Some have even tried to argue about the sun not having a solid core. If they would check again, the core is often solid IRON not fire.

The Elements

Alright, this Next post is to enlighten some of you about the elements and why, in many cases, the average conception about them and how they are all, while in their own right different, all the same.

Air
In retrospect, probably the second most powerful of the classic four. Control over air gives you you the ability to basically tear anything asunder or even crush anything to bit as long as you are within a place with an atmosphere. Or does it really stop there? In space, nebula are masses of gases and particles. Wouldn't those gases count as air?

Earth
The most powerful of all the elements. Why? Because in retrospect, aside from living matter, wouldn't all things found in a natural solid state be considered earth? And going deeper than that, wouldn't that also give them control over objects such as dark matter and star cores, both of which are made of highly condensed solid material? What's worse, liquid metal and molten rock is still earth. And thus, even liquid objects can be manipulated by earth elemental.

Water
Of the classic four, Water is the weakest element because it is so restricting and plays into the powers of all other elements. Ice can be considered earth. However, even ice can be made of objects that aren't water or have water dilutes in them. Mud is considered waterlogged dirt, where as murky water is simply dirty water. Thus, even mud isn't a water based. Water vapor is often used as a means of attacking via the air, but against an air user, the vapors would be part of his element more, no?
However, for all of water short comings, it has many pluses. Like air and earth, water can be used to crush. But also, water CAN move through permeable surfaces like dirt and when pressurized has more cutting power than an air blade. More than any naturally forged blade actually. And there is a little secret to liquid water. Water can stay in water worm if the concentration remains absolute, whether in the presence of heat or cold. There is liquid water in the arctic where the waters, which are mostly fresh water, remain in liquid form. Inversely, when you boil water, the water does change into a gas, but at the same time, not all the water turns to gas form instantaneously even though the water at the top is likely beyond the boiling point. Food for thought.

Fire
There is a big controversy bout how fire users make fire out of nothing. Fire traditionally needs fuel, oxygen and heat. In Avatar, the latter are supplied, but we see a lack of the first requirement and shrug the act off as impossible and not theoretical and what not(as if the rest of the bending wasn't either). However, what makes the sun burn? Controlled fusion. At that point, the traditional requirements aren't necessary. We simply need fuel and heat. The fuel is what Iroh, in Avatar described as the Breath. In other words, the very particles in the air give root to Fire bending. But then, why does the cold negate this? Well, if you think about it, it's quiet simple. You are suppressing two of the requirements. Cold air is much denser and there for takes more heat to activate. Heavier fuel, harder to lite. It's like putting Diesel engine in an F1 racer. You might get it going eventually, but you aren't gonna get rolling real fast with that kind of fuel.

Now, if you want to talk about magical fire, then you're all basically bitching over nothing. Magical fire is feed magical energy and thus has it's support. In the same manner that a Mage could likely make water from magic in a dessert, a fire can be made from solely magic as well. Don't get magic fire and fire bending confused, because they work on two separate principles altogether.

----------------

Taking on to this post, I would like to state that the elements should be considered manipulation of matter, as that's basically what it is.

While, some people like to group light and darkness in as an element, we must remember that they are not naturally elements, but instead degrees of energy. Even with fire, you have the application of fuel as well as different naturally occurring forms of fire.

Abnormal and Other Elements

Quote:
Black Fire and Dark Fire
(as Presented by Caiyo)
There is a distinct difference between the element of dark fire and the element of black fire. Dark fire, while in itself being purely fictional like Black Fire, is in the spectrum of what would be considered "normal fire" like white, red and blue fire. Dark Fire is just a simple hotter burning fire, being similar to that of white fire, but harder to control, which is why it is in another category.

Black Fire on the other hand is completely different as it doesn't even necessarily run on the same principals of "normal" fire. Black Fire consumes energy and that's it. It doesn't need oxygen or heat to "burn". Black Fire is started by the users energy and fueled by outside energies, all of them. You may think, but there's energy everywhere, how will it go out? To Black Fire, most pre-existing ambient energies would be like negative calories, the fire would burn straight through them and die out. Now, Black Fire can be maintained as long as the user wills it, using their own energy as an ignition, meaning it drains the user as well, more severely the further away from it the user is. That being said, black Fire consumes and spreads quickly, so if someone were to shoot a massive beam of energy and the person were to use an ember of Black Fire on that beam, the Black Fire would react by expanding and consuming the beam until it reached the source and NO LONGER require the energy of the user as it would be feeding off of the energy of the beam and consequently, the person who fired it.

Once the fire is attached to a person, it begins to feed off of all energy that person produces. This means that once it reaches a person, their energy based attacks will only fuel the fire. Since energy must be focused before it is released, the fire will travel toward that area of the body and almost effectively null any energy based attacks, the more energy a person has, the faster it spreads and consumes. This effect goes right down to bodily functions such as the heart pumping. Once the fire has started the is no way to put it out except to knock the user out and it won't jump off from person through physical contact like a normal fire.

The catch being that if a person has good enough control over their energy, they can slow the spread of the fire. Also, if they are able to focus enough, they could expel the fire from their body by getting it to feed on a certain area while basically lowering the energy in the rest of the body to be so low that the fire would have no interest, then force it out. This however will not restore any energy lost by the fire. Once Black Fire has consumed energy, it is gone (from the user as energy can't be destroyed, it is just fed to the fire) and the victim won't suddenly be restored to full strength upon the fire's removal. Again, as stated, the more energy you have naturally, the more the fire will spread and consume at a faster rate, meaning even if you do have enough control to get it from your body, it is going to consume a healthy amount of energy whether you expel it quickly or not.

Alchemy
Contributed by YummyBuscuits

YummyBiscuits
Alchemy is considered to be the change of one type of matter, into another type of matter. There are various ways to perform this, coupled with various rules to performing said various ways.

All alchemy must follow a few basic rules :

The Law of Conservation of Mass and Energy which states that energy and matter can neither be created from nothing nor destroyed to the point of elemental nonexistence. In other words, to create an object weighing one kilogram, at least one kilogram of material is necessary and destroying an object weighing one kilogram would reduce it to a set of parts, the sum of which would weigh one kilogram exactly. This is important to Alchemy for the reason that if you have parts to become another object, you must have equal mass. The density has the ability to change on whim, whilst mass does not.

The Law of Relative Mass states that each indivdual atom, ion, or isotope within matter has weight, no matter the size of said atom, ion, or isotope. However, In reality, science states that each atom, ion, or isotope have what is called an average weight. Each atom, ion, or isotope has a slightly different weight. While mentioning this seems unimportant, It is important. The reasoning behind this is held behind density [ which if you don't know, is Denisty = Mass divided by Volume ].

Definition - The metaphysical ability to Alter or Manipulate Matter, and the different aspects of Matter using either Natural, Supernatural, or studied ability to do so. To do so requires either an input of energy, created in a flow manner, or a use of mental ability to make the structure of matter change. The ability to use alchemy in battle requires the knowledge of chemicals, the atomic structure of chemicals, and the knowledge of the flow or mental ability required to use Alchemy.

Direct Manipulation Of Matter

Direct Manipulation functions on manipulating the atomic structure of any element within a specified space. This space is decided by the power of the Alchemist. This space is the area that Alchemic power is used within, and is completely controled by the Alchemist.

Within that space, the atomic structure of matter within that space is manipulated into other matter, completely equal to the other matter in existence before. This matter will be equal in weight, and relative mass. Density however, has the ability to be changed on simple whim within the confine of the space. Once the individual elements of an item are made, They atoms of the different elements can be manipulated into compunds, and from those compunds, into semblence of man-made items, or completely different items based on simple whim. So, after consideration, The space available for transforming use is one of the major drawbacks within Direct Manipulation styles is the space available.

A technique used by Asu, My own alchemist, is to use the atmosphere in conjunction with existing things, so as to increase the denisty in his available space, and then have the object, as it is being created, to expand from the space. This is similar to weaving a sweater; the sweater is created, and as it is made, is moved further away from the knitting needles so as to allow more of the sweater to be created. This technique would be the most well known in use by Direct Manipulator alchemists.

Prepared Alchemy A.K.A. Mainstream Alchemy

This is the type of Alchemy created and used by the show ' FullMetal Alchemist ' . The show, while not giving much information, gives clues that i use to infer from.

The items to be transformed must be analyzed pre-battle, and have the elements and compunds needed for the precise creation set out, and ready to use. While exact measurements are not required, the exactness would be preffered by higher ranked transfigurations.

The proccess of the transfiguration is made through a combination of a track of some sort, and a flow of energy through that circle. Most of these alchemists will use their own body as the track, as the energy can be passed through the body, and then used to transfigure the objects in question to be transfigured. The track can be anything from a drawn circle, some sort of conduit that is conected in a circular to semi-circular fashion, or just any conected figure that has the ability to pass the energy in a flow. The actual flow of the energy is what causes the transfiguration to be made, as the energy, whilst passing around or towards the objects to be transfigured, moves the atomic structure around within the object, therefore making it into a new object entirely.

The main drawback of this sort of alchemist would have to be the ability to transfigure. The ability to change the density, relative mass, and other certain aspects of objects that other alchemists think as second nature. Another drawback would include something other alchemists would also find second nature. If an alchemist is, for instance, turning a steel pipe into a gun, this form of alchemist will not be able to create non-steel parts.

Biological Alchemy

Biological alchemy can fit into other realms, but only the masters of their own fields have the abilty to use Biological alchemy to it's full extent. The difficulty is presented because, unlike non-living objects, the living tissue must be alligned in such a near-perfect manner so the object can continue to work properly. It must be near perfect for the reason that, if there is even one, or two, depending on the error, error, the entire object can become useless, or weaker than intended, which would make the entire proccess of the transfiguration a complete waste of time and energy. For that reason, Only the masters choose to do Biological Alchemy.

Biological alchemy uses the same techniques as listed above, but differentiated in the fact that the living tissue must be moved instead of non-living. Each and every detail of the transfiguration must be made in such a fashion that if small errors are made, the entire new structure can fail, and then cause what is known as a backlash. A backlash entails the energy being used in the transfiguration, flipping around, and turning the tissue used in the Transfiguration to be turned inside out, whilst also throwing the energy back in a concussive wave. For that reason, Only masters of the art of Alchemy can have the courage to do Biological Alchemy.

There are some forms of Biological Alchemy that allow the user to morph their living tissue with non-living tissue. This technique is useful in combat, but also poses the threat of extreme backlashes. For this to operate correctly, the non-living object must be morphed into a semi-living tissue, while the living tissue is made into a binding tissue, that connects the living and non-living objects together. This ability is only able to be used by Direct Manipulators, for other types are unable to morph other types of matter into one type of matter.
