I heard from my best friend that if you have PKM Black you can't battle or trade with White. Is this true? And why?

False. Black and White can't battle with Heart Gold or Soul Silver, or Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. But they can battle and trade with each other.

You are both right. You will be able to battle and trade between black and while once the Global Link is up and opperational. however, due to the earthquake, it has been pushed back

People are still able to trade and battle via the Nintendo WFC. The only things the Global Link affect are the Entralink and the Dream World. Everything else is working just fine.
