While you're just sitting around outside, a fan blowing on you should keep most mosquitoes away: mosquitoes don't like fast-moving air.
I also read today that half-strength vodka wards away mosquitoes when rubbed/sprayed on your skin whee Vodka has less of a smell than vinegar or most other insect repellents. Haven't tried this one yet, because vodka doesn't stay in this house for long, lol.
