What a cycle. Every year, cause a little chaos, make a few babies (note: not his), then right back into the boring doldrums again. There had to be something else to occupy a deity's time between the chaotic baby-making.
Alone today, apart from any of his siblings, his mother, or even his sister-in-law, Himeros was in an odd, thoughtful mood. Really, what was there to do here? Oh, this Isle had its moments, but...there had to be more. He'd started setting out on his own, looking to see what might happen if he separated himself from his family. Maybe that was the problem. Too many deities in one place...scared all the interesting-ness of the mortals away.
He chuckled a bit at the thought, then readjusted his bow and quiver over his shoulder. Meh...had to be something to do. Something, anything interesting!
AnyONE interesting...
Ugh, boredom sucks.
...loneliness sucks more.

Her staff had been thrust into the wet earth that bordered the lake...or was it a pond? It was a small body of water, whatever it was. Feet in the water, her icey blue eyes wandered.
This was boring.
Sure, she had led herself to these dulldrums, she knew this for a fact, but that did not change the fact that she was bored of the boredom and wanted something...different.
Something alive, something exciting, something to...challenge her? Yes, a challenge would be lovely. Something to occupy both her body and mind. Something that would take her mind off of how boring her life had become, or better yet, stave off the boredom permanently. She doubted the latter would ever happen.
The sigh that came from deep within her lungs was one drowning in disappointment. Was this to be her life forever?

His steps were light on the earthy ground, untroubled by leaves or debris; the deity made little sound as he passed through the forest with natural grace. His bow rested comfortably over his shoulder and his quiver bumped lightly, but rhythmically, against his back beneath his wings, like the soothing beat to a melody only he could hear. He smiled a bit, but the expression didn't quite reach his eyes.
Even the calm of the forest couldn't soothe the deity's strange pent-up restless energy.
So, he turned instead towards the lake, hoping that maybe a change of scenery would do the trick. And oh what scenery...
The first thing he saw were the cascading locks of silvery-white hair, draped over the bare back of a lovely curvaceous form. Thin, fragile wings fluttered, casting the light from their surfaces like glass, or the waters of the nearby lake. Though strange symbols adorned her skin, unfamiliar to this particular deity, he recognized her to be one of the mortal types called a 'fae'. Such lovely creatures. So full of life, magic, and beauty.
A true smile crept over Himeros' face this time, familiar feelings returning like a comforting warm glow, spreading from the inside out. Such a lovely lady. Shame for her to be all alone like this. Surely she'd welcome some company, and what better company for a beautiful lady than the God of Lust himself?
Still, even Himeros had to admit that admiring a woman from afar like this, at least for too long, had a tendency to seem a bit too much like...a creepy stalker. That was his brother's department, he thought with a mental chuckle. He, on the other hand, acquired his target, then set out with determination to get what he wanted. Lust, desire, seduction...these were the things he understood. Intimately.
And so the deity strode confidently from the forest for the beach, still unnaturally silent upon the ground, appearing as if his intended target was the shoreline, and not the lovely young woman with the staff in the earth. He gazed out over the water, pausing to stretch his wings out and up, well over his head, then folding them against his back once more. Behaving as if he'd just noticed the woman nearby (though he'd made perfectly sure that he was well within her sight range moments before), he blinked, then smiled warmly at her.
"Well, I'd come to the lake because I'd heard it had a pleasant view. I see that was correct," he quipped, flashing her a playful smirk.

Zimbali blinked a few times as the brightly colored...person...came into her field of vision. He definitely wasn't a normal Pae. He could have been mistaken as an angelic if it weren't for the fact that he was missing the token halo that they all had. That and there was that bow. While she had not come face to face with them, she had heard of them begrudgingly through the grape vine. Gods they were, or so they claimed.
The Arrow Gods is what she had dubbed them with what she had heard of them. Known best for creating illegitimate children. Fun...
Still, she couldn't help but flash a playful smile back at the orange hued fellow. He was colored like fire, especially his hair, and he wasn't bad looking, that was for sure.
"Dat's all a mattah of opinion I do suppose, but yes, I always find dis place a nice retreat from deh dulldrums dat seem to be followin' me 'round lately. Sometin' interestin' always seems to show up 'round here," she mused before standing herself up and brushing off bits of dirt that had accumulated due to sitting on the ground.
"I'm Zimbali, by dah way," she said, but paused, wondering if Arrow Gods found it offensive to offer a hand out to shake, or if they preferred to be bowed at. Last thing she needed was a deity angry with her.

Himeros had his own ideas about proper introductions, especially with pretty ladies, and he swept forwards with a graceful bow of his own. Taking her hand in his, he lifted it to his lips and planted a gentle kiss upon the back of it, then turned his head to smile up at her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, my dear Zimbali. A true pleasure..." His cobalt blue eyes were extra striking against his warm-hued complexion, and if the Fae dared look deep within, they promised adventure, excitement, and something a little more primal...
Straightening once more to his full height, the nodded once and continued, "The name's Himeros. Maybe you've heard of me? Or maybe you know me by my title: the God of Lust." He grinned, a touch of lecherous implication in his smile. Her hand still in his, he stroked her skin lightly with his thumb.
Okay, perhaps not the best pickup line in the world, no...but one would be surprised how often it worked nonetheless. Still, in case this was one of the rare cases it did not, Himeros kept pouring on the charm.
"I've seen many beautiful and wondrous things in my travels, but never any as lovely as you, my dear. I take it from your accent that you too are not from here? Could you tell me where you're from, or perhaps I'm mistaken. I merely believed your beauty to have a taste of the exotic...a hint of mysterious lands beyond our own current residence..." As he spoke, he kept his eyes on her, enjoying her beauty, her exotic nature, both as a Fae, something he was still not altogether familiar with, and as a lovely lady with odd tattoos and a charming accent.
"Come, come," he offered as an invitation. "Let us take a seat and chat, get to know one another. Perhaps in doing so, we'll keep those darned dulldrums away. They don't like to follow Pae'il in groups, so as long as we're not alone, we should be safe," he winked, gesturing towards a fallen log where they could sit.

Zimbali chuckled amusedly. So she was right, he was one of the Arrow Gods.
"Dat so?" she quired with a grin. "Well I don't know what a god be doin' here in dese borin' parts, but it would be rude to not accept his company," she said as she moved herself to the fallen log to sit.
"Yes, while dah dulldrums do dislike groups, it all depends on dah Pae in deh group I suppose. I know some Pae who just love nuttin more den a long borin' day, and I'm sure dat no matter who is wit dem, dah dulldrums will always be 'round," she mused halfheartedly.
"So what really be bringin a god out here in deh middle o nowhere anyhow, if ya don't mind me asking Hotshot,"
Hotshot. She just sort of came up with it, but it fit him. If he didn't threaten her death on calling him that, she might have to keep using it.
