I think Astronomy in general is what made people understand the Earth was round, because of how the Earth rotates around the Sun and everything. I'm sure Eclipses had something to do with it all though. Of course Eclipses have symbolized many things through many different cultures and religions, good luck, bad luck, every kind of luck. They're really awesome. whee
