I think it's pretty clear that we all know what's happened to the island nation of Japan. The devastation is heart wrenching to hear and watch.
And just like we would help out any other country in need after such a horrible disaster, I hope that my fellow Gaians and friends are doing what they can to help. Whether it's making a cash, clothing or food donation or simply sending thoughts or prayers to the people please try to do something. If you need help or want to show people how they can help, post replies or links to this topic.
I've donated money to UNICEF in the past and so today is no different and I donated to Gaia.

I have open commissions going on right now and anything I make I'm donating to Japan. I don't have a job, but if I did, I'd be donating like crazy. I'm also going to be donating a lot of my clothes (I have too many). And this week my club got assigned Japan for our country to represent at the festival. I'm making sure this upcoming meeting to address the importance of having part of our booth to have either a small memorial shrine and some fund jar of some sort... D; I feel so bad.
I slept like two hours last night cuz I was texting like crazy and watching the news. It breaks my heart because they are our sister country... and some of those people didn't have time to move out of the way of that tsunami. Also, that could easily happen on the fault line California is living on top of. 8.9... It's like a nightmare, but... it really happened. sad So I'm going to keep open my commissions for as long as the donation sites are open. Anything helps.

I've donated what I can, but I'm doing most of my support for those I know in real life while sending prayers & lighting candles. One of my best friends has family living just 9 miles away from the epicenter of the disaster; she knows nothing about how they are doing or if they are even alive. I'm consoling her and making sure that she doesn't hurt herself from stress, anxiety, etc.
When I go in to work tomorrow, my main project is putting together a huge display about tsunamis, earthquakes, and Japan. I'm also supposed to put out information on how my local area is prepared to deal with those natural disasters. (We're currently on tsunami warning, though it's mostly a precaution. My area is just a *bit* too inland for there to be too much worry, but being prepared is always good.)

Yeah I saw that it got bumped up yesterday. My friends and I are thinking of making a care package and sending it overseas.

This one girl has this cute idea of making paper cranes/flowers and writing messages on them and then mailing 1000 of them to an office in Japan. I might do it. She posted instructions on her journal here: Here :3

I remember leaving for work and hearing about a quake in Japan and thinking "So what, Japan gets earthquakes all the time." And all the CNN newscasters could talk about was how a possible 6 foot high tsunami might hit the western coast of the states and I thought "If all they can talk about is a puny 6 foot wave hitting the states, the devastation can't be that bad."
But when I got home from work and watched all the footage from Japan and I was like "Holy shiiit..." I donated a bit of money, would've been more if I had a real job. It's incredible how much has been ruined by this, but still I'm not really as worried about Japan recovering as I was about Haiti. Japan has the benefit of being a wealthy, politically stable country, recovering's going to be tough but they'll get through this. You have to stay positive.
