I agree, but I still think that even the 10,000 would have helped.
That would have bought so many bottles of water, or food. It wouldn't have done much to help with the actual damage, but it would have been able to profide for basic necessities for those that where displaced.

Yrah, I had assumed that, that's what had happened, it's not like they had more than a few hours to come up with the plan, so there was bound to be a huge fudge up. I'm not sticking up for them, because it was still wrong, I'm just saying that they probably didn't have time to think everything through, cuz they were just like "LETS DO SOMETHING!"... "OK, GOOD IDEA, GO!"
AT LEAST the realized the error, and tried to rectify it!

I mean 10k is still GREAT and all, but there was still a profit which I find morally repulsive, idkidk.
I'm REALLY happy they changed it to 100%, but they should have done it in the first place really. Either way YAY SOLUTIONS!

It wasn't the amount I was angry at, it was, like Mea said, the shere fact that after the 10k, they would have been profiting from the item. I'm slowly, slowly calming down about the whole thing now.

If they're SMART they won't tell people EXACTLY how much money was raised without first making it clear whether or not they intended on keeping all the money if it had been an obscene amount over $10K 2. You cay "calculate" like it would take more work than subtracting 1, like you'd have to whip out a calculator, an abacus and take your shoes off in case you had to count to 20, like you'd have to power up the super computer at NASA to estimate the closest approximation in concurrence with the monetary value of science... XD... SORRY! after the first one I got on a roll, and then added that last one because I had to ruin it. But no seriously, it made me giggle! AND YES I KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT TO SAY! And I got it right away, I just thought that it was funny. I'M SORRY! I APOLOGIZED TWICE!

I mean they always post an announcement with like a picture of the staff with a giant check being like LOOK AT HOW MUCH MONEY WE RAISED YAY! I'd be surprised if they didn't say how much they raised, TBH.
Also Buzz, it would take more than just subtracting because they were donating 10,000k and then after that 10% of everything made. Either way, you're silly.

I agree with that too. I was sort of town between two viewpoints until they changed it. But now I feel fine about it, and even went out to buy some gcash to help. XD

It's just buisness sense. I'm sure all the little companies that are invested in Gaia push them to turn bigger profits, because they make money. So, why do something that your buisness and all their stockholders would lose money for.
Granted I'm sure the idea of an actual physical cost to a digital item is kind of absurd, but they're it is. I'm sure it only cost them a few pennys to have somebody do out a quick sketch, poses, etc, but that's the point of it, right? I mean, it's all about the numbers, right?
Best wear something with a collar, them moneyhounds be breathing on your neck.

It's a mistake to think that they're only about the bottom line (and this is coming from an economist). Now, you can claim that this is because of the PR value of charity, and because a stable world is a profitable world (those are paying customers over in Japan!), but that would be a matter of opinion and not evidence. Corporations are made of people, and people have compassion. That Gaia originally had a poor execution and appears to have backed off to keep their members from rioting doesn't mean that they had greedy motives. By the same token, it doesn't mean they didn't, either.

Statistically Corporations make a lot more too. I would love to think were all about helping fellow man, but there is always social pressure on those who do donate to charity to donate to charity, because if you didn't, why would I support you?
