Have you ever gone urban exploring? It's pretty freaking amazing. You get to poke around places that are old and falling apart, and you can see a glimpse of what used to be. I'm going to put some pictures up of things I've explored and a little bit of explanations about them in here.

If anyone wants to get into Urbex, let me know! I need more people that like it and want to go on adventures!!!

Urban Exploration Destination: The Ladd School in Exeter
Date Explored: 3/10/2011

We went through the woods for about 45 minutes trying to sneak into this place... when we emerged, there were far too many people around to get in. :[. So, we took a few pictures from surroundings and such, may as well post what we got. Planning on going back there and getting in next time. razz

Urban Exploration Destination: The Enchanted Forest in Hope Valley
Date Explored: 3/10/2011

This place is not guarded at all, you just get to walk right in. There wasn't much left of what used to be a great place to go when I was a wee little one. razz My phone started dying before I got to take pictures of the last couple of buildings, so I'm planning another trip down there asap.

Urban Exploration Destination: There were originally 6, actually, but due to a sad series of events, they did not all happen. It was still an epically great day though, so it's quite ok! The following are where we went, and what happened there!

1: Lafayette Nursing Home, North Kingstown: On a far too busy street with neighbors really close to it.
2: Random Wickford house (the first post in here) visit 2: Demolished! sad
3: Fort Nathaniel Greene near Scarborough: Lack of flashlights. Boo! We'll go another time!
4: Fort Wetherill, Jamestown: My family has lived there for years but I had never gone... I sure was missing out! This place is huge and AMAZING! We only got about 1/2 done with it, definitely going back soon if anyone is interested!
5: Fort Adams, Newport: It actually gives tours, so it's locked off, and it was off-season.
6: Brenton Point Stables, Newport: After a long time driving down Ocean Avenue and gawking at the mansions, we finally found this. Totally closed off by fences, but gorgeous nonetheless!

ah, I always wish I could do things like that :c.
Just yesterday my friend was telling me about her and her boyfriend and two other guys went somewhere in Connecticut. Norwich? I dunno. But they went to an Asylum or something and I was getting really scared just hearing about it.
There was apparently like a room full of teacups and stuff, and a huge gorgeous carriage, like a horse carriage in a basement
and when they got to where they were going (A theatre) They got to the basement and there were a bunch of seemingly bottomless holes in the ground, and all the tunnels leading to that basement were broken and there was a really long tunnel that wasn't caved in that apparently led to the room where they'd kill the patients. They said it was getting demolished soon, I really wished I coulda gone D:

surprised Sounds like a road trip I'd want to take!

Urbex is really fun, if you know people that do it often, tag along at some point! I'm afraid of everything (including stairs without railings... the dark... i'm a wimp!) and the fort was a... challenge yesterday, but it was also so very fun and worth it.

There's an old farm house down the street from my school that my friend went inside, he said there's just stacks and stacks of old books in there and then dozens of wallet sized photos of one person, and he took like 5 of the photos and he usually has one in his back pocket. I'm tempted to venture into that house but I don't want to go alone and none of my friends will go.

I don't have any for Woonsocket, but there's this place here in Alaska called Whitier. It's a small port town that has one hotel/bar/restaurant combo and all the workers there live in a large hotel looking building. The only way to get there other than by boat, is a three mile one lane rail line that goes right through a mountain, The road is opened for only 15 minutes every hour to allow oncoming traffic to come through. up on a hill is this old abandoned Military Facility that I have no idea what they could've possibly been using for. This place place including the town screamed murder the tourists.
