Mrs. Puppett looked at Parasite and then at the bag of rings and trinkets she had offered to her to look at. They were indeed nice things, although most didn't really tickle her fancy. The red clad woman gave the twins a somewhat crooked smile and leaned back in the bleachers, sighing contently.

"Yes, I suppose those are nice rings." she replied calmly as she turned her head and watched Parasite pick off the dried blood on some of her little treasures with interest. Perhaps there were some interesting beings in this pathetic little circus after all. At least she'd get some fun out of the other members.

Looking at the stained rings Parasite offered to her as a token of friendship, she smiled slightly and picked one out from her palms. It was a simple band of gold with a couple delicate engravings on it, some of which filled with the dried blood of the former owner. "Why thank you, Parasite and Tapeworm," she tossed the ring into the air and caught it before putting it in her pocket and leaning forward to the twins, "I would love to be your friend."

"Yay!" Parasite cheered in joy. She was so happy! Mrs. Puppett was now her friend and now she wouldn't have to worry about being lonely whenever Tapeworm randomly disappeared for a few minutes. She didn't like being alone for those minutes. But now she wouldn't be lonely, so she could be happy! And Parasite liked being happy very much.

Parasite swept all of her treasures onto the floor so she could sit down next to her new friend. She was going to cling to Mrs. Puppett's arm but Tapeworm was quick to block Parasite's hands and silently urged her to cling to him instead. Parasite grudgingly did so, pouting at her brother for a few moments before turning her attention down to the stage and all the commotion the rest of the circus was making. She watched them for several moments before scoffing in boredom. They weren't entertaining at all, running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Parasite didn't like being bored.

She nudged Tapeworm as she leaned her head on his shoulder. "Parasite is bored. Entertain her, Tapeworm!" Parasite demanded.

Tapeworm sighed. "Open Tapeworm's backpack." Parasite squealed at the possibility of decent entertainment. She easily snatched Tapeworm's backpack away from his feet, happily rummaging through it. Parasite couldn't help but grin when her hand grasped a gallon milk jug filled halfway with gasoline. After pulling it out and setting it down on her lap, she happily held out her hand. With a halfhearted sigh, Tapeworm easily dropped a matchbook into his sister's hands.

"Parasite loves her brother." Parasite cooed before she raced off with her matches and gasoline. Tapeworm rolled his eyes at Parasite's childish behavior. At least she was entertained.

Only minutes later, mad cackling was heard as the faint smell of smoke slowly increased inside the tent.

"Mrs. Puppett should come with Tapeworm." Tapeworm easily stated as he stood up from the bench. "Parasite feels like burning down the tent. It isn't safe here." He quickly scooped up most of Parasite's treasures from the floor before easily moving towards the exit without a fear in the world. It would take some time before the entire tent was burnt to the ground.

And neither twin could wait to see the flames reaching high to the sky. They knew the chaos and the flames were going to beautiful.

Meldellevo's soul couldn't sense anything. All around him was only darkness. It enveloped everything and held onto him. He thought his eyes felt like they were open, but he couldn't see. There was nothing, and he tried to shake his head to clear it, to no avail. An overwhelming feeling of fatigue was spreading: not just over him, but over the entirety of the expanse in which he found himself. He found himself succumbing to it, his head lolling backwards into nothing, his limbs relaxing, all thoughts cleared from his mind.

His body, on the other hand, was doing stretches, twisting the spine and rotating the joints to judge their versatility. He looked down at his hands, smiling. Well, then. Let's see how much I can get done before Mel realizes what's going on.

The body looked around, cracking its neck, bringing up old memories. It smiled. They were all there, all right. Images of Santo Paolo, traces of music heard as a baby, the taste of the cooking of Mel's mother. Memories were nothing more than a specific make-up of neurons, and having taken over this body, the memories came with it. The soul of the being, however ...

The body closed his eyes, concentrating, reaching across metaphysical realms to search for the evicted soul. There it was, floating in an expanse of darkness, of nothingness, oblivious to its body. Satisfied, Luciano's soul - or his equivalent, at any rate - pulled itself back to Meldellevo's body. In a rush of blue sparks, it cemented itself temporarily to the brain there. Opening his eyes, Luciano turned to make his way to climb down to the floor.

Suddenly, he stopped, the smell of gasoline and smoke reaching his nose. He whipped back around, hands on the railing, scanning the tent feverishly. He didn't tire Mel out and take over the human's body just to burn to death, dammit.

Cursing inwardly as he saw the smoke coiling up from the other side of the tent, Luciano leaped up onto the railing and brought his hands up to his sides, magic sparking from one palm to another, forming a bubble of air around him. Scowling, he jumped off the rail, the crackling magic leaping around him in a protective shield of dense air and pure energy.

His ears popped from the rapid altitude change, and the air pocket slammed against the ground, dissipating and depositing him on the safety net. "Get out of here! The tent's burning up!" he shouted as he rolled off the net, hitting the floor running. He almost started at the strange combination of Meldellevo's voice and his own that erupted from his vocal chords, but decided that adjusting to it could wait.

Mrs. Puppett smiled as flames began to fill the tent and smoke spiraled up into the air. She looked at Tapeworm and waved her hand calmly. "I'll be out in a moment." she simply replied and continued to watch as the huge tent slowly catch on fire. The tent began to wave in an ominous way as the smoke and fire bent it to its will.

Mrs. Puppett watched with fascination. It had so many beautiful shades of red and yellow. The Tarot Reader leaned back a little before closing her eyes and sighing softly, standing up and gracefully making her way down the stands like nothing had happened. Fire never bothered her. She was quite captivated by it, actually.

Once she reached the bottom to the exit, Mrs. Puppett took the ring out of her pocket and looked at it against the fire. It looked wonderful in this light. Pocketing it once more, the brunette took one more fleeting glance towards the stage before exiting the tent in a calm manner. She walked over to Parasite and Tapeworm. "A wonderful performance, Parasite."

Wonderful. Wonderful, indeed.

Seeing Iris not showing any signs of pain in her stretching exercise, Aure felt both relieved and irritated at the same time. It’s great that Meldellevo had decreased the impact of tightrope walker’s fall, but her blowing off the event that could’ve been serious if Meldellevo and the net weren’t there (as if it never happened) just tells Aure that Iris’ not being serious enough about her career. Aure’s envy/jealousy starts to burn at the thought of Iris and Icarus sharing something so important in common.

Glancing at the ringmaster, the little puppeteer wasn’t too sure what to make of Icarus’ feelings toward the older female. Is there more to the feelings of Iris reminding him of his younger self? Is she someone who Icarus sees as his very own child? Aure wants to know, and not want to know at the same time. She fears that what she’ll learn from Icarus will hurt her. She also fears that Iris may end up the same way as Icarus, thus making the two that much closer, leaving Aure alone with her doll, who she’s 100% positive of knowing everything she needs to know about the person/doll/puppet.

Aure turned away from the safety net and headed back toward the waiting area where she was sitting at earlier. Upon arrival, Aure crouched down and heaved Steed’s lifeless body onto his back, which reveals an expressionless dollish face. Deep in thought, the puppeteer poked at one of his eyes deep, figuring that it’s best for her to keep on trusting her ringmaster. Sighing at the thought of letting time to run its own course, Aure looked up toward the ceiling to seek comfort from the fake stars, just in time to notice the mischief twins leaving the tent. She doesn’t really care about the two much, so she let her mind wander on how Steed came to be, since he’s someone she will have to rely on for majority of her future.

The Illusionist’s voice echoed through the tent, pulling Aure’s mind back to her surroundings. Aure made a wide scan around the area (to confirm what Meldellevo said was true) and spotted the fire that originates from where Mrs. Puppett was sitting at earlier. The tarot card reader is now heading toward the opening where the twins had exited from before, and with a determined face, Aure sends half of her mind’s focus/power into Steed’s body and start running toward the net to follow Icarus’ orders (and provide any assistance he may need). Steed blinked a few times, moved his limbs to make sure that Aure’s mind is properly connected, and with the same determined look as his controller, Steed quickly stood up and start chasing after Mrs. Puppett who he believes had started the fire.

It seemed as if Iris had recovered quite quickly from her fall, feathers totally unruffled. Her bubble demeanor was proof enough of that. Smiling in relief, Icarus raised a hand up and waved it in a signal to keep going, instructing, "Next act, prepare please." Returning his attention to the young tightrope walker, his eyes narrowed, and expression calmed as he recalled her performance. Every single time, after every performance or practice, Iris would come to him and ask for feedback. It was surprising that she didn't question how he knew so much about the high wire, but at least the girl was eager to improve. Even so, he would not relent in his criticism.

"You were careless. The cartwheel, that's where you messed up, wasn't it? Timing is one of the most important things to remember, you can't be too fast or too slow, you know that. You were quite visibly unsteady as you landed from the cartwheel, and from then on, your tricks got sloppier and sloppier. The attempt at improvisation is admirable, but," Crossing his arms over his chest, Icarus took on an appearance not unlike that of a strict teacher, and frowned. "You should not have made that mistake in the first place. The cartwheel is a fairly basic trick, and there should be no excuses for your error. Improvising when unsteady is a good idea, but you should stay with safe, familiar tricks that you know until you get back in course with the routine. What you should not do, is pull a stunt like that backflip, that you've barely even gotten the chance to practice. Do not experiment when unsteady, or else we'll just have a repeat incident of what happened just now, understood?" He realised that he may have been a bit harsh in his teachings, but he also knew that it couldn't hurt her, and would be beneficial in the long run. A more selfish reason for this, was that he didn't know how many more shocks like that his heart could take.

The ringmaster had been about to say more, but then his nose caught whiff of a strange scent. Was there something... Burning? Concerned, he wondered if anyone had left something in the kitchen oven too lo- This trail of thought was interrupted by Meldevello's voice, shouting that the tent was on fire. The illusionist's voice seemed a bit different than usual, but probably because of panic. Whipping his head around to scan the tent, the brunette's eyes widened in horror when he saw that, yes, in fact, there were flames licking at the sides of the tent. Picking up his crutches from the ground, Icarus stood from his seat on the pedestal and began giving directions for the evacuation. "Everyone, out of the nearest exit and reassemble outside the canteen! Do not panic! Aemillio, call the fire department!" Making towards one of the tents' exits, Icarus decided that he would figure out who was responsible for this later, but for now, the most important thing was to get everyone out safe. How much would a new tent cost? Mr. Tristis would not be pleased about this.

Taking a quick visual headcount, he saw that Iris, Aemillio, Meldevello and Aure were still here. Steed was nowhere to be found, but since his mistress wasn't in distress, it was safe to say that he would be alright as well. As of now, the only ones absent were Mrs. Puppett and the twins, Parasite and Tapeworm. Taking a deep breath, Icarus decided to deal with them later.

Parasite couldn't help but grin at Mrs. Puppett's praise. "She thanks you!" Parasite breathed deep, enjoying the smell of smoke invading the air. Beside her, Parasite could hear Tapeworm doing the same exact thing. Actually, they liked the smell of fear more than anything. It just happened to be easier to smell it whenever some other disaster was around. So far, fire was by far the best. And the prettiest.

"Where is the evidence?" Tapeworm asked after basking in the glow for several moments.

"Parasite burnt it. She wants Tapeworm to get more gasoline later." Parasite liked pretty things. Shiny things and bright things were, by far, the prettiest. But there was something about watching things crumble in on itself that when beyond pretty and right into beautiful. Which was probably she and her brother were constantly being thrown out of circuses.

"Later." Tapeworm agreed as he watched people rush around inside the tent. It was amusing. "Tapeworm thinks that everyone will blame Mrs. Puppett." he snickered at the thought, Parasite joining in only seconds later. As far as they could tell, people only thought the twins were innocent and mischievous. It wasn't their fault everyone blamed their new friend. But they weren't about to go out of their way to correct that view. They enjoyed watching everyone's flailing just a tad too much.

Oh well. What were they to do? Besides laughing and enjoying the confused frustration, of course.

Mrs. Puppett continued to look at the brilliant display of flames before turning and walking off. She knew people would blame her for the fire, so she didn't really want to be around to listen to the lovely earful Icarus was inevitably going to give her along with the a**-kissing the rest of the crew would give to him. The Tarot Card Master adjusted the ring on her hand, next to her wedding ring and looked at the smoke filled air.

She closed her eyes and inhaled softly before opening them. Soon I'll have enough. Then I'll be gone for good. she smiled softly at the thought of returning to her husband. It didn't matter how much s**t she got for who she was. It was fine with her. The circus members were all pathetic little brats in her eyes. So stupid, to think that she'd actually burn down the tent. No, anyone with a slight amount of brains would see that if Mrs. Puppett was going to take the circus down, she'd create something that would no doubt destroy them all. Fires were simply not her style of destruction.

Of course, they could blame her all they wanted. She'd simply respond with a smile and a wave of the hand just to infuriate them.

Luciano didn't care for anyone else's safety at the moment. He yelled, as Meldellevo would have, and left his duties at that, sprinting across the floor of the tent and out to relative safety. He stumbled out onto the grounds, coughing from the acrid smoke and horrible smell of the gasoline. Frustrated, he looked up at the crackling inferno hungrily consuming the fabric of the tent.

He frowned, wondering if his abilities could help rebuild the tent. What others saw as magic was simply an ability to understand the bonds of matter, the four fundamental forces that governed the universe, and the know-how to manipulate them. If the fire hasn't sucked up too much energy from the molecules ...

He looked helplessly up at the dancing flames, the ashes floating down from the sparks. An ancient piece of wisdom pulsed through his mind. Man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward. He sighed, raising his arms. Too much energy had been consumed by the fire, and he might not be able to save the tent, but Meldellevo would try to contain the fire, wouldn't he, the selectively moral p***k?

Luciano closed his eyes and concentrated. Manipulate gravity. Manipulate electromagnetic forces. Around him, large chunks of earth freed themselves from the ground, spinning wildly, blue light flashing as the chunks whirled themselves into fine streams of dirt and grass. He waved his hand, sending the dirt clouds into the tent to smother the flames.

There were some loud thumps, a fwump, and Luciano opened his eyes again. The fire had died down considerably, but the tent was a mess, half charred and half completely covered in dirt. Despite his efforts, there were still tongues of flame lapping at the tent, but it should be quickly manageable by the fire department when they got there.

All at once, Luciano felt a great fatigue. His limbs began to tremble, and he heaved a sigh, peeved that he had used so much energy with that manipulation to quell the fire. Oh damnit. And the first time I managed to take over, too. He slumped onto the ground, Meldellevo's body crumpling into a heap. "Balls," he quietly cursed as he lost consciousness.

While Parasite tended to be the one to show more emotion, both felt with extreme intensity. Granted, they each tended to feel differently about their situations so Parasite's reactions were always more subdued than if they felt the same. But at that exact moment when they watched their pretty, pretty project get destroyed by some stupid, stupid magician, they felt fury slowly building. It started in the pits of the stomachs, slowly raising until their hearts began beating faster and faster. Tapeworm's face pulled back into a frown while Parasite outright snarled. Parasite and Tapeworm could see the red climbing across their vision. Before they allowed themselves to succumb to the complete and total rage at something they created being destroyed, they twisted around to look at one another.

"Brother?" . Parasite paused until she heard a grunt from her brother. "Parasite demands that Meldellevo be punished." She paused again, looking at the prone body of the magician laying on the ground. "Would be hurt if Parasite burnt him?" The red finally clouded the entirety of her vision, causing a twisted grin to curl over her features. There was a tension to her body, as if she was only waiting for a command to leap forward and take her revenge.

Technically, Tapeworm knew that allowing Parasite to burn the magician would end up causing him pain. But if she didn't realize it, which she didn't, he knew his sister would happily burn the body into nothing. Yet Parasite wouldn't allow that to happen. They knew it was only a matter of time before they left this circus to find a new one. Leaving them short both a magician and a pair of knife throwers would simply be cruel. So just burning the fingertips would have to do.

"Tapeworm believes that his hands aren't important." With a small smile of his own Tapeworm strolled over to Meldellevo's body. He knelt down, keeping one knee on the ground and the other pressed against the magician's stomach and chest. He lifted one of the hands before sparing a moment to glance up at his sister. Tapeworm watched the hesitant way she fidgeted with the matchbook in her hands, even though her eyes desperately wanted to see something else go up in flames. He knew that Parasite only needed just a bit more prodding before she would happily take revenge. "You won't hurt him…" .

That was the last bit of permission Parasite needed. With a disturbingly gleeful look on her face, she skipped over before she knelt down beside her brother. She quickly lit a match, watched the flames dance for just a moment, before she allowed the flames to engulf the magician's index finger.

It was beautiful.
