I felt like dressing my avi for St. Patty's day and I always put her in this same exact outfit, year after year. In one particular year, someone told me that my avatar is incorrect because bagpipes are not Irish, but Scottish and St. Patrick's day is for Irish, not for Scottish.
I just responded with a bit of humor and told them to pretend it works perfectly for St. Patty's day. biggrin
I was just curious if it bothers any of you to see my avatar dressed incorrectly for St. Patty's day.
I would think it's okay to dress up our avatar anyway we want, whenever we want. But I figure it might upset some people who are Irish. I'm not Irish, personally, so I wouldn't understand but I guess I could understand if it did bother pure blood Irish. But they could also put me on ignore if it bothered them.
Side note: Wasn't sure where to post this. There's no General Discussion section so I figured the ChatterBox was the best bet. If there is a General Discussion, I didn't notice it! D:

I don't think it should offend anyone. but then again, I'm not Irish myself >.>
Now for the sake of keeping your costume....lets say "authentic" it would be wise to lose the bagpipes; but then again is assuming you want the costume be be considered that. if not, keep them. =)

That's true. If I was aiming for an authentic look, than I'd definitely lose the bagpipes and the plaid skirt. But since I'm not going for that, I shall keep them. biggrin
Thanks for the post.

Lol. It sure does seem it when you see people wearing green on that day who have no Irish blood. xD

I've heard the Scots and Irish hate each other. Just saying. Anyways, it's your avi and you should be free to do what you want with it as long as you don't break the rules or deliberately try to piss people off.

Hopefully that hate is declining. Whatever happened between them in the past is the past, just as I'm sure other nationalities who hate each other for whatever reason can't hate each other forever. And what about those who are half Irish and Scottish? I sure hope they don't hate themselves. D:
Thank you for the information, by the way. ^^ That could be cause for some flaming on my avatar.

Ya know. I could just say my avatar is part Irish and Scottish and is representing both parts of her ancestry on St. Patrick's day. surprised Why didn't I think of this before?! Maybe that will avoid any flaming? xD
EDIT:
Thanks for all the input, everyone! biggrin
