This meeting is for Nkiruka Favre , and will be overseen by Zakaria Arrington.
Location: Zakaria's Study
PostPosted: Mon Mar 07, 2011 6:15 pm

"Nik...Neek? Nk... Who the ******** names their kid like this!? What did they do, shake up the boggle game and go with whatever fell out first?"
Zak was currently trying to figure out how to pronounce Nkiruka Favre's name. The last name? Not a problem. Although, he had needed to check with Kali on whether or not it meant 'Bean' in French. He had been sure that it did; but apparently, he'd been one letter off. It had been a long time since he had been in France, his grasp of the language was falling thin. Perhaps, he mused, he would brush up on that in his free time.

At that thought, he stopped what he was scrawling on the floor, and actually laughed out loud. Free time! THAT was funny!

He shook his head and chuckled as he finished the circle, stepping back and clapping chalk dust from his hands. He still couldn't pronounce her name; but it didn't much matter, he decided, as he lifted the vial from the velvet case he and Nigel had begun to put them in for easy storage. The multicoloured liquid swirled as he shook it, then looked at the circle. With a word, it flared to life - and summoned Nkiruka Favre to it's center.

The basement she appeared in was no ordinary basement; it was furnished rather nicely, if a bit strangely, by normal standards. There was a large stone circle in the center of the room, ringed by wooden flooring. One wall was coated in machinery, strange stuff, most of it homemade frankenstein creations of Nigel's. Another wall supported what seemed to be an entire library, but really was only a fraction of what Zak owned. Counters set up near the machinery held vials and ingredients, the cupboards beneath them likely holding more the same. It seemed to be a work area; which, it was.

Nkiruka had been reading of all things, enjoying her small break in between clients. It wasn't even a book about business; it was one that her secretary had suggested as a deviation to what she usually read. Pride and Prejudice. She was...at least interested enough to read past the first chapter. Asha had just set a nice glass of iced tea on the end table next to the large plush chair her employer had been sitting in and had wandered away. Nikki sat the book down and was about to take hold of the glass when...

She was sitting on the floor in some freak-show of a...basement? It seemed it couldn't decide on being a library or some mad-scientist's lair. It was tacky, if anything, and she really wasn't pleased that she had been dragged here.

"Well," she said as she dusted herself off and standing herself upright. "It's been a while since I have been forcefully summoned somewhere. I think the last time was, what, the early 40's when that one guy wanted me to off his brother..." she mused to herself before really paying attention to the person that summoned her. Oh horrah, a male.

"So how can I help you? I'm not really in the assassination business anymore if that's what you want." She looked at him, quirking an eyebrow before looking around again, mainly at the books as to see what on earth this blond haired fellow was capable of reading, and to her surprise he seemed, intellectual with what titles she was seeing.

"I assure you, if I want someone dead, I do not need anyone else's help. No, I've brought you here for an entirely different matter." Zak said, impressed at how the woman was not phased by the sudden interruption to her normal life that his summoning caused her. It was a good change from the angry outbursts he was usually faced with.

"First off, how the hell do you pronounce your name? Nk. That's not a syllable. That's a grunt." He seemed to be complaining, and not actually asking for an answer. Sighing, he waved a hand as if it would dissolve his curiosity, and shook his head. That wasn't the reason he had summoned this woman here; the vial he was holding was the reason, and he was surprised that he had been distracted from it when he wanted so badly to be rid of the damned things.

"Nevermind. I shall make this quick. This is not a matter of death, and more of a matter of life. A life you now own." The vial lifted from his fingers and floated over to her, stopping when it was within her reach and hovering almost expectantly.
"I'm sure you can sense by now that that is no ordinary vial. Quite the contrary. It's packed full of..." He chuckled, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Surprises. It's yours now. Do with it as you will.

Nkiruka rolled her eyes. She ALWAYS got this question. She folded her arms across her chest is a somewhat impatient manner. Was that really what he wanted from her? When his true intent was revealed, she merely kept looking at him, ignoring the floating vial.

"Well, first off, it's pronounced Nih-kee-roo-kah, but for your own sanity, you can just call me Nikki. Practically everyone does. That or Miss Favre, but you don't seem to be one who's fond of formalities..." She paused and poked the vial, not willing to take grasp of it just yet.

"Do with it what I will eh?" she said with a dash of snark and a devilish smile. "Well then, perhaps I'll uncork it and serve it in a martini to my next client. The color is pretty enough to pass it off as some fancy liqueur." She, however, could feel the possibility of life in this vial, and like hell she'd just serve it up to someone, but if this pisser was going to just drag her here she might as well have fun with it.

"I would love to know what happens if it's ingested. The olive may dilute the substance a bit, but that would be an interesting experiment as well." Zak said, not at all bothered by her threat.
It had been something he'd been considering for quite some time, but 'wasn't allowed' to by the rest of the occupants of his house - two of whom would know if he did it, and one of whom had no qualms about punishing him for doing so.
Of course, Nigel could always be swayed to his side, with a little work...

He shrugged, and returned the devilish smile. "Do try it. I'm sure it would be fascinating. Miss Favre."
Oh, but she did seem like the type of person Zak would hang around with.

Nikki was tempted to drink that vial right in front of that smart a** of a man. Oh how she wanted to, but she knew better. She could practically feel the potential of life oozing from that liquid, and who knew, if she drank it she might end up pregnant or something. Magic always has an odd way with messing with people in weird ways. She should know after all.

"I am going to guess that I don't have a choice in the matter..." she said with a rather annoyed huff as she snatched the bottle with a quick snap of her hand, twirling the vial in between her fingers as she thought for a few moments.

"So...how old is this thing going to be when in emerges from it's liquid state? Is it going to be like a slug or something? If so, I guess I could get an aquarium for it or something..." She looked at Zak half-expectantly. "Give me some sort of clue so I can know what to stick it in and ignore it once it magically shows up..."

"Ooh, neglect. I'd love to see the effect that would have on this thing." he was liking this woman more and more. A pity they'd had to meet this way.
"It's impossible to say how old it will be. The age varies, and we haven't yet discovered the cause. Perhaps you could use your own abilities and see if you can figure it out." He shrugged.

"Regardless, I recommend you prepare for any eventuality. and, no. You don't have a choice in the matter." He crossed his arms, and watched her. She was lucky she had impressed him. He wouldn't have given her any sort of hint otherwise.

Nikki snarled a bit, crossing her arms. He was being vague. She HATED it when people were vague. Pissed her off. Why couldn't he just tell her what the ******** was going to come out of the vial? Was it really that hard?

"Who ever told you that beating around the bush was charming misinformed you, just to let you know..." she said coarsely before turning her back away from for a few moments to regain her composure. "Though, knowing how you types can be," she mused as she turned enough to look at him out of the corner of one eye, "that's the best hint you'll give anybody, I'm sure."

She stretched and then pocketed the vial before fully facing the man once again. "So are we done here? I do have a meeting with an important client soon after all. I'm sure you know how it is when you make lesser minded things wait, don't you? They make a horrid mess of things..."

Zak laughed, shaking his head.
"You have been misinformed if you think I'm trying to be charming." He grinned at her, slipping his hands into his pocket. "I'm having fun."
He took one hand out and gestured to her as she turned around once more, smiling.

"You have the honour of being the first to recieve such a hint from me." He said, offering a slight bow, still grinning. "Also the honour of having a choice of when you leave. I look forward to our next meeting, Miss Favre..." He waved his hand again, this time activating the circle around her feet.

"Have a nice trip back."

And, with that, the woman was gone.
