This article got me thinking.
What sort of activities do you enjoy doing with your child(ren).

    Little Miss is now 2.
  • She and I enjoy coloring together. She loves the color wonder markers.
  • Reading is a favorite time for both of us.
  • She's old enough now (and seen Mommy and Daddy on enough) that she enjoys some time at the computer. Here are a couple of sites that she likes to visit:
    - She's really into
Hello Kitty
- Strawberry Shortcake
- and she's recently become interested in A Little Snow Fairy Sugar
  • She got a toy phone for Christmas that will ask her to push the numbers and while she can't find the number on her own she loves it when I sit down and help her press the correct button. This is nice becaue it's play time, but she's learning as well.
  • Daddy's much more imaginative than Mommy and Little Miss loves it when Daddy will bring out her hand puppets and/or stuffed animals and play with them with her.
I hope that this get things started... whee

I know me and my nephew like to sing and dance (we sing the ABC's and 123's)

We've also made a game up it's like a board game were we wrote 1-10, used pieces of paper, colored construction paper (To help learn the colors), and the abc's if you want a lot of pieces. Then set them up like a game board around the room. with a paper for start and one for finish.

Then we take a dice (I use my fuzzy big dice) and we move along the board and you have to say the number, color, or letter that you land on, if you get it wrong you have to start over (Or go back to the last one you had wright) we have fun playing and it helps him learn the letters and number instead of just using them in order (You know instead f just saying the abc's mix them up

I can't keep up with things to play with him. All he does is want to kill things. I don't know where I went wrong. crying He should want to kill things. I think its all because his father ( who was in the army for 4 years. and not in his life) came back and I think he is teaching him this stuff. -_- Because he wasn't like this til his dad started taking him for weekends. *sighs*

Our daughter loves to build, which is an activity I encourage, partly because it is educational and because it's what I did a lot as a kid I suppose. I wish I could build with her more often. She loves building "houses" out of her big-lego or wooden blocks. Also it is funny the way she thinks that putting anything in a stack is building a snowman. She will stack a few of her shapes (meant for fitting into shaped holes) and then smile and say "snowman!" So cute xd

We actually play quite a bit, for all I get so guilty about letting Lucien watch movies (fave: Pirates of the Caribbean, now currently being threatened by Muppet Treasure Island and the original Star Wars). His all-time favorite activity is dueling with swords (now light sabers - and he always gets the purple one). He also likes to draw, although the favorite partner for that is Dan (my SIL's bf), who is a graphic arts major and loves drawing Spiderman. Knocked my socks off when he randomly started drawing apples for me one day. The next day he drew a cat for Daddy. He also likes to color, and has a fair stab at staying inside the lines. HE'S ONLY TWO. eek Any time he wants to sit down and relax, we read together. My mother just cleaned out her books, so his new favorite is a total blast from my past: The Berenstain Bears' Almanac. It talks about seasons, natural phenomena, and holidays. Lots of really useful info. Now if I look at him and say "Winter", he pretends to shiver! xd Daddy has discovered that Lucien is smart (I kept telling him that the kid was *deliberately* telling him the wrong colors), because when Daddy asks questions in his Stitch (Lilo & Stitch) voice, Lucien will actually give him the correct answer because it's a game. Works okay for Master Yoda as well.

Old (bigger - like refrigerato or washing machine size) boxes with a little tempra paint and some imagination were always hours of fun for my children.

Being creative with couch cushions. Till this day my whole family still loves pulling out all the couch cushions, an old quilt, every mattress in the house and it's pillows, then making a huge fort in the living room. Now we have to make 2 because of 'girl vs. boy' wars. rolleyes

then there is always taking the GOOD sheets out and tying them to the chain link fence (Jen will know what I am hinting at) as a hammock!

Seriously - "tea parties' where they can learn social skills - no wonder girls have better skills earlier!
