The Lion King is one of my All time favourite movies and absolutly can't wait for it to come out on Diamond edition this fall!!

I adore Hans Zimmers Score, especially King of Pride Rock and This Land.

It was a great movie. I love the music and the voice cast.

But I can never really forgive Disney for this movie. Being a fan of Tezuka and watching Kimba the White Lion as a kid... the similarities are far too much to think that Disney did not take some liberties from Kimba.

Apparently, in addition to releasing The Lion King on Bluray, it is being released in 3D in theaters for two weeks (in the US). It's supposed to start playing on Sept. 16th.

I'm posting to spread the word! If it's close enough to me, I'm going! Anybody else? biggrin

Unfortunatly, I am in the Uk so it is out later which makes me sad . Been wating for it since I think the release of Alice in Wonderland or Bambi diamond editions (somwhere around that time) When there was a teaser trailer!! Cant wait to see it in the cinema... even though do not see the point in putting it in 3D put to just see one of my favourite films is a bonus!! Goig to have to get both Dvd (for mu collection) and triple play edition (for the family and bonus features!)

So excited...... Hope they bring out a ton of new merchandise!!

Never realized that it was based on Hamlet. Makes sense now that I think about it :3

It's not exactly based on Hamlet. It's actually based on a story from African folklore, but the two stories were similar enough that everyone assumes it's Hamlet. The second one, however, is most definately based on Romeo and Juliet.

Saw The Lion King in the cinema (in 3D) as have really wanted to experience it on the big screen but not that bothered about it actually being in 3D.

One of the downfalls of 3D is it can make it feel darker and with lion king you can sometimes miss some of the extremely vibrant colours in Hakuna Matata. However there were a few moments that the 3D did add a magical touch though I wont miss the 3D when watching it at home though it was nice to have a slightly different experience on the one off.

But the main reason I went to see it in the cinema was to experience quality (as only have it on vhs untill they bring out the new dvd and blu-ray) and also the music in full surround sound and I wasnt let down...... the score in the lion king is my all time favourite but in surround sound it raised it to an all time high, it really brought out the subtle background music.

The film is the original so not the special edition that was brought out whichincluded the 'Morning Report' which brought back memories of the original vhs we had till we wore it out from watching it too much when we were little!

May have to go see it agin whilst it is still in the cinemas!
