Okay, I'm going to clarify: this site is "blocked" ONLY IF you are linked to it from Gaia Online. If you open a new tab and copy-paste the URL, it will work fine. It's a widely used site, sort of a social network except based around people creating groups for online games. So lots of MMOs have this is a sort of "offline meeting place" of their guild, so to speak.
I can understand some good old fashioned paranoia, but I've already tested it and been to the site, and it's been legit for me. For a 21-year-old who's been an Internet addict for over a decade, I think I can claim confidence on this one. No one is using this to steal your Gaia password.
Now, obviously, whether you want to join or not is totally up to you. It won't replace this guild as the central meeting spot of our SC group, that's for sure. But hey, it's just one more thing if you've got some free time.
