For: Tari, Kali, Tangaroa, Ki.
Place: A pastry/bakery store near the Gambino docks
Time: Mid-afternoon

A loud jangling filled the air of the small shop as the door slammed open, triggered the old-fashioned bell hooked above it. While staff were then alerted to the presence of customers, they could not have been prepared for the gold-and-black mini cyclone that entered.

"Tari sweet, Tari sweet, Tari sweet!" the cyclone sang as it flew back and forwards through the shop.

Following more sedately behind was a harried-looking redhead. Kali sighed, before patiently replying, "Tari is very sweet. And she can have a sweet... if she behaves."

This effectively halted the cyclone in its tracks, revealing a half-formed girl. Physically a teenager, the girl was perfectly formed from the top of her head to just underneath her bust - from there she was a small mass of glowing rune and trailing ribbons. However, there was something childlike about her, especially when she opened her mouth to speak. "Tari can have sweet?" she begged prettilly.

Kali was mostly immune to the begging and the huge green eyes that pleaded with her. She had already promised some form of cakery, though, which was why they were here in the first place. "One sweet," she instructed, holding up one finger to emphasise her point. "Pick one - and not one whole cake, mind you."

Tari pouted (there went her secret plan to get the most cake possible out of this), but turned obediently to stare at the glass display cases. Her eyes widened even further. The width of a very wide shop was taken up with multiple displays, each showcasing a huge variety of cakes, pastries, scones, tarts... every kind of bakery-dessert in the wold, Tari thought.

"One sweet?" Tari repeated. She looked up and down the glass, not even approaching it yet. Her face fell. "Oh dear."

This would be hard.

Pushing open the door to the bakery, Tangaroa sniffed appreciately. "Sugar...everywhere." he observed happily, making for the nearest case.

"Tang...no!" Ki'retha hissed, carefully grabbing his arm. Careful to keep her voice pitched low enough to not be heard, she tried to get through to him "You wait til I pay for these to eat them, understood? I know that I've taught you that there are more..convenient, not to mention cheaper ways to acquire things, but this is one of the last bakeries in Gambino that doesn't throw us out on sight! If you get us thrown out of this one, you'll be stuck with prepackaged sweets whenever we dock here."

That stopped him almost dead in his tracks. The fresh, sugary pastries were just so much better than the prepackaged...things he was stuck with while at sea. Making a face, he nonetheless nodded at Ki, fins drooping slightly. Denied immediate satisfaction, he looked around the shop more slowly, spotting Tari almost immediately. Grasping Ki's arm, he dragged her in that direction. "Another like me! Look!"

He thought she looked familiar...and if nothing else, the fact that she also seemed interested in the sweet things on display was an instant brownie point, with him.

"Hmm?" Ki looked up from counting her gold, letting the raevan drag her slowly in the other pair's direction--a trip to a bakery was usually an expensive endeavor, with Tang. "...Oh! Hi there!" She spoke to kalindara, although she was pretty sure that the redhead was not among the guardians she'd met before

"Tari. Raevan is Tari!" Tang spoke up, releasing Ki's arm as he floated in her direction. "Tari likes sweets, too?" Clearly, while his grasp of the english language had improved, his social manners had not.

Tari spun around as someone spoke her name, eyes alight. Maybe a friend could help her choose? Or they could share, yes, and have twice as much cakie!

Large eyes widened impossibly further as she took in the speaker. She drew in a deep breath.

Kali cringed, too late to prevent what was coming...

"FISHYYYY!" Tari shrieked, and suddenly poor Tangaroa was the victim of a very enthusiastic tackle-hug.

"Oh dear," Kali finished, echoing Tari's early statement. Though, she considered, this might go a long way to explaining Tari's fascination with the koi at home. So there were more fish-Raevan than the boy Tari had gotten into trouble in the mall with before. Kali certainly hoped this one was better behaved, or at least less prone to going along with Tari's unknowing mischief.

"Tangy-fishy! Is Tangy-fishy, yes? Tari remember," the black head nodded, not releasing her grip on the other Raevan just yet. Though she thoughtfully did switch her death grip to just one hand, to pull the orange Raevan over to the displays. "Sweet, yes, Tari want. Om nom cakie. But sooo many."

She pouted and turned her big puppy-dog eyes on Tangaroa (since her mother was immune). "But Mama say only one. How Tari choose!? Tangy must help!"

While this was going on, Kali gave the other guardian a wan smile. It had been an exhausting enough day already, before Tari encountered one of her favourite Raevans. "Hello," she said. "No, I don't think I was with Tariel when she met your Raevan. I'm Kali."

Tang shot Ki a triumphant look, maneuvering himself so as to avoid sticking Tariel with his fins--he was learning...somewhat. (He was learning when he cared to do so, anyway...he usually just couldn't be bothered to do others the courtesy of avoiding stinging them with his fins, figuring it was up to them to avoid getting stuck.)

"Yes...we met last time, with the other fish..." he trailed off, clearly making an effort with his speech. "Ki let me buy cakes, also!" He continued, having no trouble whatsoever following her conversation. Following her agreeably (after all, he was here for the same thing...cakes!), he peered through the glass. "How about that one?" he asked after a moment, pointing at a small cake, with gobs of fluffy looking white icing, and elegant piped designs along the edge, and chocolate shavings sprinkled across the top.

Ki grinned sympathetically at Kali. "I'm Ki." she replied. "They can be quite a handful, can't they?" she said after a moment. "This is one of the last bakeries we're allowed in--Tang has a tendency to sample as he goes, and they're not too fond of it..." This last she said quietly, so as to avoid the girl behind the counter hearing her. She also neglected to mention that his lack of bother in not paying for things may possibly be partially her fault, since he'd no doubt spotted her pickpocketing on a number of occasions.
