Derek was driving the car his father had given him on his 16th birthday through the city. It was a nice area. It had anything you'd need or want. A school, police and fire stations, libraries, and parks. It had Clubs and bars, drug dealers, thieves, felons and murders. It also had the people like Derek, people who had to be someone else for this city. People who lived behind masks everyday to hide their true pain. Their true person. He slowed for a red light and saw a park nearby. He decided to pull in when the light changed green and parked his car.

The wind blew the tree branches as if they were trying to dance. All he did was smirk as he sat down on a bleached wooden bench in the park. Passerby's knew exactly who he was, which upset him. Why did they get to know him when he didn't really know him. His expensive phone started to vibrate in his pocket. He knew it was dad calling to make sure Derek was going to be home for the 'special dinner' planned. He closed his eyes and let the sounds around him fill him. The cars driving on the streets, the wind blowing the leaves, the whispers of the people in the park. He knew it all too well, and he just smiled.
