Have you tried using Snow as a Sentinel class with mediguard or in general using him to take all the damage? And I would advise you to use Vanille and Lightning as your other members. Vanille being a Saboteur and healer while Lightning being your main offensive force (Snow can double as this as well but his main job is to take all the damage).

I think he attacks accordingly to your parties current paradigm. Try shifting often.
