Story

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

We all know of the story of 200 hundred years ago. The time when the Fire Nation had gained control over nearly all nations through the war. How the last airbender, Aang was found in the iceberg at the Southern Water Tribe and trekked through the nations, all except for the Fire Nation, to learn the three elements needed to take down the Fire Lord. We all know of the great fight that took place between Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Ozai on the day of Sozin's Comet. Peace reigned quickly as Prince Zuko, who had fought an Agni Kai with his sister Azula, had been crowned Fire Lord. Avatar Aang and his friends worked together to restore peace, and for 200 years after all that had been known of the war was stored into writing and stored away.

Now, with Avatar Aang and his friends long-dead, their only mark the peace they had restored and the airbenders having slowly been brought back from extinction, a new and secretly corrupt Fire Lord arises. Under this Fire Lord's rule, war is slowly spreading once more. This time, it is the Water Tribes they are attacking. Being their main element weakness, the firebenders are slowly destroying the Water Tribes, starting with the Southern Tribe. There hasn't been the appearance of a new avatar for nearly 300 years now. Chaos is erupting all over the four nations. Those benders who wish to live vow to become 'spies' for the fire nation so they and their families will be spared.
Trust is scarce, and there is still no sign of a new Avatar. Or is there? Somewhere, a new Avatar has been born. This one is a waterbender, hidden deep within the Northern Water Tribe. As the Fire Nation advances, and it is seen that even the new Avatar is not strong enough to stop them, the tribe uses a special technique to put the Avatar into a deep, 300 year sleep and then hides the Avatar deep within a temple located in the Artic wastelands that cover seemingly endless miles of the Northern pole, making it impossible for the Fire Nation to pursue.

Now, another 300 years have passed and once more the Fire Nation is close to world domination. Few have found sanction hidden in places where the Fire Nation dares not venture. The Avatar has yet to make an appearance. All hope is burned out as many believe they will never see the Avatar again. Little do they know, the Avatar has been slowly awakening from slumber.

The Water Tribes

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Water Tribe is one of the Four Nations. Members of the Water Tribe, for the most part, inhabit the polar regions. There is also a small population of Waterbenders located in the swamps of the Earth Kingdom, although they were isolated from their sister-tribes for generations and others were not aware of their existence until stumbled upon by Avatar Aang, Katara, and Sokka.

The Water Tribes are a peaceful people. They strive to live in harmony with nature and with the other nations of the world. There are two sects of Water Tribes, the Northern and the Southern. In the time since the Fire Nation's attack began, contact between the two tribes has ended. With the defeat of Firelord Ozai, the two tribes had returned to contact with one another. However, once the new war began they once again lost contact and the Southern tribe has been all but wiped out.

Waterbenders use their abilities for defense, never for aggression. Despite their peaceful nature, their goal was once to do whatever it takes to stop the Fire Nation from taking over the world, but now with their dwindling numbers their goal is to prevent the Fire Nation from destroying anymore of their water benders.

The Water Tribe is far less powerful than either the Earth Kingdom or the Fire Nation. Its economy is very small and is dependent on ocean resources, which can be attributed to the relatively small population of the Water Tribes as the third most populous nation.

The Earth Kingdom

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Earth Kingdom is one of the world's four major nations. It is a confederate monarchy led by the Earth King. A massive continent taking up most of the planet's eastern hemisphere, the Earth Kingdom is roughly analogous to Eurasia in our world.

The people of the Earth Kingdom are proud and strong and adhere to a philosophy of peaceful coexistence and cooperation with the other nations of the world. Earthbenders use their abilities for defense and industry and have fiercely defended their cities against attacks by the Fire Nation. However, the Fire Nation has somehow gained an advantage over the Earth Kingdom by the second war, causing the Kingdom to once again fall under Fire Nation control.

The Earth Kingdom is the largest country in the world in both population figures and land area. Thus, it is an ethnically diverse country, with wide variance in customs between different provinces and tribes. It also has a large economy based on agriculture and limited industry, though it is not as powerful as the technologically advanced Fire Nation. Unlike the Air Nomads and Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom has not suffered a heavy loss of life or any sort of extinction in civilization or its Earthbenders during the first war. In the second war, the Earthbenders find themselves struggling against Fire Nation rule, rebellions bursting out here and there in an attempt to throw out their enemy. Because of this, much of the Earth Kingdom is destroyed due to the fighting.

The Earth Kingdom long withstood encroachments on their borders in the Fire Nation's century-long imperialist war. Other than the Avatar, the Earth Kingdom was the only real obstacle between the Fire Nation and complete world domination, as the Water Tribes only demonstrated the ability to defend their own lands, the poles. Though the Water Tribes aided the Earth Kingdom in the war, the conflict progressed poorly and took a heavy toll on them as the years passed. This continued until the Coup of Ba Sing Se, when the Fire Nation princess, Azula, took control of the Earth Kingdom capital city, Ba Sing Se. By the following summer, it was occupied by thinly spread Fire Nation forces which were plagued by rebellions, warranting the decision to burn the Earth Kingdom upon the arrival of Sozin's Comet.

During the arrival of Sozin's Comet at the very end of the summer, Ba Sing Se was liberated from Fire Nation control by the Order of the White Lotus, effectively ending the Fire Nation occupation of the city. This, in combination with the decisive defeat of Phoenix King Ozai, effectively liberated the fire nation held parts of the Earth Kingdom. Now, because of the second war, the Order of the White Lotus has been disbanded and destroyed as the Fie Nation conquers, with some trouble, the Earth Kingdom once more.

The Fire Nation

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Fire Nation is one of the world's four nations. It is an absolute monarchy led by the Fire Lord. Geographically, the continent is located on the planet's equator in the western hemisphere, and is composed of several islands, and therefore is an archipelago. Its capital is at the Fire Nation Capital. The Fire Nation is home to almost all Firebenders.

The Fire Nation is the second largest nation in the world in terms of population and area. It is second in both of these respects to the Earth Kingdom. The Fire Nation economy is the most powerful in the world, with a strong industrial sector and extensive technological developments.

Regardless of previous boundaries, the Military of the Fire Nation was previously, and is once again, engaged in an imperialistic century long war with the other three nations. The previous ruler, Fire Lord Zuko, intended to use Fire Nation resources to help rebuild the world and achieved his intentions before his death. Now a new Fire Lord has been crowned and this one has started a second, longer war than the first. The Fire Nation Capital is guarded by the Great Gates of Azulon, named after the former Fire Lord Azulon.

The Air Nomads

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Air Nomads is a nation of people who practice the discipline of Airbending. One of the four major nations, the Air Nomads were wanderers by definition, but had four Air Temples, one at each corner of the globe, hidden away atop mountain ranges in the northern Earth Kingdom and on three remote islands. The Air Nomads were home to a monastic order of men and women who practiced Airbending. Unlike the other Nations, the people of the Air Nomads were, without any seen exception, all benders due to the high level of spirituality of their people.

The Air Nomads are the most mysterious of all the benders because they disappeared 100 years ago. They were a peaceful race that was wiped out by the Fire Nation. The Air Nomads lived in large temples and traveled the world on flying bison. They were the most spiritual of all the cultures and lived in harmony with nature. They also were fun-loving and had a strong sense of humor. Aang was the only known living Air Nomad until he and Katara had slowly brought them back into existence, leaving them to grow upon the death of the two.

The Air Nomads are the smallest of the four nations in the world. Its economy, such as it is entirely based on limited agriculture. Population of the Air Nomads is small compared to even the Water Tribe, and is far smaller than either of the world's two major powers, the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom. However, they are the only nation completely composed of benders, as all Air Nomads are capable of Airbending.

A century before the reappearance of Avatar Aang, the Air Nomads were the victims of genocide at the hands of the Fire Nation. Ironically, the sole known survivor of the massacre was the very person the Fire Nation sought to kill in its quest for supremacy: the twelve-year-old Airbender and Avatar, Aang, who had run away from the Southern Air Temple shortly before the war began and became trapped in suspended animation in a globe of ice along with his lifetime friend, Appa. He has since been awakened and has succeeded in his quest to restore balance and peace to the warring nations. Upon his death, the balance and peace reigned further until the crowing of the new Fire Lord. Now everything is ending in chaos with the Fire Nation coming out on top and controlling almost all nations. There is still much resistance against Fire Nation rule, but any hope for a new Avatar is since long vanished with the death of Avatar Aang.
