___________________________________________ It had been several days before he thought about the events of Chronos' shapechanging. The legend was going to have to learn how to control it. He could become it now but without the ability to stop himself when he needed to, Chronos was going to be causing trouble if not in danger each and every time he would use it. The control was more necessary than one would think because of the power of time he had. It had not been fun for Valkon to be shoved back to living for even a few moments. It had stung when he became himself again also. The yokai knew it was not intentional and that Chronos would never harm him. Well, unless Az ordered something. Then he had no doubts that there would be trouble. That was part of the thrill of having a friendship as they did. Either of them would do whatever was necessary to accomplish their own ends. For now they went the same direction. Valkon had no doubts that at some point he and Chronos would clash, but it was long away from them for now. And he was not worrying about it until he needed to. But the problem was control. When faced with that women, the response from Chronos had been electric and palpably in the air. Not a good state for him to be in. Valkon had thought about the event repeatedly but there was always a hole there. Simply, he did not know the story. Without that knowledge, he had little to go by and there would be something missed. It was dangerous to underestimate the circumstances and with them all at risk, especially Chronos himself, Valkon refused to do so. Chronos would have to tell him more about the red flag he saw when she was around. And if there were other triggers, they would have to be eliminated one by one or Chronos would have to be able to entirely control himself in that form. "Hawke, I'm going to go see Chronos. Stay here or go drag Zion out to play awhile." Valkon said, watching his son from the side. "Alright, Dad. I'll see if he wants to find something to do." the ghostling replied as he tossed another orb of shadow into the air. It was getting easier and easier for him to do so. Besides, he liked juggling the balls of darkness. Even better was hiding himself in the shadows. His dad did not know but he could hide himself not only in the shadows nearby, he could create small shadows and move from place to place within them. But it was not at his beck and call yet. He had alot of practicing to do first. Even Touma had been impressed when he had seen him do so. The nightwhisper had said he would make a good ninja and that he could teach him a few things later when he had more power. Valkon nodded, walking out the door. It did not take him long to get to his friend's rooms. Knocking on the door, he called, "Chronos, it's Valkon. I need to talk to you. It's important."

Since the whole shocking incident with his former life, and that very draining event in which he was forced into a monstrous form by his own rage, Chronos had ventured very little outside of his room. He would never have guessed that the fluctuating time would have an affect on him as well. His energy had been quite depleted since than. There were already rumors going around that castle that he was terminally ill and on the brink of death. None of the sort was true and would be all the more amusing when he walked the halls as he once did. Even the servant that had been bringing him a potion to help with the fatigue believed so. He was very doubtful of the ingredients he had purchased from a witch not far from town, though she seemed to speak highly of her own products.
There was not a moment that went by that he did not remember the power he held in that form and contemplate if there were a why to control it. However, there was still a great fear of it. It was an ability he had never been aware of before. Such a dormant power was dangerous, not just to him.
Luckily Zion was outside taking in some fresh air now. He had been as a faithful dog the entire time not wanting to leave Chronos' room. Much to Chrono's dissatisfaction he had heard the rumors and had to constantly assure Zion they were false. Hopefully he was already with Hawke to ease his young mind.... The two were becoming good friends lately. Chronos couldn't have approved more of this.
Chronos looked outside at the black dot in the sky. A new moon... Perhaps the dark moon goddess was feeling better after the destruction of their temple after all. A long time before they would see the full moon again.
"....Do you now? Well, best not be talking to me from the other side of a door my friend...." Chronos glanced at the door from his bed. He grunted as he moved to sit up right. It was hard enough having to look so pathetic in front of Valkon, best not lay down to add to the affect.

Valkon opened the door, walking into the room. His eyes crossed Chronos' face and looked for some indication of how he was feeling. He still was not fully back to his own power yet and the yokai had no doubt that it would not take a few days yet. He had not wanted to intrude before this, but he had been keeping tabs on Chronos via his creatures. One or two would pass by the windows or slip in a crack for but an instant to check.
"So how are you feeling? You look like you are having a bad hair day." Valkon teased hoping to lighten the mood for his friend. It was the one thing he did no matter what. Made jokes and if he could not do that, Valkon would have been at a loss on how to help Chronos.
He sat down in a chair near the bed. It was probably the one that Zion had been using. Valkon was certain that the boy had not been leaving his father except when Hawke dragged him out. Sons worried about their fathers as much as fathers worried about their sons. That thought caused him to frown but an instant. Had this been what his own father had been feeling when he had been missing? Shaking the thought away, Valkon watched Chronos for a long moment.
"I've been thinking about your control over that form. It will take some practice but I think you should be able to gain it. But, I can't tell for certain yet. I need to know a few things, Chronos. It's the only way I can predict what will affect you and prepare you for it. I have to know why it happened..." he hesitated a moment. "which includes who she is and everything else that happened between the two of you. It's the only way I will be able to guide you to making various triggers benign."
His gaze never changed as he watched Chronos closely. "I know this is probably a touchy subject, but when you understood I was no threat to Zion, your entire attitude changed towards me. But I have to know or I have no way of understanding what happened."
As an afterthought, he added, "If you don't want to discuss it now, I understand. But at some point we need to."

Chronos grinned at his friend's odd sense of humor. It was amusing to say the least that even when faced with a near 'death' expereince Valkon still managed to make an inside joke of it.
"Better by the day... I believe it is nothing more than my own domain becoming chaotic around me. It should stabilize very soon." He looked out over the new moon once again. "Even their cycle is returning."
Chronos listened thoughtfully to everything his friend had to say. His caution in the subject only assured him of the concern felt amongst those he held closely. "I couldn't see you at first my friend... That is why I attacked you. Everything looked the same, but my own blood. When he assured me, you were visible to my senses once again. Everything was moving too quickly for me to control. It felt... natural to let my anger take its course."
With a sigh he looked back at Valkon. It was a very rare gesture for the time-lord. "What you saw was many many centuries of pent up rage. Blinding rage... I had placed a curse on myself during death. That I may see her again and serve her just rewards for taking my son away from me. Perhaps the curse was the beastly form, or perhaps it was just the chance that we should meet after so long a time."
Chronos paused and looked at Valkon with a quirked brow. "It is a long story... be sure you are comfortable." He grinned again showing a bit more of his well self once again. "And do take notes should it help with your 'research'.... I will not repeat it."

Valkon sat down, leaning back in the chair. His tails fluffed around him for a moment and he was tempted to give himself only one by reshaping, but he had not entirely adjusted to that yet. He could end up with twice as many and that- he was certain- would be distracting not only for him, but for Chronos. The reason he was there would be forgotten.
Instead he pushed them slightly to the side adjusting his position. "Go for it. I'm listening," Valkon stated, then smirked. "And I'm comfortable. Hawke and Zion will be outside playing for awhile. I told Hawke to distract him awhile. I figured you both might need it."
"Blind rage. That sounds about right. When I took some of the animal shapes I could feel things like that from some of them. The wolf died in a trap and he was quite unhappy. It took me a little while to control those emotions whenever I was in the shape. As for it being a curse, I don't think so. I mean its form might be but your control over it is not. I think you will find a way to access it with enough practice. And a bit of help from me."
The latter he smirked. "But that is once you are on your feet again."

Chronos only chuckled at the mention of his son and Hawke. His son did need a good distraction. He had been so worried the past few days, which in turn kept Chronos worried.
"...It seemed different. Though I would surely have no say as I have never been fully an animal before. I had my priorities and would see them through no matter the cost." He frowned in one of the rare moments he showed his frustration with any situation. "But that woman..."
He let those words hang in the air for a moment before returning his focus to Valkon.
"In my past life I was a personal body guard to the Queen of a mighty nation. The king, whom I was loyal to, entrusted to me her safety and happiness. I had fought with him on many occasions and he saw my loyalty to be something worth entrusting me with that task.
With so much land the King was inclined to be away tending to his many subjects in far off lands. It is a noble thing of a king to do... his subjects loved him." Chronos waved his hand loosely as he drifted off the subject. "However, the queen did not wish to constantly travel and quickly grew lonesome, She leaned heavily on me for the... comfort.... that her husband was not able to provide. The kind did not know to which lengths I would go to keep my word. This made her happy and so I obliged. When he would visit he never knew. Things would carry on as normal and she would be pleasant toward him and happy to see him off.
Our engagements soon produced results... The queen begun to swell with a child. -My- child. Luckily the king had returned to see her in such a state and took it for his own flesh and blood. She would have killed it otherwise I am sure... He stayed with her until it was nearly time to arrive.
He was pulled away on an urgent event, however, and was unable to witness the birth. I guess you can say that was fortunate for me... My son looked nothing like either of them. You see, I have always had silver hair even in life. It is a genetic defect that has been passed down in my family for many generations. Continuing on in the next. Even as a newborn one could see he bore the silver hair no one else in the land had.... " Chronos paused again to collect himself. The frown had softened. "I was the first to hold him... His tiny heart beat... there is nothing alike in this world in comparison to the heart beat of your own flesh and blood... I held the world in my hands."
The smile that had collected on his face faded quickly and was replaced with that frown.
"I was too blinded by joy to see the look on her face. She was horrified... the king would return and know what had been done. The boy looked like me, my eyes, my lips, and half my hair. The only resemblance to her he took was the other half of his hair color.. Hazel.
He took a long breath before continuing.
"She sent me out to hunt something for a decent meal, something special for the occasion. And like a fool I left to oblige. When I returned my son was dead... she claimed that he had not made it past the hour, the wind had left him. The body she claimed to have given to her servant maid to bury, she could not look at the loss.... I comforted her until the maid returned and requested a quiet word with me. She lead me to a basket bearing the body of my boy.... his neck... had been bruised and broken.... strangled by the queen... The maid told me everything. There was no falsehood in her words. Everything fit. I remember Zion's face... cold, eyes swollen with tears...." Chronos shook his head again trying to collect himself. He would be damned to cry in front of Valkon, or anyone for that matter. "Those runes on Zion, around his neck and around his eyes portray his death... Some Fea bear the markings of their death after they are created. He doesn't remember what happened, he only has a feel.. which was why he was terrified of that woman.
Chronos looked away from Valkon and back at the new moon.
"The maid left me alone with him where.. I held him close for hours... than gave him as proper a burial outside the castle as I could manage. Under a tree that resembled an angel in the morning light..."
His words drifted as he fell silent for a moment. As he continued his story he shook his head and chuckled. It was an obvious frustrated chuckle by anyone who knew him well.
"When I returned to the castle late in the evening the queen called for me and before I could speak she demanded that I have my ability to reproduce removed so she could continue to fool around with me. I refused... I could not be loyal to her anymore. When the king returned she claimed I had raped her and he sentenced me to death. My head was removed the next morning, my body burned and my ashes feed to a fox... though, before I died I swore, I looked her in the eyes and swore I would see her again and she would regret what she had done to -my- Zion..."
He looked back over to Valkon.
"I hear it was my words that got the King to think and she was put to death not long after I was. The maid confessed everything she had done... The king cursed his former queen for her lie, as you saw, and for the loss of two good lives. The maid was crowned queen in front of the damned woman's eyes before she was put to death. She watched as everything fell apart. That much I was able to -tear- from her memories as I sealed her into the watch.
A bitter sweet ending I suppose... Still... seeing her brought up that beast. that rage, my curse. I do not think it would be wise to force that beast to surface again. Not without more research. The form was powerful, but painful. The rage I swear could have burned a hole through my chest. "

As Chronos told his tale, Valkon listened quietly. He could almost feel Chronos' frustration as it was almost permeable in the very air around them. And when he was finished, the yokai remained silent for a long time.
"I understand." he finally said, his voice softer than normal. "I know why you reacted as you did. I would have." A frown crossed his face as he tried to think what to do. "You are not going to tell Zion who she was, are you? I think that would be bad until he gets older. He would be drawn out of curiosity and accidents do happen. She could end up free again. That watch needs to be locked away somewhere none can get to it. Right now the fear of not knowing will keep him away. And she deserves to be in darkness alone."
A few thoughts occurred to him as he continued to sit there. The woman was definitely a trigger for Chronos. "You hold no ill-will for the king. I think she was one of two triggers you have on that form's uncontrollability. She and Zion. As you said, once you understood I posed no threat, it no longer mattered that I was there. Zion will always be a trigger but if you get the form under control, even he will not berserk you as you did. Practice will do that for you. It will not be easy in the beginning. But I do think with enough practice you can control it entirely."
"You are still going to be down for a few more days yet. I will set something up to help out once you are on your feet again. Touma can take care of some things for us so that we have the extra time needed for this. Is that alright?" Valkon asked as he watched Chronos. "And I would have Zion watch a few of them so that he understands what is going on. He might be able to help just in case the form gets away from you again."

"Fea.... they never age physically or mentally. Zion will remain as he is for the rest of eternity. The life that was taken from him so early has blessed him with an eternal youth." Chronos grunted as he scoot himself further so he could be sitting more upright.
"He has a feel for who that woman was... though he may not wholly understand. Zion, I believe, has the ability to see through any veil, any falsehood... It is something that I will look into later. Though, should he ask I will be inclined to let him know who that woman was, but he understands the subject is sore and has yet to bring it up." Chronos side glanced to where the watch was. "It would take one as strong as Azmodus himself to open up the seal I have placed on that watch, and a terrible curse to the one who succeeds. She was not a powerful entity and would be no less difficult to seal away again, if not fully eradicate her from this realm in any case. Besides..." His attention turned back to Valkon fully. "She has been frozen in her mortal form. The watch in a way is the only thing that is protecting her from the elements."
Valkon's next suggestion took a bit of thought. The beast would be a valuable power to have at their disposal, but would the cost be too great? "Zion would no doubt have to be there if we tried to force the form, lest I go and tear the castle apart looking for him. The Architect will have a fit if he has to repair more rooms... He was quite adamant about the observatory." Chronos grinned at the thought. The architect was a good minion, if not very outspoken about the upkeep of the castle. "Before even attempting it, still, I will need to research it. She may have been a trigger, but now that the matter is settled I do not feel that burning hatred... I believe the form could have been brought on by something so simple as protection. Perhaps I would not have changed into the beast if Zion had not been with us at the time..."

Valkon nodded, thinking about what this would mean for Zion. "Does he understand all of this about himself? And I'm sure that when he feels you are recuperated enough he will ask you about her. He was shaking behind me the entire time so I don't think you will really have to worry about his curiosity getting the better of him with the watch. He won't want anything to do with her. He was too afraid of her and more than likely that was part of what triggered you."
"And I would have asked for Zion to be there whenever we try to work on your form. " he added after a long moment. "Not just for the castle's sake, but for your own. It would not do for you to go off on a rampage across the countryside and run into something you could not handle. I really don't want to be chasing after you."
He laughed and then shrugged. "I would but I'd rather it was not necessary."
"As for changing... it is perhaps better it has happened now. We know about it and it can be dealt with so there are no surprises next time." the yokai stated. "It is always easier to know sooner than to have it happen when you are least prepared for it."
