Carapaceon
Carapaceons are crustacean-like monsters that have hard shells and exoskeletons or crab-like bodies which are difficult to cut through. When they're weakened by physical damage, they show internal bleeding by the frothing of the purple bubbles from their mouths. Most of these crustaceans resemble crabs, lobsters or scorpions.

Hermitaur
Nicknames: Hermit
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Thunder
Habitat: Jungle and Desert
A small, red Carapaceon known as the Hermitaur, it is the adolescent version of the much larger Daimyo Hermitaur. They live mainly in Jungles and Deserts, usually near water, but can also be found in the cave systems of the Swamp. When they are left undisturbed, Hermitaurs are most often seen picking through sand with their claws, presumably searching for food. The shell on their back was actually grown by the crab itself; only when they grow much larger, into a Daimyo Hermitaur, will they replace it with a Monoblos skull, or into a Diablos skull if they grow into the Plum Daimyo Hermitaur subspecies. Sometimes, a Hermitaur may wait beneath the ground for prey or a hunter to pass, jumping out of ground and striking them when they walk over. A Hermitaur that's burrowed underground can be spotted by the puffs of dust that it regularly spits out. Hermitaurs have a nasty temper, and will attack just about anything.

Daimyo Hermitaur
Nicknames: One Horned Daimyo, King Crab
Titles: The Lurking Desert Giant, The Ultimate Shield
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Waterblight
Weakness: Thunder
Habitat: Jungle and Desert
The Daimyo Hermitaur are large, red carapaceons that inhabit deserts and jungles. They are the slightly bigger, less aggressive cousin of the the Shogun Ceanataur and tend to be ignorant of their surroundings. A common sight near a desert oasis or the jungle shores, they leave their eggs under the protection of older Hermitaur siblings to fend for themselves.
When it hides within its shell, most enemy attacks will bounce straight off, but the Daimyo's shell and its horn can be broken with a Hammer, Hunting Horn or Lance for extra rewards. The hunter can also receive a Monoblos' heart by killing a Daimyo. When provoked, a Daimyo Hermitaur will attack with their powerful claws to knock hunters to the ground, ram into them backwards with the horn on their Monoblos skull, or fire powerful jets of water at them. Their hearing can be disturbed by a Sonic Bomb, but only when they have retreated into the safety of their shell.
When weak, the Daimyo Hermitaur froths at the mouth with dark grey-purple bubbles, but when they are enraged they will bubble at the mouth like they normally do when preparing for a water jet attack.
The Plum Daimyo Hermitaur uses a Diablos' skull as a shell.

Shen Gaoren
Nicknames: Shen, Ren, Gao
Titles: The Tallest God
Size: Giant
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Dragon/Fire
Habitat: Fortress
Shen Gaoren is a giant Carapaceon that roams the land. It is recognized for its grey skin, towering legs and gigantic green-yellow balls of acid generated and hurled from the rear of its body, which carries the skull of a Lao Shan Lung. Its colossal size helps it to defeat most creatures. The diet of Shen Gaoren is unknown; however, it is likely to be omnivorous.
When the legs of Shen Gaoren become weakened, they become inflamed, turning blood red, suggesting it's suffering from internal bleeding in its legs. Unlike the Lao-shan Lung, Shen Gaoren is more territorial and will stomp anyone who is unfortunate enough to escape.

Akura Vashimu
Nicknames: Shimu
Titles: Embodiment of Evolution
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Crystallization
Weakness: None
Habitat: Desert
The Akura Vashimu has blue-purple crystals growing on its claws, back, and tail tip. It has a huge geode mineral on its tail tip that shoots out a high-pressure venom at its enemies, causing them to be semi-frozen and lose all stamina. The Akura rests and hides underground, protruding its large mineral tail tip on the surface. If it is aware of nearby enemies, its tail breaks out of the sand and swings around violently, hurting anything nearby. It is possible to temporarily break the tail crystal, but the geode will quickly grow back. Its attack pattern and breakable parts may depend on the colour of its blood but if it's red, then it will signify that Akura Vashimu is near death.
The Akura Jebia is has more white in its crystals than the Vashimu.
