Neopterons
Neopterons are small insect-like monsters that usually travel in swarms. Because their shells are so brittle, they rarely drop materials when slain. Neopterons are very susceptible to poison and fire, while they hold quite a resistance to the Dragon element. Their materials are often used to make very sharp weapons.

Vespoid
Nicknames: Buzzing Stalkers, Vesp
Titles: Giant Bugs
Size: None specific
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: Poison
Habitat: All
Vespoids are insect-like monsters that inhabit the land. They are known to be a nuisance for hunters, due to their stings that cause hunters to flinch, resulting in them being exposed to any further attacks. Their stingers are loaded with a neuro-toxin that can paralyze foes. They are normally placed near rocky-walls and caves and found almost everywhere.
Controlled by the Queen Vespoid, they are found alone in some places, but appear in large numbers when with their leader.

Queen Vespoid
Nicknames: Queen Spoid
Titles: Royal Wings
Size: Large
Status Inflictions: Paralysis/Poison
Weakness: Poison/Fire
Habitat: All
The Queen Vespoid is the leader of a Vespoid nest. She is several times larger than the hunter and has gigantic wings. In appearance, she looks similar to the average Vespoid but has a ridged exoskeleton covering her soft innards, her wings are transparent and she has a ruby-like object on her head, hinting at her position as hive-queen. She has a large stinger on her tail that releases a gas. When sprayed with the Queen Vespoid's gas, the Vespoids in the area become much more aggressive.

Hornetaur
Nicknames: Hornet
Titles: The Hidden Jungle Clouds
Size: Very Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Poison
Habitat: Almost all
The Hornetaur are small, beetle-like Neopterons. Like the related Vespoid, they are highly susceptible to poison. Due to their small size, many find them difficult to hit directly. Hornetaurs will frequently attack the hunter in groups, making it very tedious to fight other monsters in the area. If hit with normal weapons, these monsters will frequently shatter completely.

Great Thunderbug
Nicknames: None
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: None
Habitat: Towers and Jungle
The Great Thunderbugs are small wisping globes of light, which appear to be swarming Thunderbugs. They are about the size of a Vespoid, and have a tendency to wisp around the area rather than attack the hunter.
They are also known to change into two different colors: blue and reddish-white. When in its normal and docile state, they are blue, but when attempting to attack, the blue hue becomes a fierce, glowing reddish-white, at which time they will harm hunters with strong electrical currents.
They are naturally found in the Tower and Jungle. Eyewitness reports also claim that some elder dragons are hosts to them, providing a safe environment in which to mature. A famous example of this is the Yamatsukami. However Thunderbugs from the Yama Tsukami are different, in that they can explode.

Bnahabra
Nicknames: Buna
Titles: Flying Beetle
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Almost all
They fly in a similar fashion and can also cause paralysis with their stingers. But, unlike the Vespoids, they can shoot a corrosive liquid which will reduce a hunter's resistance to Fire, Water, or Thunder depending on the region. There are various subspecies of the Bnahabra which, again, vary between the regions. Each has a distinctly colored wing. Bnahabra are often seen attached to the sides of the walls seemingly lifeless, until a hunter is close enough - then they fly away or attack.

Altaroth
Nicknames: Ant
Titles: Ant Minions
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: Fire/Poison
Habitat: Almost all
Like other Neopterons, they shatter into pieces when killed and must be poisoned for their bodies to be carved.
An interesting note about the Altaroth is that they can absorb mushrooms, berries, and other resources into the sac on their back. When hunters kill an Altaroth in this state, they will drop a shiny item depending on what they have absorbed. This can be taken to an advantage; if a hunter were to intercept and collect the resource the Altaroth was heading for, before the Altaroth reaches their target, the Altaroth will move on, and can be forced to consume one specific type of plant or mushroom. The hunter can then kill the Altaroth to gain the item dropped. The swelling of their sacs is indicated by different colors depending on what they have eaten.
Small Altaroths will not attack on their own unless one of their kind has been attacked. The larger ones, however, will attack as soon as they spot a hunter and order the rest of the swarm to attack as well. The larger ones will not absorb any of the resources in their area unlike their smaller kin.
Altaroth may also climb up vines and rough rock walls, much like hunters.
